    That is pretty cool you showing appreciation to those you tube creators who both influenced you and helped keep you sane during the closure of the Philippines. My odds of ever going to the Philippines are slim to none and slim just left. I am happily married to a Georgia girl and living in Idaho. The first video of yours i watched was when you interviewed the Pea and she ju jitsued you and started interviewing you. I enjoyed it so much I subscribed to ya. The closest i have ever been to that neck of the woods was 2 weeks in china for some job training and that was over a decade ago. I will keep living vicariously and learning through you and Old Dog and Pea. Be blessed and have a Happy New Year.

    Thank you Harvey. Congratulations with your new bride and all the success. My next video that I will make and it probably won’t come out for a month it’s about creating a lasting relationship with a Filipina. And this can apply with your new spouse. My first marriage I was going through counseling trying to save my marriage at the time and some of tips on keeping a relationship together with a Filipina will also apply to your marriage in the USA. Once again RAZEL and I thank you for your support. You have a great day.

    Thank you Dutch…this video came about when I saw one of Tim K’s videos…mind you I haven’t seen his recent videos in a while and I just happened to run across one of his new videos and he mentioned he was having problems with another Vlogger…that’s when I thought he needs to know how thankful I am and probably many other viewers. I’m not big on contacting people so I made this video…and while making this video I ran into Philly and he tells me he’s moving, and I started thinking who had a big influence on me during the Pandemic…although many VLOGGERS had influenced me during the pandemic but these four names popped up in my mind the most…

    Great video and story. I hope to retire there someday and also love to fish, so I have to ask. Do you have plans to live on the coast, where you can fish every day? Also, have you learned which islands/areas are the best to retire where the fishing is good? And yeah, I've heard about cobras and always get nervous when I see locals just walking through tall grass/weeds in the provinces.

    I spent the first two years looking for places to fish. Recreational fishing is virtually non existent, very disappointing. I guess I’ve been spoiled by south Florida fishing. Now I really understand the value of catch and release. Here they use a 2 to 3 hundred ft net and troll from the water’s edge or 100yrds from the edge and eat everything they catch.at nite they have spear fisher under killing what’s left. And then you have guys like me who uses a fishing pole wondering where are all the fish 🥹 I think the only way for us Americans to fish is to hire a charter captain. That’s non existent here. Since I live in Valencia/ Dumaguete area. I’ve given up looking.

    @@SAMLAMB Thanks for the info. That's sad to hear. I did hear about a few charter boats in the Subic Bay area. Asked and it was about $200 USD per trip. Must be for outsiders like us because that's quite pricey.

    One of my early videos I had mentioned how I was almost gouged by a Filipino company, in fact someone outside had warned me not to go in there and let my Filipina go in and ask about the pricing. The problem was my gf knew nothing about renting a boat or fishing. That was the first time I came across Filipino price vs foreigner pricing. And that was over 16yrs ago…and it was in Subic. That practice still goes on everyday in tourist areas…

  • @cornell6342

    @cornell6342

    @@SAMLAMB The gouging is sad. I won't be able to avoid that either. My ideal place was to be on the water where I can step out and hop in my small boat or kayak to do some fishing. And I was thinking of rowing to force myself to keep fit. But based on all those net fishermen, like you said, there probably isn't much out within rowing range. I guess I'll have to keep researching. I hope you find a way to get back to fishing out there someday.

    @cornell6342 yeah, I will cuz it really is one of my passion, even more than vlogging … I was just frustrated the first 3 years of not finding a good place or situation, to fish…if I find it I’ll vlog it…for me fishing is a sport, using the right tackle, technique, bait, learning the habits of a certain fish, tides and currents…and landing that fish and returning it back to its surroundings…I did find a spot in Cebu , no 2 to 300ft net cuz the water drops off 10,000 ft 25yrds from shore…problem is everyday you have 20, or 30 boatman spear fishing the same area..you are trying to fish…its even too dangerous to snorkel there…we did see a lot of fish, there…and we also saw couple of sea snakes too….too dangerous to for me to snorkel there lol

