Polaris Trailblazer 250 - Primary Clutch Removal

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I know, yes the washer I used put marks on the end of the crank. I won't be using the crank again so I'm not too worried.

All you had to do was wrap Teflon tape around the end of the bolt fill hole with gear oil and hit it with the impact. The hydraulic pressure will pop it right off. No damaged threads. Also always grease the puller threads.

Any recommendations on what to try if the threads of the Primary are stripped? I tried tapping them but didn't work. I have a new clutch so I'm not worried about damaging it.

Strip the clutch, use a puller, got it this way, no problem, tried the grease oil trick, didn’t work, made up a piece to go behind the centre nut, put the puller on, tighten, tap the end of the puller screw, out it came!! Had to rebuild that clutch anyway, so, dismantling it wasn’t a problem. I was able to clean up the helix, rollers were good, back in service!!

Why not just "taper the tip of your tool/bolt/puller so it is able to be Recieved into the crankshaft?"If it were a Sharper point on the tool,it would be put right into the crank without any Damage..?!

I used a counter sink to clean up the outside edge and then a tap to fix the first couple threads. I believe the tap I used was a "12 -1.25, fine thread"

Any common impact drill/driver (and the correct clutch puller which is available all over the Internet for a very reasonable price) will do that entire process in no time. You don't even have to hold the clutch in place. To remove that center bolt, just use an impact. Takes it off instantly. And just use a proper clutch puller to remove it. You can buy the clutch puller for these models for next to nothing online. (Totally worth it instead of destroying your parts.) Use your impact, the clutch pops right off. It is so easy it is not even funny. And I'm not even some 'professional' mechanic. What mechanic (backyard or other) does not even have an impact driver... Come on people. One of the most common - but HIGHLY necessary tools - for any mechanic. ....awful 'help' video
