The Wind That Shapes the Land is the best metal song in the last 10+ years. There is music and then there is Music That Shapes the Soul. This is that music. I'm so happy for you to have found this amazing band.

I was never a power metal guy, always listened to prog/djent/core but ever since coming across UTA... I LOVE power metal... At least, their take/revitalization of it and I far more appreciation for the subgenre. UTA is a once in a generation band for sure. Top notch vocals, musicianship, lyrics, writing, composition, over arching story, community around the band, the band's personality, etc... the lost goes on. They have it all.

After I discovered UtA via a reaction video to Awakening I was sold 110%. Then I learned that it was the first track of a concept album and that the follow-up album had just been released I immediately ordered both on vinyl and did a media blackout until I could sit down with the lyrics sheet in one hand and some nice rum in the other and listen to them back to back following along with the story of the Immortal. And let me tell you that by the time I got to this track, which is like the triumphant moment after the climax, I was absolutely elated 😁🤘

@@BraindeadBreakdown I hope they get a proper cleaned-up and sound-adjusted video one of these days, but so far I haven't seen anything on par with the good live videos I've seen from other bands. Even the official ones from big festivals I've seen so far are mid at best.

IMMORTAL IS MORE THAN A NAME! THE WIND THAT SHAPES THE LAND Somehow I find myself Standing on the edge of something that I desperately need From this moment I will not be the same No more crying for the things I can't change Here I will put this tale to rest Finish what I started long ago And though it may not be the ending I wish Only victory can bring me home Come I won't wait for long I was never your slave for all eternity And now here we stand face to face Feel the ground Crashing all around Fight to fan the flame Ignite the battle rage Tear the sky Watch the boulders fly As the mountain scape Crumbles in her wake So, you've come to prove yourself Despite the lies you tell You know you won't prevail And I, most powerful of all Have come to see you fall You'll find no mercy here Search within, uncover the will to win Turn against the tide that washes o'er Find the strength to fall and rise again Open up the gates, unleash the force I am the wind that shapes the land Old as time and twice as strong Oceans arise at my command I alone can carry on To break her chains Forward I push on into the storm surrounding me I await her strike Could it be she's reached the pinnacle now? Silence as I stand within the eye In this hurricane of her design And watch as I drain the light from inside Now at last I see what must be done and so I fly Firm within my grasp I hold the spark and shatter it See her eyes go dark Could it be I've finally won the war now? I see the clouds are gone The storm that raged is quiet once again I feel the stars above Shining on the fragments that remain Search within, uncover the will to win Turn against the tide that washes o'er Find the strength to fall and rise again Open up the gates, unleash the force I am the wind that shapes the land Old as time and twice as strong Oceans arise at my command I alone can carry on No What is this I see? Broken before me Once again I pay the price I've nothing without sacrifice

I can't tell you how much I needed this video today! Rough weekend. Feeling stressed from work today. Your energy was ultra contagious! Thanks!!! Having said that, super important info about the song: this is the climax of the 2 album epic story that btittney wrote (that is currently being made into a graphic novel). It is the epic battle between the immortal and the matriarc on a baren planet. After hurling rocks, lightening, and everything else they can at eachother, he finds himself next to her in the eye of the hurricane she created where he reaches up, grabs her by the throat and crushes it...enter Rush LOL. If you haven't delved into the lore of it yet, it really does make the music even more epic. Before I interviewed her, I made a map of her universe and put numbers next to where the tracks would've taken place and surprised her with it while playing a game I made called "name that map". Then when I saw them live they all signed it and I gave them a copy. Great stuff!! Off to see what else you've covered! Also, I've collabed with a lot of youtubers in the past, so let me know if you're ever interested!

The is a video on KZread of this song performed live at the Alcatraz festival and while the audio is not the greatest, vocally Brittney takes it up another notch from the studio recording, if that is even possible. 🤯

I am almost 50 years old. I grew up with Iron maiden, Helloween, Skyclad, Fates warning. This is one of the best ever metal or power metal songs I have ever heard. Equal to rime of the ancient mariner, equal to keeper of the seven keys. I love this band. Great reaction my friend. Try Soulbound

Cannot wait for you to do more UTA. Id love to see your reaction to some of their earlier stuff. Very different from this in some ways, more death metal-ie, more prevalent screams, very heavy. Some of my favs, Four In Hand, Tied to A Stag, and Crypt. Dont get me wrong, listen to EVERYTHING they put out, they are an incredibly talented band. Love your reactions man, I went through your whole Sleep Token Playlist in one sitting. I had a similar experience when I first heard them. Keep up the good work man, and rock on.

Hey bro! Not only is this Unleash the Archers' magnum opus, it's the only song I've ever heard that is the closest to the final battle between Neo and Smith in Matrix: Revolutions. This is the climax of the fight between the Immortal and the Matriarch, my friend. And you are absolutely right: Brittney has such an underrated voice, and this band is so underrated overall, they need more exposure so they can get the true praise they deserve -- despite the fact they already have one award, their Juno Award, for Abyss when it won 2020 Metal Album of the Year in Canada.

It shows best what she is able to pull of (Karaoke-Bar, no Studio Gimmiks AND Aftershow). And it's the Video that makes Arjen Lukassen put her on the last Star One Album.

Oh man, you haven't done soulbound yet!? That's definitely my favorite song! A lot of people beg for tonight we ride after awakening, but I think abyss then soulbound is the way to go. Oh well. Either way, look forward to your other videos. Oh, sorry, rambling today. You want another obscure gem, check out Brothers of Metal! They delve heavily in Norse Mythology. Kunaz Dugaz is a nice well-rounded song to get a taste, but they go in many directions. 3 singers, 3 guitarists, viking shit...you can't go wrong!

This song cemented them into one of my favorite bands of all time. It's very rare for music to make me emotional and this band has a special way of doing that. If you haven't done Ten Thousand Against One it's another one of my personal favorites by them. Honesty their last 2 albums Apex and Abyss are all killer no filler and I do not say that lightly. And if you weren't aware then have a new album coming out early 2024 I believe.

Brittney has said this is one of her favorite songs to sing live and she just gets lost in the story. Can't remember if I mentioned it before, but they did a cover of Sunglasses At Night for the Japan release of this album which is awesome. One of my favorite covers ever. I can't listen to it without smiling.

Brittney's done a couple videos explaining the overall story for these 2 albums, and they're really worth a watch. This song is incredible in any case, but when you understand its role in the greater story it's just.. goosebumps. Every time.
