I use Memoria Press recitation guides! I like it a lot. It includes more basic knowledge, like months of the year, number of planets, etc. I was a lot better about teaching my oldest some of that basic knowledge but my second child, age 6, didn't know a lot of it. I find it very helpful.

Can you share more about your afternoon tea times? Do you do tea time everyday? I know some people who just do it on Tuesday.

Love that you're putting together your own curriculum! Definitely look into Heart of Dakota. Really great book choices broken up by age and time periods. ❤

The Well Trained Mind is an excellent guide. And I too love choosing books for my little one. 🙌☺️

Love your videos and the ideas and examples you share. Thanks for the links! I’m making a list of US history picture books we’ll go through this next school year (hadn’t heard of a couple of these).

I think we’re going to have one day per week dedicated to all things US. US history, American tall tales, US geography, etc. I’m compiling a list as well but I’ll have to get those from the library but let me know if you find any stand-out ideas!

America! Thank you so much for this video and breaking it down so clearly in these two parts. I have been trying to watch/listen as I steal away minutes here and there, so I will have to come back and watch the TWO parts again. This is excellent and truly helpful. I echo your sentiment that I do enjoy choosing the books. And Im so excited to learn along with my kids. Thanks for taking the time to make the video.

This is great! We are also a CM inspired homeschool. I have 6 children ages 9 months to 13 yrs old and we’ve always homeschooled. We will be starting Ancient History this fall. I’m very interested in what you put together. I am using the first 2 volumes of SCM and adding a ton more living books bc I have voracious readers. I love seeing all the books you chose. Can’t wait for the next video.

I'm really excited to have found your channel! I've been using the CM approach to home education from the beginning, 15 years ago. I've never tried putting my own curriculum together. In the beginning, I used AO. I then used SCM briefly. And I've recently landed on A Gentle Feast. I look forward to watching more of your videos!

This is so awesome. I hope you have a satisfying year. I will return to this video for future reference when I'm ready to create my own. I always go off the curriculum on my own anyways 😂 finish certain books sooner then planned- read only a few paragraphs of others, etc. On holidays like MLK day etc I will put the curriculum away and read from the library and have my daughter do copy work and define new vocabulary words/terms of that lesson.

Hello from Australia! This was sooo helpful. I am planning my own CM/Classical curriculum for my son for next year. It helps to see your thought process and the resources you chose. Can't wait to see your schedule of how it all fits together!

Thank you for your videos. I have always made my own curriculum in the past but i always fill it up with too much, so this year I'm thinking about buying without doors and following a curriculum for the first time and also trying out Gentle and classical primer. I might end up just making my own again... we'll see 🤷‍♀️

Thanks for sharing! I am going through the Bible chronologically with my daughter (9yo) and we used Jen Wilkins books, “God of Creation” and “God of Deliverance” to study Genesis and Exodus. They are excellent studies and have great questions. We benefited and learned a lot by using them. I highly recommend.

I never thought to use these with children but that’s a great idea! I’m co-leading Ten Word to Live By written by Wilkin this summer with women from my church so this is something to think about! I just did God of Deliverance with my church this past winter and it was awesome!

@@AHeartForHomeEducation I’m using AGF and AO as our ‘base’ but I tend to scrap what is suggested and piece it together. I’ve never found an all in one CM curriculum that suits us best. I was debating on using SOTW or using suggestions for the time periods. We also are part of Classical Conversations so when our studies line up with time periods with them it’s really fun. But I don’t base our learning around Classical Conversations. Hope that makes sense. I’m going to check out a couple places you suggested and see what I come up with. Thanks again for sharing.

I prefer the Lamb's version for Shakespeare, and to help with confusing stories too many characters we use peg dolls to help reenact (not themed just random or blank peg dolls). Oh you have to do Railway Children!!! It's amazing, and there is a good audiobook version and movie (the older one). My young ones love Hidden Scrolls, clean, wholesome, walking the line of twaddle probably but good early readers. The Harp and Laurel Wreath keeps going in and out of my cart, just not sure! Highly recommend pre-reading Trial & Triumph if you have sensitive kids, the first few ones are martyrs and a bit graphic though my children didn't have issues, I know many who did.

So many helpful tips! Thank you! I may read both Lamb’s and Nesbit’s versions this summer and compare and then choose from there. I plan to read “How to Teach Your Children Shakespeare” as well. The peg doll idea is fantastic! I may look into paper doll options as I’ve got a paper doll loving girl. Ok, you’ve talked me into Railway Children! 😆 Hidden Scrolls definitely looked like it could toe the line of twaddle, but I’m glad to hear it’s wholesome nonetheless. My hope is that the siblings in the book have a good relationship.
