I like the black knob. It looks futuristic 😊
I integrated my DS1 distortion box over 35 years ago also made the first practice headphone amplifier for my guitar well over 40 years ago. ( many years before the Walkman was invented). As an avid guitar player, builder, and singer I realized you can’t bend down on stage to adjust your distortion pedal. Having it in the guitar was an incredible feature. I started making guitars at the age of 16. Built over 20 guitars and repaired many for my friends and family. I think this guitar you review is fantastic. It’s very innovative. And in ways that I believe are the most useful for a giging musician. Thank you for doing these reviews! You take a lot of the guesswork out of trying to buy that one guitar that will inspire you to play and be creative. I think you should also do a video on going to a guitar shop and how to find that perfect guitar. There are more things you can cover also like intonation, neck shapes, radiuses, and how the guitars are balanced with a strap.
You never fail us. Always something wierd, wacky, wonderful, crazy, cool and/or just dang awesome.
This really cool. Seen many attempts of this over the years. This one is on point.

I got to thinking about what I believe was the first being Peavey, back in the 70s, having a guitar with plug-in hardware modules for different effects.
Besides the cool effect built in, this guitar looks the business! The neck is awesome which is important to a guitars appearance. Thanks Darrell!
Darell you are always ahead of. Time... Thank you soo much for all the new tech guitars.. Love from Mauritius ❤️
I have seen this on Amazon for a while. It is great to see you review it just to see what it is all about and if it is worth the money. The color is great.
Love the video Darrell as always. I went on the website and out of stock of course. Can't wait to add for practice. Arte et Marte!
I love my S801. I use it all the time - a great investment for me. Even with the FX off, used as a traditional guitar it's great. I love how it feels to play.
Love Darrell's videos. I can't say that I would ever use this for live performance, but for someone looking for an all in one, this looks pretty cool.

Stylistically, I would prefer an effects knob marched to the others. Most people would probably be able to remember which was the effects knob without making it so imposing.

Hi Darrell, so many tones at your fingertips. Great idea & very well presented. Well made also. Cheers 😀
New take on an old idea. Electra guitars had a guitar back in the 70's that had effects cartridges in it which you could switch out, and you had some switches and knobs to control them.

Holy crap, I hope so much someone will make this smart switch thingy to diy into your own guitar! My Vrede (cheapo guitar I'm upgrading on a budget) wants one!
Love you DBG, but man you should have shown the app and all the cool stuff inside it! You can setup a looper that is synced with the drum machine, tune your guitar, learn new chords, and model each pickup to sound like other guitars. I have my neck model as a LP and it’s so cool. I have a lot of guitars and this one is hands down the most fun and I play the most because of the built in looper and drum machine that hooks right up to my headphones!

Great demo or a very unique guitar. Sounds really good and, of course, your tasteful playing.

Thinking seriously about getting this. It would be perfect for my 14 yr old daughter who just started playing a year ago. That is my story and I'm sticking to it!
Definitely on my wish list. Nice.
My problem with guitar brands adding tech like this into a guitar is that they don’t guarantee people will be able to upgrade the hardware once it becomes outdated and unsupported (or can’t be updated by firmware updates anymore). If I heard GTRS would guarantee that they would eventually be selling upgradable hardware module kits (preferably plug and play modules for people without technical knowledge of soldering and upgrading electronics) to replace the v1 super switch for a v2, v3, etc., I’d be more on board (pun intended) with the idea of buying a guitar that had embedded effects. While the guitar would always have the analog playability, I’d rather spend the extra money on a better quality guitar, use an iRig/app setup, and/or buy modeling amp. Personally, I prefer the concept of the Jamstik Studio guitar (which is an ALP Leaf 100 with Zivix’s electronics) that has wireless midi and analog modes, and it literally can have modeled effects via apps/amps (or it’s headphone jack), recording features, and so many more possibilities for $799 MSRP (often less when they have sales). You should review the JamStik Studio, actually, if you want to review a guitar with serious tech that’s very multi faceted (though it also will have issues with the same inability to upgrade the hardware issue at some point). It’s really a well made with an AMAZING neck and has amazing reviews by owners of the guitar.

@@einarabelc5 do you not know how to read and/or lack comprehension skills? You think I’m getting paid to write comments?! 😂😂😂😂 Let me break it down for you in lament’s terms because you’re clearly lacking in the 🧠🤓📚👨🏻🏫 department: You’re saying I’ve been paid by the competition, and that guitar wasn’t even the main subject of my comment. 1) I made an intelligent, thoughtful comment about the big problem with embedding tech within instruments like the one Darrell reviewed being that companies provide no way to upgrade the hardware in the future. That tech eventually becomes obsolete and makes the instrument an essential and/or total brick several years down the line. 2) I mentioned Jamstik Studio as an example of a better way to spend one’s money if a person is going to buy a guitar with hardware inside being that it offers many more useful modeling, recording, MIDI, and other features (with all software included free) for $799 or less with sale prices. 3) I also suggested this guitar because it still can function as an analog guitar, so the guitar will still play as a high quality sounding strat like any other guitar even when the hardware eventually becomes obsolete when they create a Jamstik 2, 3, etc. or if they eventually go out of business. Many other guitars with embedded tech don’t have a separate analog capability, so those “instruments” would land in the trash just like phones, computers, and other devices when they become obsolete. 4) I suggested that Darrell review the JamStik Studio because he’s always looking for interesting, small brands that have unique features and high quality. JamStik Studio is an extremely well-reviewed guitar if you look on their own website, Amazon, Sweetwater, Reverb, and other shops. Go to the Jamstik website and read about the guitar. Read the reviews. Watch the demos on KZread. Is it not worthy of being shared with Darrell’s audience? I think he would absolutely love this polyphonic MIDI/analog guitar, the only one of its kind in the world, and I’m certain the audience would love it too. 5) I’ve never been paid by a company to push their merchandise, review their products, etc. I wouldn’t even know how to do that, lol. But I would not accept payment for doing so even if it were offered to me. 6) You’ve never recommended guitars and gear to people? There are probably very few people who would say no because we all do it - even those of us with a single guitar will happily tell people about it if we love and enjoy it. 7) 🙄🙄🙄🙄

