There are so many forks and pins that weren't possible in regular chess lol. I'm actually better at this gamemode than regular chess (1800 vs 1600)

This collab with supercell has to be the best one ever made

21:05 you can win after this move by playing Rh8 and freezing the king. Without a freeze of their own, black has no way of stopping the rook from jumping over the knight to take the king on the next turn.

And if they don’t take the knight then go do knight to f7 anyway and that’s a fork and queen can’t take or the g5 knight will take back, give check and fork the king and rook and the option for the king is to move and then you take the rook and you’re up a piece.

Nice explanation -- thanks! So much easier to figure out what a new variant is by watching a video. Reading rules just doesn't make it come alive. I liked jump spell Rd8 around the time that he played Kf7, toward the end of the game. Can you jump for positional reasons or does it have to be a jump capture, I wonder.

This is pretty neat, I enjoy variants on the classic game. It would be interesting if there was an element of chance added to the spells, like area of effect for the freeze based on a dice roll maybe.

It's really tough with black. I think c6 is the best first move preventing Bb5 + freeeze on c7. However after like e4 e5 Bb5 freeze c7 you can respond with Bb4 freeze on c2.

You can jump and take the king, it is checkmate... I just did it! If such a move is possible, your opponent sgoyldnt prevent it(it is not illegal for your opponent to not block jump check)! You should find u can take the king using jump. I had my queen on h4, jumped g2 pawn and took the king. 😅

Can you give a health portion to Nelson?

Around 9:28 I was thinking you could jump your own pawn with the queen to d6...would've been interesting.

you lose your rook but after taking the queen, you can capture in g5 to attack their rook with your pawn.

at the move 16 he could've just played Bd6+ that literally wins a rook, freezing the bishop will just result of e5 defending the bishop and the king Can't take the bishop because it's protected. and because if you take then u can freeze the king and the queen then play Qxg7 because the king and the queen will still be frozen so you play e5+ forking the king and the queen when they get unfrozen black is forced to sac the queen for 2 pawns because he is in check.

I think black can defend with jump@e6 and Qxd6. But then white can take kingside pawns so it would be not bad for Nelson.

​@@ggmoyangoh yeah I forgot about that one, also he is up 2 pieces and I have another line that wins the queen immediately, and that is Qxg7 and freezing the queen but not freezing the g file because Nelson queen is there, and since pieces can capture freezed pieces so he can take the queen the next turn and the game should be easy after that

I don't agree with freez being the most powerful (haven't watched everything yet). Freeze doesn't do anything unless your opponent does it first (there are some exceptions). Most of my games with greater opponents go without freeze because no one wants to waste it (only noobs use it to win my queen, not realising I can freeze back the attacking piece). The jump spell is what's game changer, because it threatens to win by capturing King, even if he is protected. I had games when again, no one used jump spell but every move we threatened to use it, what changed game dramatically. I would really use jump spell (notice you have only 2, not 5) to win the most powerful piece on a board. It's pretty clever to save one so you can always threaten taking the King

why didn't you freeze their queen in the opening, once the pawn was moved, and then take with your bishop?

@@isakoolsson Yeah, when he said freeze was more powerful and the jump was far less useful, he wasn't clocking how they worked, he was just using jumps to to take bishops early and crap. The problem with freeze is that freezes tend to be symmetrical-- use it to set something up and the opponent counter-freezes resulting in just normal chess in the end, just delayed a turn which can make for mildly interesting side-plays to set up double attacks or something. But jump turns every single pin into an immediate threat that *has* to be addressed. Jump is by far the more powerful spell here.
