Playing for Laughs at London’s Wackiest Arcade
Every arcade’s got “Pac-Man,” “Donkey Kong” and “Space Invaders.” But if you’ve got a hankering for something other than pinball, pop into Novelty Automation, the one and only arcade with gaming gems like “Pet or Meat,” “Autofrisk” and “Crankenstein.” Sprung from the brain of Tim Hunkin, each and every one of the arcade’s coin-operated machines is built by hand, made for the pure love of silly. Unlike typical games that center around prizes and competition, Hunkin’s creations exist simply to surprise and delight. What began as a hobby has spun into a lovely sanctum dedicated to laughter and play.

I can't believe these machines are all from you! I've grown up visiting my Grandad in Norfolk and we always go to the pier there with all of your arcade machines. They are just so quirky and alternative it's unreal. Always one of my favourite things about going there!:)

1:57 "-And it feels really weird." - Tim Hunkin
I've been to the arcade on the peir in Southwold. It was absolutely hilarious. Me and my brother real enjoyed it when we went out by ourselves with some money, it was just non-stop laughing. My brother enjoyed the dog walking simulation the most. Really love all of the games.

I wonder how this guy is doing during COVID
He seems so wholesome, and he truly has talent!!
this guy is the coolest! We need more authentic people like him in this world
OMG that's Tim Hunkin for that great show the Secret Life of Machines! Awesome dude.
Wow so wierd and cool! God bless him I hope he's still alive and that I would be able to visit there one day!
Tim Hunkin did a really awesome and informative series for the UK's Channel 4 called "The Secret Life of Machines" in the late 80s and early 90s. So cool to see him here on Great Big Story! Thank you!
The show Tim created, "The Secret Life of Machines," was one of my favorites when I was younger. I recall seeing the machine the "Chiropidist" in the show. So nice to see him still in top form!
I remember visting here. I played everything and had no idea he was the one who built them all! It was a real good laugh though. The most fun I've had in a long time.
This man is an absolute genius. I love how he created all the machines himself. It would be cool to meet this man one day.
Buddy your living your dream! Very rare thing indeed...
This is really cool! Glad he is able to enjoy making games for others to enjoy as well. Great video and keep up the good work, Good Sir!
I luv this...this old man is so frickin adorable and his inventions are so cool. I would go to his arcade everyday😁

He amazing! I love how he passionate and enjoy doing what he love. I appreciate this.✨💜
LOVE this video. I feel so much better about my life choices after watching this.
He seems like a really kind and creative old man! Oh, how I love him!

If its of any use, there's plenty of youtube tutorials on making your own virtual pinball machine. Its basically just 2 televisions, some downloaded software and some joystick buttons inside a wooden cabinet. Obviously not the same as in the video or anything, but may be worth a look..

Visited a while back but it looks like there are some new machines. Autofrisk has a punchline that you need to experience then encourage friends to try.
Very intresting!👍👌👌👌
You have to take your shoe of and stick it in the machine....and it feels realy weird. I've a feeling he's hidden in the machine 😂
Actually been to the arcade on the coast. Very fun!!!
Here just as youtube starts recommending it to everyone again
Omg this reminds me of Wallace and Gromit :D
Great and innovative
You can tell he loved talking about it.
This guy is a true artist
I've been there! It's in Holborn. Well worth a visit :)
Just amazing
His smile feels so genuine😭
MONA (museum of Old New Art) in Tasmania would be interested in a few of these machines. What an oddly cool guy!
I went to the London version and its impressive to go experience it yourself!
I went to the one on the pier a few years back and I swear that place has its own sort of otherworldly vibe to it
I love this vid
That drone one is cool
I’ve been to the arcade on the pier in Southwold. I still have the prescription from the machine that writes you a prescription 😝
OH MY GOD I HAVE YOUR BOOK FROM THE 80'S "ALMOST EVERYTHING THERE IS TO KNOW BY TIM HUNKIN"! YOU'RE A LEGEND! I have two actually.. In good condition, any chance ya can sign em?