    I am the new generation of Philippine vlogger and I want to set the record straight. I did my undergrad at the University of Indiana. I wanted to do further education at Notre Dame but I couldn’t afford it. They wanted $60,000 US per year. So I talked to the Navy recruiting office and they agreed to pay my university costs at Notre Dame if I gave the Navy 4 years. So at the U.S. Navy’s expense, I completed my Masters and PHD at Notre Dame. I then entered the Navy and completed 4 years service. In the Navy, I worked in the area of hospital health care administration. I was 30 when I left the Navy and walked straight into a hospital CEO job in Chicago. From there I spent 25 years working as a hospital CEO and President in places like India, Hong Kong, Bangkok (2 different stints over 6 years), Manila (2 years) and Phnom Penh. I finished up my career in Dubai and retired from there in September 2022 (my Filipino girlfriend Sheila is still there as she works as a police officer there and has done so for 6 years). My next hospital posting after Chicago was in 2008 to a hospital in Cambodia. I was offered Jersey City and Cambodia. When I arrived in Cambodia in 2008, there was only 4 paved roads. Somehow in the late 1990’s, I also first visited Cambodia. At that time there were only 2 paved roads. I spent one year there then. Also, somehow despite being in Cambodia, I still managed in the 6 years up to 2010 to work as hospital CEO and President at a hospital in Bangkok (before transferring to Hua Hin). I earned $500,000 US for this and my apartment was 1,200 square feet and only cost $300 which my employer paid for. I get confused about this but the hospital had between 16,000 and 100,000 employees. Between 2008 and 2010, there was political unrest between the redshirts and the yellowshirts. Supporters of the military blocked access to the hospital and demanded money from people trying to enter the hospital. I arranged that over $1,000,000 was paid to allow people to enter the hospital. Then a reporter from the Bangkok Post came to see me. I expressed my frustrations to them. Then the next day, I was featured in a front page article in the Bangkok Post. As a result of this I was arrested and taken to jail. I had never had so much as a parking ticket before this. I was initially put into a cell with about 40 others. I still don’t mind pooping in a bucket because of this experience. I was then put in a cell with a notorious Russian arms dealer, Viktor Bout (even though I know him personally, I pronounce his name as ‘bowt’ when everyone else, including him, pronounces it ‘boot’). Vicktor is known as the Merchant of Death. I spent 21 or 22 days total in the Thai prison and in that time I went from weighing 240 pounds to 182 pounds. I wouldn’t have minded the diet of rice and cucumber soup but I hate cucumbers. The US Government then arranged my release and a one-day visa for Cambodia. After travelling from Survarnabhumi to Phnom Penh, I returned to the US where the first thing I did was eat some Taco Bell. The Thai government blacklisted me from visiting Thailand but this was lifted after several years and I have returned several times since. After my Taco Bell, I didn’t stay long in the US as I had a hospital CEO placement at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Hong Kong. I was in Hong Kong from 2010 to 2012. I had a car there but could only drive it to work on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays due to the vehicle having red registration plates. I had to catch public transport the other days. Parking fees were more per month than my condo cost me when I lived in Dumaguete. I get a bit confused but when I lived in Hong Kong, I either had a 250 square foot, 1 bedroom apartment which cost $4,000 US per month or a 376 square foot, 1 bedroom apartment which cost $3,000 per month. During the 2012 to 2022 year period, I worked in the other places I have earlier mentioned. I also visited mainland China on and off for 6 years. In 2021, I spent 9 months in Cambodia, 2 in Phnom Penh and 7 in Siem Reap. I bought a Honda CRV when I was there which I had to get the windows tinted to the darkest tint as I kept getting targeted in a made up offence scam by the corrupt Cambodian Police. My fluent Khmer was of no use when trying to get out of paying the police fines. I only lost a few hundred bucks when I sold that Honda. I still have a car stashed away in Dumaguete which I will have to deal with upon my return to the Philippines. That will be after the college football season. I think the Crimson Tide are back and a sure thing.

    Yesterday when I was providing you all with my consolidated study/work/life history, someone with the username Talk About the Passion commented and asked me to provide more information about my studies and naval career. I apologise but the comment seemed to have disappeared from KZread. That seems to happen on my KZread channel sometimes. There really is not much to tell you. I did my Masters and PHD at the University of Notre Dame which was paid for by the U.S.Navy. This was done on the proviso that I serve at least four years with the Navy. Well that is what I did. I served in the area of healthcare administration. After my four years, I left the Navy honourably. I could have re-enlisted. The Navy definitely wanted me to. But because of the good name I was getting in the healthcare industry, I was able to transition straight into the private sector. I went straight into a hospital CEO role in Chicago which set me on my highly successful career in the private health care sector which wound up in September 2022 in Dubai when I retired. I was 30 when I got my hospital CEO job in Chicago. When I left the Navy I had reached the rank of Lieutenant. I really do not mind if you refer to me as Lieutenant Paul D Cardwell (Ret.). I also hope you all note that my beloved Fighting Irish gave Oregon State a thrashing in the Sun Bowl. The score was 40 to 8. If I had not been so busy at Notre Dame doing my Masters and PHD, I would have tried out for the football team.