Cool vid man, I’d like to see this tech on entry level guitars.
Definitely geared towards the home player and traveling hobbyist, but the best solution I've seen in a while. Mooer makes some great gear these days and that makes a $649 purchase an easier decision. If it was Firefly or other garbage I wouldn't go near it.
@robertfought9703

Firefly is garbage? First I've heard of that!
I'm definitely caught between two stools here... as a practice instrument, being able to plug headphones straight in is a big plus! For gigging, though, most players will already have set-up of pedals that offer much more flexibility on the fly. Recording could be interesting - downloading patches to suit - but then it's competing against the myriad of FX available for DAWs. It's almost like the proverbial answer to a problem that doesn't exist.

Darrell, some beauties on the community page... I have not seen you review Hagstrom... .. naw YT won't let me post a photo of the Tremar Viking Deluxe; now there's a killer headstock. My favourite among my electrics is still my 69 Hagstrom Mark11, bought new in 1969; SG style body with a thin Strat style neck... even sounds good unplugged and miked; just tapping the body you hear a lovely tone. A joy to play. Needs electronics replaced, gone scratchy and buzzy..
In have this one (white worth rosewood neck) and put the Vega tree along with the ratio tuners, OMG I love it!
I had a Zoom 9002 in High School 30 years ago that allowed me to play with headphones and wore it on the guitar strap itself, and it had push buttons connected to it that allowed me to switch patches. This is the next generation of that, and beyond. What would be really cool is if they Sold a unit that fits into a regular strat and you could use your own guitar!

The Prime P1 is effectively (pardon the pun) the effects unit part in a little box that looks like an old iPod. I have one velcroed to the back of my bass, so I can select four effects just by pushing a button on the back of the bass (I could select more if I were to get the footswitch he mentioned). Very handy for gigs in small pubs where there's very little room for any effects pedals on the floor.
Cool guitar! It’s got a magic glowing effect button
Cool concept many companies are dipping into...the Lava brand carbon fiber acoustic guitars have an actual color touchscreen built into it...pretty cool
It’s like a spark amp built into the guitar! Definitely gonna pick up one of the p800 series!
this reminds me of the TV's with a built in VCR. I like my components separate: guitar, pedalboard, amp or direct interface, etc. I think there are situations where this would be convenient, and it looks, sounds good, just not my personal style. cool video though!

I play in a duo at a swanky resort every Saturday. For that it is perfect. I just go wireless directly into the house PA and my 4 presets on the footswitch are all the same amp setting, but with a different effect for each (reverb, delay, tremolo).

This was an nice test of this very versatile guitar that's priced affordably, aleast here in Norway, to other Stratocaster guitars.
Great sounding guitar
Cool bro, i liked it.
I was hoping you would review this. Have you ever reviewed a Variax James Taylor? That actually appeals to me more (it can do different tunings)
I feel like this is a better idea than the spark because it doesn't limit the fullness and volume with a small amp you could put this through your big rig and gig with it
Just ordered one through your link from Amazon. Let’s see how it does. Arriving this Friday
Dope guitar! The tones are really clean! Can you please make a video on how you record, and mix your guitars? I really like the sound!
Did you have issues with the string tree? I saw another review where they had to replace it as it was way too low resulting in the guitar having huge tuning issues. New tree sorted the problems.
So when you're on a stage playing a gig and you want to turn an effect on and off you have to literally take your strumming hand stop playing the guitar and hit the button and fart around to find the effect you want on one knob while missing a beat of your guitar playing that makes a lot of sense to me!!! Foot pedals still rule. Effects are lot easier to control with your separate pedals on or off we with your feet
After a few months of use as an intermediate player, I must say that it has other VERY usefull practice tools including practice on headphones, intergrated tuner, drum machine, looper and bluetooth input for backing tracks!
I'd love to see the inside of it, where they put the relays, what computer is inside it, how it captures the signal etc.
it's awesome 🎇❤
I'm surprised more guitar companies have not done this already. If you take the spark amp . Put in a guitar with blue tooth and connect to your tablet, unlimited effects when you want and upgradeable.
The Vox Starstream (1967) featured a load of onboard effects. Didn't catch on, although Sonic Boom of Spacemen 3 used one to great effect.
Love this
Brilliant idea great guitar
The world is getting digital, and so is the guitar. As always a pleasure to watch Darrell, and of course it's a surfgreen guitar :) Don't really se why the feature couldn't be a pedal or "add on" below the jack, so you could use it with any guitar. I 5 years the knob will probably be outdated, with no update options, and then the guitar is "stuck" with it. But nice to see some evolution :)
@kimamey
2 жыл бұрын
Isn't this an integrated version of the Vox, Fender Mustang Micro, NUX Mighty Plug etc headphone amps? If that's the case I would imagine a firmware update would be possible. If it was able to be removed and replaced with a new version after the firmware was at it's limit then that would be brilliant. It certainly looks like a more convenient option.
The advantage to using a multieffects pedal (or laptop/tablet) is that if you break a string, you don't need the same exact guitar as a backup.

If - a big "If" - you don't use too many effects, this is really cool. Having 2 or 3 onboard means not having to haul a pedalboard around, risking damage, etc. If you like lots of effects, I can see this being ignored. I'm in the first camp, so I'd be interested if I played professionally.
