It’s the last working workshop style London mews. All the others are offices, retail and residential now. Has a great atmosphere of people busy ‘doing’!

My first car was a Morgan. I was living in CA, USA. It was a 1964 +4. I paid $2,000 for it. I loved that car with its leather belts over the hood, British Racing Green, spoke wheels, as well as that it could be hand cranked given its not always reliable electric starter. One of my favorite things about it was the owner's handbook which stated "Periodically tighten all bolts..."! I eventually sold it due to no matter what I did it would always over heat. Still miss it though.

For scrutineering at LM 1962, "TOK258" had borrowed silver wire wheels to clear the 120mm ground clearance suitcase...are you going to adopt BRG wheels as used in the 1962 LM race?

A cracking day

The very first time I saw a Morgan in person was in 1959 or 60, I was with my brother and a friend and we saw a Morgan dealer with the car in the window. The price on it was about $5,000 oh, and I thought that was super expensive. Most cars at that time were around 2,000 plus dollars. I've owned a total of 43 brand new cars my life, ranging from a 19 64 Opel Cadet station wagon with 46 horsepower, my drive-up price was $1,800. My most expensive car was a brand new Mercedes E420, I think the year was 1996 or 7?, then a Mitsubishi VR4 oh, that one was in the mid-40s thousands of dollars. Today is March 12th 2022. Never did by the Morgan, mainly for the reason I lived in New York at the time in Brooklyn, and the weather is not conducive for an open, convertible. It was one dream I never filled. They are beautiful cars and understand they are all handmade to this day.

@@julian_theviews5011 The green is beautiful but the cream colour top doesn't look right. I would change the colour to match the car either black or green. But it's your car. I see your interior is black. So you can make the body colour any colour you want.

Sarah and the team at Brands Hatch Morgan are fantastic. I didn’t purchase through them due to a slight twist of fate opposed to much else. Going through the factory has some benefits for me as I like to record bits. The Plus Four has gone back to Morgan and I’m now in a Plus Six. It’s quite a different drive. A full review will be posted soon. Hope you enjoyed the factory visit.

I really wish they would make the bonnets to lay flat on the tape in front of the screen.

Ah - a Meopham Morgan owner! I’m in Rochester and should be getting a Plus 4 later in the year. I’ll wave if I see you!

Lovely sentimental Morgan, will be wonderful on nice days with the roof down. Music is annoying and having a number on a roundel on a road car was only done by cowboys back in my day. Not cool then or now. I seem to recall that RAC competitions license holders couldn’t do it under the rules then.

Manual of course. I tried an auto, which is only any good when you’re using it in flappy paddle mode….. so keep it hands on in my view.

That's the first Morgan I've seen with a hard top which is a brilliant idea. Until they automate the soft top I won't be buying one!

The hard top on the plus range is great. Although I did get a soft top for it too. Easy up and down, yet I’m not that bothered with open top driving, hence the hard top 👍🏻

Right after I got out of the Army in 1969, I bought a ‘67 (I think it was) Morgan 4/4 with a hardtop for $2,500. The original owner was president of the Morgan Club in Los Angeles and he said the hardtop was one of only 3 in the US. Great car, but I had to sell it when I was in college as I didn’t have the money to maintain it and I didn’t want it to fall apart.

@@julian_theviews5011 LOL, I almost talked myself into it about 10 years ago. Even visited Morgan West in Santa Monica, CA. My current hotrod is a ‘64 Beetle that I had converted to electric drive with approx. 4 times stock torque and 3 times stock HP. It’s a rocket!

@@julian_theviews5011 Yeah, we like electric. My first EV was a BMW i3. Great little car, nimble, quick, but just not enough range. Plus, the generic chargers are hard to find (that’s changing now) and poorly maintained (many don’t work). We’ve got 2 Teslas, X & S. Yesterday I got a Model 3 loaner while the service center did maintenance on my X’s driver’s door. It’s the first time that I have driven a 3, what a great car! Handled like a sports car. The user interfaces were very different from the S & X though. The service writer had to give me a brief training before I could drive it and it still took me 15+ minutes to figure out how to adjust the mirrors and things. Electric cars are very low maintenance since there is no oil, gas or spark plugs. Brakes will probably last the life of the car due to the regenerative braking. The main drawback is charging times on trips although there is a lot of work being done to improve battery technology and reduce charging times. At home charging is no big deal as you charge at night so you are always good to go in the morning with charged batteries. Good luck with Mark 2. A friend of mine used to own XK’s Unlimited in San Luis Obispo where he did service, restoration and even construction from scratch of Jags. He built from new an SS that he took to Pebble Beach and even an owner of a real SS didn’t know it wasn’t an original. He was also on Jay Leno’s Garage a bunch of times.

I now have a plus six. Doesn’t have the same theatre as the V8, yet it handles better, and is considerably faster (obs). The plus four is great, yet missing that spark (and sound apparently)

I checked with Morgan about running in a new engine at the time of collection, apparently it’s no longer a thing (although it is on Triumph motorcycles). When the engine is warm it is not going to do a huge amount of harm. Although I get what you’re saying, and it’s not a habit. Yup, a hard top. This is a limited edition LM62, and has a hard top like the 1962 LeMans winning Morgan (2ltr class). I’m about to take delivery of a Plus Six, it will have a hard top too. Having said that, I believe they are about to stop making the hard tops due to a lack of take up. Being carbon fibre it’s an expensive addition.

I really tried to watch but had to fast forward through nearly the whole video due to the truly awful music which for some reason is much louder than when you speak so the volume had to go up and down. Shame as your car looks lovely.

Have you driven one since the aluminium chassis and the parts bin being mainly from BMW? I agree they still have some way to go, yet I’d give a new one a drive as you may be surprised……try and ignore the door handles that look like chrome versions from my metro.

I think these comments are a great balance. Everything is subjective and Ivan has his own experiences and opinions which is all good with me…… and if I don’t like it I’ll just block the comment 😆👍🏻

Two kids traveling to a store in London to get an older kid a toy…… Amateur and immature video ….. Love the looks of Morgan cars…. Never experienced driving one. The engine (on multiple videos) does not impress me with sounds of coughing, burping and farting …. Must be a design feature of plus 4 …. Always dreamed to own one - maybe will someday…..

Of course it’s amateur, filming an adventure with my youngest isn’t my profession. I’m unsure how you’re applying the definition of immature, yet you’re probably right there too. Hopefully I’ll be filming more toy buying in the future. The exhaust note is better than anything I’ve managed to catch in the recordings. It’s completely different with the S button pressed. Get yourself down to a Morgan dealership and have a test drive and let me know what you think 👍🏻
