The fact that any government allows foreign entities to just come in and buy land with the sole purpose of using it as a land bank is honestly stupid to me.

Should seriously looking into squatters rights. Roll in portable tents and PV power and pioneer mobile retrofit production sites. Make it so expensive for foreign investors to keep litigating the evictions that they give up and sell the land pennies on the dollar.

@@thereplacementfordisplacement Not squatter's rights, but a vacant land tax. This is one of the place's where our government in Ontario is criminally negligent - some developer's sit on land until the profit for them is outrageous (FARHI in London for example). If there is NO application to develop, the land should be taxed using a fair formula.

This is actually in "benefit" to many people. Particularly those who purchased as the price of land(or housing) was going up. Now if they regulate land holding and or purchasing, everyone's property will drop in value making people who hold mortgages junk. Junk being you're on the hitch for a 600k mortgage but if you sell the house, let's say it would only be worth 400k. This may just be a family who are buying their forever home or young professionals looking to invest and live on the property. It would be devastating to lose 200k for these people. If it was an overseas corporation, this brings another complication. Canada wants money flowing in as investments. Now neither of these groups want the value of their properties to fall. Say that in both cases, they have a mortgage. Now the banks will lose money. They don't want this either. I think China's Evergreen is a good example of extreme insanity of property as an investment. All of that said, please, for the love of all things sane, DO SOMETHING. Doing nothing can't continue. Please regulate the property market. Start small and don't stop.
Keep making waves, boys
The company is in their infancy but they are already legends.
This is amazing! Keep calling out all the bureaucrats on their lies and corruption. I love what you guys are doing, stay strong.
I may not be a Canadian but I’m glad that you guys are doing this and trying to open people’s eyes to government inefficiency and also the amazing engineering that it takes to produce advancements in automotive technology. Too many companies gave up on aiming for leaps in advancement for profits in the short term.
May the spirit of the old Hayes shop shine down on you folks. I hope you find success there. Would be neat to see an old Hayes get converted over.
Sad to see all that Wasted land. At least you found Something, Happy project.

You guys are having the same problems over there as we are here in the states. A lot of land and real-estate has been bought by Chinese and other overseas investors. Pretty suspicious too if you ask me. Hope you guys can get ahold of that old factory. It'd be a huge success. 🔥

The thing she drove at the end was a "mobility device". It is not meant to go super fast but it will take someone over ground that is not easy to walk on if you have mobility issues. I get this from an earlier video. In another video, Edison Motors explains the government corruption they are currently dealing with. People interested in the company should go find that video.

Can you squat on the foreign owned land? Squatting seems to be all the rage here in the States lol
Is there a way for me to invest into your business? I am in Australia 🇦🇺 . I grew up riding around in my dad's logging trucks.
taxes aren't high enough for foreign property, should not be permitted anyway... grants needed for building, money laundering at it's best!

The old Tolko site would be ideal. It's unfortunate the current land owners and city seem unwilling to work with a startup like Edison to bring those jobs back to Merritt.
Need to have a "empty land" tax for land that is simply being used as a land bank
Hey Edison, wondering if you have any average energy economy values for Topsy (km/kWh, or kWh/100km, etc.). I'm an Electrical Engineer and wanted to run a little comparison study against diesel, 100% electric, and hybrid.
still haven't seen it draw a load of logs will it indeed do the job as stated?

That’s brilliant! Shall we connect?
Wow, it’s hard to believe you’re going to be able to make a go of it without multi million dollar investors involved and just like anything else if it starts growing and making money will be half a dozen other companies out there doing the exact same thing.

WoW. I just saw the Giga factory that Tesla built in Texas. Canada should wake up, and embrace you and the future!
Unused land should really be taxed at punitive rates.
Sounds a lot like hawaii
Inescapable, the irony in the bad guy, good guy role reversal with Edison and Tesla.
A land value tax might be a good idea for all that idle industrial land to help start these businesses
I don't understand why merritt wouldnt want the jobs.
Dont give up. The price of integrety is immeasurable.your making a wave now that will empower more small bussines owners too believe in freedom from an overbearing govt. It only takes one too stand and the rest notice.
Just going to cause price of lumber to skyrocket. One thing Edison was good at was tricking people.
Having same problem with foreign interest buying up farmland in the USA, especially around and near military bases.Could be for spying and surveillance equipment. Some governors and senators are trying to stop that from happening. But money even foreign money can pursuade things to happen.
15 cents a kilowatt would be cheap enough but add 60cents of extra charges makes electric too expensive.
Electric log haulers YA OK
I feel like if the land owners don't do anything with the land, it should default back to the town is in, and no return of the money. They dont develop then they get nothing
Assemble the trucks on crown land in the forest under the trees and hope nobody notices or at least doesn't say anything. Relocate every three weeks, or whenever you get caught, and it's all legal. 😅😅😅
more parts to break, although hybrid is much better then full EV
@cameronbuttigieg9060
2 ай бұрын
Net fewer moving parts actually. No transmission, no driveshaft, no interaxle, you can have a powered steer axle without a transfer case or front driveshaft. Motors are part of each axle. Genset runs at a consistent rpm with a consistent load so it naturally runs cleaner and lasts longer, too. It's a system that's been used in trains and heavy equipment for near a century, just without the batteries. And because your genset kicks on at only 50%, your batteries last longer, too.

No one builds for 1 simple reason. You build anything you pay more tax you sit on it and wait value goes up so control all the land charge what you want. I mean a 20 million dollar home pays 38000 in tax per year. A 500k home pays 4000 in the same area. So why build when it just means you oay alot more
Just heard this on Louis rossmans channel. So sorry:( If I had a million dollars to send you I would
The cure for overseas money jacking up land prices is far simpler than forcing through communist legislation, a sin Justin Trudeau is extremely guilty of, but rather by simple regulations that require the seller to inform the buyer of all relevant information. Such as upfront declaration of Tax Assessed Value, purchase price, and any equity effort put into the land. This last one is any efforts which adds real value to a site.
The whole overseas investors thing NEEDS to stop! They're the reason land prices have skyrocketed the past couple decades! And neither side of the political isle has the guts to just seize all this foreign land back, or even put a stop to future land purchases by foreign investors!
Go to Alberta or out east if you want affordable land. Avoid liberal areas.
Maybe you should just go in and squat on the land.
I can think of worse places to be than the northwest. Fishing anyone? Makes for happy workers.
Wish this company nothing but the best but corrupt BC will stand in your way the whole time
You guy's changed your name to edison eletric? Lmao professionalism in reporting.
the government claims, we need to electrify vehicles... then shuts the door on all canadian businesses.
Pretty sad ( and I would say incompetent) that the politician's of Meritt did not have the foresight to consider passing a by-law for the industrial lands noting that once purchased the owners need to develop the land for business within 2 years (say). Or any other wording that would encourage employment opportunities for the community. Not just land taxes on vacant land. Just saying.
Vacant land that nobody can own but foreign investors ...what a shame that a Canadian citizen can't buy land at good price to build a home or business
HELL YEAH, CALL THE OVERSEAS INVESTORS OUT! You know what Merritt should do? Introduce a significant tax on vacant industrial land that's owned overseas. Make it unaffordable for these foreign land hoarders to stifle the development of your community.

"theres zoned, unused land held by foreign investors hurting our local businesses" "Hahaha go-carts yay" 😐
