You don’t get to be editor of a national newspaper without having something about you. How many proper intellects do you actually see on TV? I’m no fan of PM but he’s obviously playing a character on the TV and radio shows. I find them unwatchable as he’s constantly interrupting. However, there’s no reason he can’t hold his own in a political debate if he wants to.

Israel buys weapons and equipment from the UK. We aren't spending our own money to supply them. Ukraine also buys weapons and ammo from us on loan, but the ones given through donation are done so because like it or not, we're in a proxy war with Russia. We spend billions on our military every year and our primary counterpart, the country on which we prepare to fight and base all our tactics, strategy and designs to counter since 1945, has been the USSR (and now Russia). Think how much money we spent since then, and right now Ukraine is doing the dirty work for us, without any loss of life to the British military, and you're complaining about the comparatively fractional cost to us to help them do so? I just can't understand your view point at all.

I think many of us realise that there's a need for some financial pain. We've done that with the Tories and it didn't work. Let's give Labour a go at the pain and see if we get better.

I agree with Mick Lynch that Labour will get in largely as a protest vote to get the Tories out. What mystifies me is that Labour must know this, and so why do they sell themselves as "Red Tories", if they are going to win anyway? Surely this is a logical error. Otherwise they have reasons to be "Red Tory" independent of trying to oust the Tories.

The Tories went from massive victory in 2019, to massive loss now because they lied in 2019. Starmer's Labour risks the same outcome. The electorate is now less tribal and more volition than ever in history and will flip if they are let down.

Yes, the NHS was founded during rationing of just about everything, regular evening power cuts plus unscheduled ones, with massive debts to pay and not long after what is still the harshest and coldest winter in living memory. 1978-79 and 1962-63 were bad winters, but 1946-47 was worse.

This is a conversation from the past. We are broke. We're in decline and we need to accept and adapt. First step is to take profit out of essential services such as housing, energy, water, etc. Re-nationalise essentials, create jobs, create jobs and build a circular economy. Bring back food and manufacturing, live a simpler life and let the elites do their thing in the financial sector. We did it after WW2 and we can do it again. The past is finished. We need a new plan.

Borrowing is the long term game.....its actually the right thing to do. But sadly its the wrong time to borrow.....we could have borrowed at really good rates back in 2010 when those idiots Osborne and Cameron were in charge and did the opposite. I would vote for anyone but Tory or Labour. We need to change our politics and change the way we are represented. Neither of these parties actually represent us properly, they are just tribal clans with no real vision, and no real representation. I will vote for any other party other then them.

Dalia, the NHS was not built from the ashes of the World War. My country, Iran, had to be destroyed for this. Read about the British coup in Iran in 1953, after Iran won its case against British Petroleum at the Hague court and nationalised the oil industry. Interestingly enough, the architect of the coup was Clement Attlee, even though it was executed by Churchill. Perhaps Starmer is also plotting a coup in a poor country like mine to fund his pledges!

The Israeli journalist Haim Levinson did not want to lie to his people, so he declared to them that he was certain of the end of the State of Israel soon, and he set the year 2029 for the State of Israel to collapse, the few Jews to leave it, and the Arabs to rule it, and its name would return to Palestine.

"We can't increase public services without increasing taxes". Please have a modern money theorist (Stephanie Kelton, Bill Mitchell etc.) on to show you why this line of thinking belongs back in the Thatcher era. You have a sovereign currency, the only thing that should stop your spending is the capacity of your economy, not taxes. Taxes are important to reduce inequality however, but they don't necessarily need to be increased for the working class.
