I had some skipping of engagement on my BSD Revolution from new, luckily I found a comment online straight away that said to make sure the nuts were nice and tight. Mine were pretty good but that tiny extra bit of tightening made all the difference.

@@kiikii7815 the clutch should engage the paws when rolling forward hence there should be the cassette sound. If there isn't, then I suggest that you open up the internals and check the clutch and the paws. You need to rewatch this video again. and in case you haven't, do tighten the jam nut on the drive side as Brant mentioned at 5:44. And also like Brant said, do not grease up the internals on this hub.

One tip with the Planetarys is that it doesn't like extremely tight chains. When I first got my BSD hub last year, it wouldn't engage and when I contacted BSD that was one of the suggestions. Sure enough once I loosened my chain from where i had it, all was good. You can keep your chain tight, just not super tight.

@@Brant_Moore The new manufactured clutch is so much better and beefier than the OG freenight. I had the freenight and had various troubles and actually wound up destroying the clutch. The only problems I have had with the BSD in the last year were fixed by loosening the chain and making sure the cone nuts are tight. The OG freenight had me replacing O-rings in the first month... People should definitely give the Revolution or the Venus a shot. Now if only there was a female axle version!

That’s crazy that you destroyed one. I practically tried to destroy one myself and let other people do anything they wanted with it on my bike. The hub is still just fine as a backup for me. Had an idea for lubing this hub easily with no mistakes. High quality q tip like the black ones used for dabbing. Soak it in triflow. You can sponge on a little bit in just the areas you need. I can see someone accidentally putting too much lube and having to rip it apart to clean lol

If you’re intending to keep the unit dry WD40 is a wet lubricant unless you mean WD40 dry PTFE spray which goes on wet but dries leaving a PTFE coating. How do remove the ratchet ring that the pawls engage with as I can’t find anything on this.
