    Hey Brad, I really like your Pitcairn Island videos. Sad there are no new ones. Maybe because you don't live there anymore? I'd love to know what life on Pitcairn is like now. What are people up to? Are there many young people? I'm very interested in Pitcairn Island and might visit in the next two years. Greetings from Germany. Bye.

    @@bradbrown3447 Definitely unique and interesting! My question wasn't clear, though. I was thinking about the aging and shrinking population. It seems that there are too few (any?) younger residents, with children, wanting to stay permanently. Once the kids go off-island for high school they seem to be unlikely to return and stay. If I understand correctly, a few years ago there was a major campaign (by UK, New Zealand?) to entice people to relocate to Pitcairn but there was little interest. Like you said, because of its unique beauty the island will never be abandoned. But without a growing population my guess is the island will be only a temporary home to rotating residents doing one-year "tours of duty" to keep the island viable for tourism. Instead of being a vibrant island nation, I fear it will become only tourist attraction run by "staff" instead of Pitcairn citizens. OK, I'm a pessimist. What do I know? ;-)

  • @bradbrown3447

    @bradbrown3447

    Yes i see what you are saying. The number of people looking to spend their life on Pitcairn is dwindling. Although it doesn't take many people to keep the Island alive. As long as there is a core group who live there. That would provide the platform for returning islanders to spend a few months every couple of years on island and help where they can. That is probably a reasonably sensible way to keep Pitcairn alive and it is also how i hope to operate in the future. Hope that makes sense 😅

  • @noneofyourbusiness4433

    @@bradbrown3447 Thanks for your reply. That sounds very promising for the island's future. When I was in the US Navy I served on Guam for two years. Yeah, it's an island in the middle of the ocean, but compared to Pitcairn it's huge: 500 sq km, 160,000 people, airport with direct flights to Japan, South Korea, Philippines, Hawaii, etc. Even with all that, I felt some sense of isolation having grown up in the middle of the US . It's hard for me to imagine living in far greater isolation without having grown up there. The Pitcairn Islanders have created an amazing home and life on that little island and I'm happy for them. I wish you and the people of Pitcairn all the best! I can't wait for the next batch of videos you create during your next visit ;-)
