Today, we're talking about our summer plans for rest from academics while still brushing up on our skills. I talk about some light summer curriculums I plan to use, some Mother Culture plans, read-alouds, and so much more. We're planning to be outdoors as much as possible while still feasting on some good ideas, and occasionally practicing some academic skills.

My sister makes a summer reading bingo game for the summer with different places to read or genres. At the end they get a prize or money. Example: read a book in a hammock, read a book under a pillow fort, ect. Stuff to make reading fun.

I'm also going through 24 Family Ways with my children. I've added the family ways we've done so far to our memory work box. That's been helpful for us.

Love all the H names! My siblings and I all have H names too. My children all start with Z.

Thanks for the inspiration! I was focusing on finishing some academics this summer but you inspired me to also be intentional about habits and keeping up with my personal growth.

As a new homeschooling mother leaning towards a classical Charlotte Mason style, I have just found your channel, and your videos are so refreshing! I would love a video on a deep dive into your mother culture. Thank you for the inspiration ❤️

I love how organized and creative you are with your planning; I enjoy canva for making pretty schedules too, but only have the free version right now. I also love how realistic you are in holding your plans with an open hand. I have a 4.5 year old, so we’re not in formal lessons, but he’s been interested in reading, so we’re doing Simply Charlotte Mason’s Delightful Reading (Level 2) box this summer and BOB early readers and so far, it’s been really fun to see his interest and progress, though I need to remind myself to not push lessons if he’s not interested that day since he doesn’t need to be reading this early so there’s no pressure. But it’s been sweet to see him try to read to his 1.5 year old sister. We are working on some habits (breaking bad ones and replacing with good ones) and will have lots of fun read-aloud picture books, and continue with tea time M-F (alternating Manners Monday, poetry on Tuesday and Thursdays, art or music study on alternating Wednesdays, and FFF (Folk,Fairy tale, Fable) Fridays. I’ll also continue our morning time during breakfast (catechism, scripture, Bible storybook, folk and hymn songs.

Sounds like a beautiful kinderleben/babyleben experience! My 4.5 year old is also eager to read, so he will be my earliest to start reading lessons, but I'll be doing a similar, slow & steady start. I love your FFF abbreviation!! We could live on the 3 F's!!

❤That’s such a good idea 🎉 We do the same. We take a gentle approach as we are flexible but rigorous during the school year. Such pretty schedules/checklists. We also integrate in local items like summer reading programs, free field trips, VBS, etc

Do you do tea time everyday? Edit: I see where you said you won’t do it daily. How many times a week do you aim for? Right now we just do a poetry picnic on Friday’s (when home). My kids are just 4 and 6 so starting light.

That sounds wonderful! Yes, we probably do it 3x per week. It truly depends on the weather and if we have any outings or playdates.
