The best trilogy ever, still love part 3 among the franchise despite the critics! Sadly part 4 & 5 are just studio cash grabs that killed the franchise. 29:05 Fun fact: the scene where Jack and Beckett are talking for the first time in this movie, there's a deleted scene showing their previous relationship by Beckett saying that he remembered seeing the Black Pearl sinking while set on fire (caused by Beckett) because Jack set free "cargo", which Jack replied that "people aren't cargo, mate". This implies that those people were Beckett's slaves. Not only Beckett sank the Black Pearl, but he branded Jack with a "P" on his wrist so the Navy would go after him for being a pirate.

Almost Mr. Movies. Yes Jones is the Ferryman, but no; Beckett has nothing to do with it. Jones had corrupted his duty over a century before Beckett was ever even born. Jones HIMSELF stopped ferrying souls and became the mutated sea creature he is now after Calypso stood him up. That was a LONG time ago. These dead souls are only recently killed yes, but Beckett isn't the cause for why Davey Jones is the way he is.

This it´s a great great movie, with a total rollercoaster at the end. Some facts: - I think that Norrington it´s a very underrated character. In his best or his fallen, his behaviour was always like a real MAN. That final redemption, leaving Elizabeth and the rest the chance to escape, honors him. And of course he loved her in all moment, and deserved that final kiss. - Jack´s father it´s Keith Richards, the guitarist of the legendary Rolling Stones.

Okay so small detail that isn't explained. If you stab the heart you do not automatically become the Captain of the Flying Dutchman. You have to finish the ritual and replace your own heart with the one you stabbed. "Part of the ship; Part of the crew" is a literal meaning.

I've always felt at odds with the PotC community in relation to this movie. It's my favorite. Objectively the first is the best, and as a trilogy they're solid.... but At World's End is my favorite for all of its solid moments. It wasn't until I was a bit older and watching these movies over again in preparation for a convention, that took a pirate theme that year, that I'd noticed all of the amazing little things that come full circle throughout the trilogy. Everything in the first three FEELS important! That said, there's plenty of stuff from this movie that was left on the cutting room floor that would have helped the narrative out. Some examples are a scene featuring Governor Swann on the Dutchman, making a move on Jones' heart. Hoping to kill Jones and save Elizabeth. At which point Jones enters the room, goads him into doing it by saying the Kraken killed Elizabeth, and then reveals the rules for his curse. After the exchange, and Governor Swann's inability to kill Jones, Mercer and Beckett decide to kill him. and another when Jack and Beckett meet for the first time in the movie. They have an exchange dealing with their prior history. Jack was employed by the East India Trading Company once, tasked with shipping cargo, and set said cargo free. "People aren't cargo, mate." To which Beckett responded with burning the ship, and letting it sink. This scene was a lovely nod to a novel that went over Jack's backstory and told of how the Black Pearl came to be, and how Jack entered into a deal with Davy Jones. (Something that may or may not be disregarded in the future) This trilogy is my all time favorite trilogy. I've watched them nigh endlessly. I love these movies, and I'm glad you guys gave them a shot! Looking forward to On Stranger Tides!

BOTH. It's NOT impossible to hate someone you love, nor to love someone you hat. I would argue that it is in fact impossible to hate someone you do NOT love. "Hate" is an extremely powerful opposition to Love. Hate is also not something one just happens to feel. Hate is something taught and/or cultivated it needs roots to BECOME Hate. There has to be a pre-existing emotional connection of some kind. Hate also takes effort and dedication; just like Love does. so Davey Jones DOES indeed hate Calypso for flaking on him, but he only HATES her because he loves her.

Only the king and the Governor have the power to overrule him; and since he essentially "owns" Governor Swann's political position and influence, no one but the King of England has Authority over him. And the King is...well....in England; not the Caribbean.

There was some forshadowing of Tia Dalma being Calypso in Dead Man's Chest. When the crew is at her hut there is a necklace on the table when Jack is stealing a ring. The picture on the necklace is the same image on the music box on Davy Jones's pipe organ. Furthermore, when Tia tells the tale of how Davy Jones fell in love with a woman, Gibbs says that he heard a different version of the tale in which Jones fell in love with the sea. She then says that they are two versions of the same story and both are true. Keith Richards from The Rolling Stones plays Jack's father. He was Johnny Depp's main inspiration for his character. He was actually set to appear in the previous film but had to pull out due to his commitment with the band's tour. Fun fact: The sword Davy Jones stabs Will with is the sword Will made for James Norrington in Curse of the Black Pearl. Speaking of, James is such an underrated character. He was complex but a good man and he genuinely loved Elizabeth.

