Planting a Neem Tree and its benefits

Neem trees require plenty of bright sunlight. The trees benefit from regular moisture, but be careful not to overwater, as the tree won’t tolerate wet feet or poorly drained soil. Allow the soil to dry between every watering. Feed the tree about once a month in spring and summer, using a light application of any good quality, balanced fertilizer, a dilute solution of water-soluble fertilizer or apply a diluted fish emulsion. Happy gardening!

Which part of the US , is this please ? It’s 10 c cooler under this tree, than the surroundings. Growing up in India , this tree was kept for shade and the leaves were used with turmeric to cure chicken pox.

While consuming neem leaves for medicinal purposes one should not eat / refrain from having yoghurty/ curd /sour / citrusy ,taste food otherwise it might not serve the purpose or adverse effect ths how it's been described in Auyerveda those who are concerned abt winters it's ok to hv it planted in cold areas we hv lot of neem trees naturally here in Rajasthan and temperature here go well below minus 3 on gud cold days can't say abt any thing below tht temperature but I think it should b fine ... once it starts growing it can grow realy huge ..

I know of several people who grow in California. But it is Southern California. If you have a hard winter it may not survive. We had a brutal winter this year and mine did not survive.

I am in zone 8. We just had an unusual freeze. We were without power and water all across our state. As for us we did great. I prepare for things like this. But as for my plants, only spring will tell. We protected what we could but not sure it helped.

This is a ver invasive tree, i have a few and they seed incredibly fast. The bark and leaves burn easily and i do that for mosquitoes.

Invasive? Didn't know that about it. I haven't had a problem with that but it is good to know. I do have several plants that could be invasive if I didn't keep them in control. The benefits much out way the work to keep them in check. Thank you for the info.

Try seeds mam. I had seed from sri lanka, it grew very fast. If it grows straight.. on the top cut little, you going to have couple of branches. I have 10 trees in the house, I kept them in big 3 pot. I want to my mother happy, that's the reason I plant after that I know, 1/4 feet tree for 30 dollar in Canada
