Of course, many Ronaldo and United fans will say he was right all along, but to make a change you have to start somewhere, they were going nowhere with Ronaldo in the team, and it was the best decision for both. Don't try to hype Ronaldo too much.

Ronaldo qualified them singlehandedly to the next round of CL after a long time, his goals saved them continuously. The only reason United came 3rd last season was that Liverpool and Chelsea had a shocking season, not because they were any better. Ronaldo scored 24 goals the season before, including goals vs Spurs, Arsenal, Newcastle and West Ham, as well as 6 Champions league goals, so unsure what Simon is on about.

It wasn't refreshing because we as fans already knew the owners were terrible. Ronaldo is a player and his job is to do what the manager says, it's that simple. What he did was like a child having a temper tantrum when his dad disciplines him. It was an embarrassment and the world saw it all

Ronaldo only scored against lesser teams?? And so what? Now we can barely beat the lesser team.. scrapping wins with last minute goals and struggling to get any goals at all no matter the opposition… The thing here is apparently ronaldo was the problem, then he left.. but the problems remained . Otherwise, to leave, he would have to put in a transfer request. A player who requests to leave forfeits and loyalty payments due and any contractual severance. As it was, Ronaldo committed gross misconduct and was fired, but for the best of both parties, a mutual termination was agreed. So he got a reduced severance pay when he left.

People keep harping on about how Ronaldo exposed the truth. Stop it - Ronaldo didn't tell us anything we didn't already know about Utd. Utd should've never brought CR7 back and had he done his due diligence, he should've never come back either. People also ignore that the reason Ronaldo was even on the move was because Juve had made it clear he'd no longer be the focal point and be assured of the game time he thought he deserved. Also, the whole 'i was about to join City' claim has been debunked. There was no demand for Ronaldo at any of the clubs he thought he belonged at because he was an over the hill star who wasn't willing to accept his new status and came with so much baggage and drama. There's a reason he ended up in Saudi when in that Piers interview he was still dreaming of CL football. Utd had issues b4 CR7 came back and still do - it doesn't change that his return was just one more poor decision in a long line of them by Utd. EtH made the right move regardless of whether he ever succeeds in turning Utd around or not.

Ronaldo caused his own problems by calling out the manager in public and doing that stupid interview with Piers Morgan. I don't agree with a lot of the decisions that Ten Hag has made (on Sancho etc etc), but he was right to ostracize Ronaldo after this. As great as Ronaldo is as a player, his blatant narcissism means that everything has to be about Cristiano which I think is something Ten Hag took exception to. He's not a team player; even a lot of his teammates were getting fed up with Ronaldo making everything about him.
