So glad this is something my coach immediately tells new white belts not to do if he sees it from them, it’s nice to be in a gym where safety taken seriously

We teach to pull one side or the other with the seatbelt. Straight back only if they're sitting on their butts and legs are out of the way.

Also, not just the safety factor, but most people who do this tend to throw themselves backwards and in doing so create a lot of space too I've reffed blue belts at comps who still do it and I cringe every time

PURPLE BELT DID THAT DUMB SH*T TO ME. WORST HE PULLED MY COLLAR FROM MY TURTLE WHILE HE SAT ON MY BACK.

Same thing in competition lol. I’d rather tap than be in a knee brace for 6 months and further potential consequences for life. People forget most of us are competing recreationally and non of us are joining the UFC. We have work the next morning and a family to provide for. I need my legs

He’s going slow in the video and his partner is moving his leg to prevent injury but in real life when the person on the back very quickly drops back the person on the bottom has their knees bent and can get trapped as it bends more and more, causing a blow out
