Funnnn! I’ll definitely do this next spring(our magnolias already bloomed for the year). Doing little things like this is what makes life special and connects you with your home, your land, your community, etc. It may feel a little “niche” because it is a small project with a sort of obscure ingredient but damn if this isn’t exactly the kind of stuff that people ought to be exploring 🖤

Brad out here starting his own Pear orchard.😂 And pickled magnolia sounds great! I'm sure Brad did it before, but my Dad used to have my brother and me go out right before the dandelions around us would open up and cut out a good handful of them. Slightly bitter, but good on a salad with a light vinaigrette.

Hell yeah, make more food from trees. My grandparents used to talk about making chocolate from American Linden, an I look forward to eastern redbud blossoms every year. I would be interested in trying to pickle cucumber magnolia (magnolia acuminata) blossoms beacuse they get so huge. New England has such great tree resources for food that we just do not take advantage of anymore.
