I like the interesting create-a-monster concept and how the game seems to pull it off surprisingly well despite possible odd-looking designs. Was surprised how you can draw the monster and it comes out pretty accurate to what you drew.

Just have to say that I love Nathans. He just radiates "fren" energy.

Hearing the words “Yes Jacob I trust you” followed by it actually working out is surprising to me. Alpharad isn’t a bad person but the last time Jaiden trusted his judgment she lost multiple pokemon in a charity stream.

Actually, I played this game. I bought a copy of it, even. As a kid, I didn't get how to make complex and cool creatures, so I just did whatever my imagination would come up with out of the parts I had available. It was a doofy game, but fun in its own way.

As someone else who bought this game and played it as an adult, I can tell you that it isn't your fault that that water slide game is hard. I restarted the whole game, made my monster to be specifically good at that mini game according to the associated stats, and still couldn't even get close. The flicking portion is just not well coded. Never made it past that point, just put it back in the case and let it collect dust

I love how everything is always perfectly drawn, doesn't matter the franchise or complexity; the Pokemons on the Nuzlocks, the stages on the Mario Kaizo video, even those weird and overwhelmingly complicated-looking creatures on Amazing Island. Jaiden if you didn't know already, fossil fighters has a sequel: Fossile Fighters: Champions! It makes a tiny bit more sense than the original and has new mechanics! I loved this game so much as a kid and just kind of assumed I was the only person who ever played it because at no point has anyone talked about it ever. But I literally made some of my creations in this game into actual RP characters that I still use to this day. This game has zero business being as good as it is and I'm glad it still holds up and my opinion of it isn't just nostalgia.

Agreed. The minigames get old after too long, but I kept coming back to the monster maker. The only other gamecube game with that "This is obviously intended for very young children" target audience that I'd come back to after all this time is probably Gotcha Force.

I played that all the time when I was little, but then I lost it :p All I remember is the ship level. I’m going to go get a ToTaLlY LeGaL ROM of that game so I can play it again :D Thanks for the idea.

Amazing Island consumed a majority of my free time when I was a preteen. Absolutely love this game

I tried playing this game on an emulator once. Couldn’t get past the first set of trials because Waterskip Slider required me to mash the button faster than I was physically capable of doing *while* managing every other thing you need to do in that minigame. Gave up after 16+ attempts and deleted the ISO. I feel bad for any kid that got this game and couldn’t progress because of how ludicrously high the skill ceiling is

If you’ve played sonic forces before you would know that in the end it requires you to press the button multiple times super fast and I could not for the life of me do it so I had to have someone do it fire me :(

Emulators are impossible to get timing right in, they’re always slightly slower than the real game/console so your button presses and visuals will never line up. I don’t think you could play this on an emulator. The button mash is super hard though. There’s no game with faster button pressing.

@@soniccookie655 Go to config and disable Dual Core (And Idle Skipping if you’re on an older version of Dolphin).

I played this on GameCube back in the day and it's true, it was kind of a hidden gem.

I made a big huge block as my monster all those years ago I loved that thing so much

It's crazy how this game was a part of my childhood, was essentially ripped away from me, and I spent the next decade afterwards with it living rent free in my head and no matter how hard I tried I could not think of what the game was called. Then as easily as I brought it up in conversation to my friend, he figured out what it's called, then in that very year two awesome KZreadrs make videos on it. Kinda loosing my mind over the now...
