My first comment on YT in a long time: this is the kind of content I want to see more of. A misunderstood tennis genius and an abrasive journalist talk it out, get to know eachother and seemingly make a social media feud into a friendship. I've always said this about Kyrgios, he's got feelings and shows them on the court. There's nothing wrong with it. He's the kind of guy you argue with on the court but can take a beer with after the match is over. I'm the same way, like many other sports enthusiasts, a game is a game, when it's over we're all friends.

Kyrgios is interesting because he personifies something that a lot of spectators feel is lacking in today's sport - maverick talent and personality. You won't always get commitment but you'll almost certainly be entertained... so Kyrgios ultimately is value for money.

He actually seems so down to earth and humble. Hearing the struggles he went through puts all his behaviour into perspective. Nice reminder not to judge people too harshly when really we never know what they are dealing with. Good luck to him. Lovely guy.

Wow that was probably the sweetest interview I’ve ever seen between two dudes that seemed to start out disliking each other only to end up with a fantastic bromance. I was rooting for them the whole time. ❤

What an amazing interview. For those who have watched Nick outside of the notorious 1% of the typical negative coverage he's gotten, it's obvious he's an incredibly genuine, humble, and generous human being. If I could pick any player to sit down and have a pint (or 3) with, it would hands down be Nick.

Great interview. Always a fan of Kyrgios, so seeing this side of him is no surprise. Shame we don't get to hear more about all the great things he does for others outside the tennis world.

One of, if not theee, best interviews you've done. This one had it all. Very nice break from the jerry springer war debates (which are good as well).

If you want to see what kind of character Kyrios is, pay attention to his doubles victory with Kokkinakis at the Aust Open. When not playing just for himself, he gives 1000%. This was the most telling moment of what his real character was like.

this is 100% true. The same happened in Laver Cup. I've never seen him so hungry for success and at the same time filled with positive energy. He probably would have been much better suited in a team sport. TEnnis can wreck you up, even at amateur levels, let alone flying around the world alone in the pro tour.

You mean kudos to the manchild who makes a fortune from a sport he dislikes, plays the bare minimum number of matches he has to, has no issue withdrawing from tournaments the day and gets pissed at a pub the night before a Wimbledon match. Thank you Piers for showing the "whole" side of Nick. As a fellow Australian, I often find myself defending Nick against a world that is very much set against him. He has always been a rough cut diamond, so much ability perhaps so little patience. @@kingdlicious Yeah sure. That's one way of looking at it. IT just seems like a paradox to put this man side by side with EQ. If anything he is overly emotional. It s not a slight on Nick. That is why he is loved because he wears his heart on his sleeve. Problem comes when he doesn't get his way on the court. An Emotional Intelligent person is almost stoic or impervious to criticism or set backs. Mind you EQ is the embodiment of discipline and self control. We all strive towards it bro. No one has it locked down... So no judgement here.

As an Australian I am so proud of Nick. He isnt a pushover but transparent and accepting of his accountability when he acts in a way he shouldn't but fair play to him. Mad respect to Nick for his take and Piers for being a fair interviewer.

So unexpected yet so appreciated! I'm not a hardcore tennis fan, but I def do enjoy watching a match or two every now and then. I was like one of the many who was fed only the negative parts of his story. I have a new found respect and understanding for this brother....and a further respect for Piers.