They said it couldn't be done. Theme Park attraction turned into one movie and then 2 more. Becoming one of the highest grossing franchises of the 2000s and Disney's history. Johnny Depp's stardom after that first film was astounding. A more-beloved leading man, Oscar/Golden Globe nominations (Best Actor) and a major-box office draw after 20 years in the biz. At World's End was a great finale. Most expect trilogies to come and go. But some of us, even Disney knew it wasn't the last. That last scene of Jack off to another adventure. So, I saw this in theaters; and on a few different DVD versions; AND a few different digital copy versions; and not a single one translates what Giant Calypso is saying as she yells at the crew after she's released. Normally is MOST movies if a foreign or alien language is spoken there is a translation that is included without needing to turn on subtitles. Like in Star Wars for example there is a subtitle option that translates ONLY alien languages (Except Whookie for some reason) but doesn't show any other speech text. Most modern movies since DVD has this option. But there's none here for Giant Calypso's distorted voice. I've always found that curious.

Well you have to be dead, dying or sell your soul to live on board the Flying Dutchman. Elizabeth was neither dead nor dying and William wasn't going to take her soul so. But pretty sure she couldn't go where the captain and crew go anyway; underwater to the land of the dead. It's a bit of a plot hole that Davy Jones stood on land in a bucket of water in the 3rd, and in both 2nd and 3rd movies characters were seen going aboard the Dutchman for short amounts of time, so why couldn't Elizabeth just visit him once a week or something? However, I'm pretty sure both of those only happened because Davy Jones failed his duties as captain, became a fish mutant and basically just a terrible being. What we see Davy Jones doing isn't how it should actually be, so there's that to consider in terms of plot holes. I thought as well it was part of the captains duty's to stay away from his lover (although not 100% sure on that one).

I see that I've worded that poorly. I don't mean 'live or serve' on the Dutchman. Just visits with their child and possibly future children. Norrington towed the Empress back to Beckett with the Dutchman. Elizabeth and the prisoners were in the brig before his change of heart and death. That story arc made me wonder if it was something possible or is there any lore that absolutely prohibits it.

I really enjoy all the plotting by everyone. I can't really explain the details of what everyone is doing but I enjoy the ride. The entire battle in the end is my favorite part though. I disagree about Davy Jones. I think he was given a proper ending. My least favorite part is the release of Callipso. It always felt too goofy.

I like this movie very much. It's the great finale of the original trilogy where all the little and greater story plots come together like Norrington's relationship to Elizabeth, Will's mission to save his father, the love story between Will and Elizabeth in general, Beckett's plan to conquer the sea with the help of Davy Jones etc. Also the rescue of Jack was very well written and filmed, so was the great battle at the end with the dramatic plot twist.

Elizabeth’s speech is arguably the best part of the movie and you edited it out. Thanks. Also to not know that Elizabeth’s last name was Swan until 2/3 way through the 3rd movie in the franchise when she’s virtually the only woman in the franchise and they say her name several times each movie is perplexing. What is your brain doing during these reactions?

Idk how this is ppls least fav. I absolutely am HERE for this movie! I saw this like 5 times in theaters. 😅 I quote this movie all the time! It has the most going for it, all the lore, all the action! I will say it can be hard to understand what each person is doing simply bc of their speech for each character. But I love the maelstrom! I love every second of Barbossa! I love the complicated love story of Davy Jones and Calypso. She IS the sea. He is in love with the sea. It is a love-hate bc she is fickle and will not “behave” for those that sail. It’s a great metaphor. Thats why no one wanted her unleashed again bc the way they had her bound she was calm and the sea was calm for them to sail. They had “tamed” the ocean. As for the marriage of Will and Elizabeth that was probably the most epic wedding I will ever see on screen! ❤ Can’t wait for y’alls next Pirates react!

🎵 Hoist the colors🎵 🫡 Just like the code of the pirates death is more a sort of a guideline. To get back to the Caribbean from Singapore, they had to go South. That means rounding the horn of africa o..r the cape of good hope both of which are close to the antarctic and a treacherous mess. You know there probably was no battle to kill the Kraken. Jones had it under his command and could just order it to beach itself.

If you like supernatural love stories with a happy yet suspenseful and entertaining ending, you’ll love LUCIFER! It’s not what you expect and gets better every season. Especially once Netflix took over for S4 after Fox cancelled the show on one hell of a cliffhanger prematurely (pardon the pun 😅) The writers inconspicuously target the Fox Network through some of Lucifers dialogue, its great 😂 Dedicated fans started the #SaveLucifer campaign that prompted Netflix to resurrect the show due to its fan base and potential. Plus the reactions on KZread to this show when aired was off the charts! I also think it’ll be right up your alley for tears, suspense, and lots of laughs. Lucifer is an amazing show that depicts epic character growths and storyline’s. Another great show is Outlander. Something a little different for you. I notice Mrs Movies wear Back To The Future shirts. Outlander is like a mash up of that and Braveheart, also centred around a love story with conflicted characters and timelines 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿☝️

I never thought about it but now I'm thinking that maybe the davy jones movies would be better as a trilogy, like black pearl would be on it's own as a prologue and there would be one more movie between dead man chest and at world's end (or one after at world's end) then there could have been a little less in the dead man chest and things from the at world's end could have been much better developed
