that would be very awesome indeed! but also very hard to make accurate, because most movies tend to remove many historical/factual details in exchange for entertainment purposes you can look at apocalypto as an example of what movies i am trying to describe, DONT GET ME WRONG! apocalypto is PHENOMENAL! (and i highly recommend the movie) however quite a number of critics have pointed out its innacurracies, but still a good movie regardless imo another example is jurrasic park. the og's are still a good movie to watch but turns out T-rexes have feathers and the velociraptors are much smaller than what is depicted in the movie (oh and they also have feathers)

Since some of the people who watched, listened and requested the translation of this haunting masterpiece, as a native Antiqueno, I am proud to translate this chorale masterpiece of our very own Antiqueno composer Benny Castillon. I looked for the lyrics of this piece but to no avail. I used my listening skills in this video in order to obtain the exact lyrics, the way we pronounced it our native dialect. This masterpiece is the story of 10 Bornean datus exiled by their ruthless ruler Sultan Makatunaw in far away Borneo. As much as I want to use the rhyme to translate it in English but I can’t afford it anymore. Here it goes: Kruhaay, kruhaay Aaahhh, aaahhh Dum dum... * Buhay ron nga mga dinag-un (It was for so long years), sa isara kabay-bayun (in this one solitary shore), sa lawud may naga panong (in this shore there’s a flock), baruto kang mga dumuro-ong (ship/boat [probably balangays- are boat where the word barangay came from] of some visitors). Aaah.... *Nagdung-ka ang taga Bornay (the Borneans moored), nagsinadya ang mga Ati (and the native Atis were ecstatic), anda nga gin haladan (they offered some gifts of welcome), kang bahul nga kasadyahan (of big revelry). Dum dum dum aaaahhhh....tak tak tak Kruhaay kruhaay (effects here) *Ginbaylo kang mga ati ang anda nga puruy-an (The Atis bartered their homeland). Ang Panay sa sangka saduk kag kulintas nga bulawan (with larged-brimmed hat [salakot] and feet long necklace[manangyad] made of gold), kag sanda nagsararaka sa mga kabukidan (after that, the Atis went to the backwoods/boondocks) kag ang mga dumulu-ong sa kapatagan sanda nagpuyo (and let the Borneans live in the flatlands)! Kruhaay kruhaay (effects here) ~End~

You know why you have goosebumps? Because kruhay is used by the babaylans here in Panay to call the nature spirits.

I just learned tonight that this was composed by a good friend, Benny Castillon, from the University of San Agustin Conservatory of Music... It was so nice to see him again after 32 years during the University Velada...

I saw this song interpreted by a choir from Singapore in Germany. That choir from Singapore won 1st prize! This has become a very popular piece indeed. Proud to be Antiqueño! Karay-a gid takun!

Kruhay is also used to invoke the Tamawos (spirits of nature).haha

Murilo Cruz in a way I agree nonetheless the current batch is also amazing. However let me opine that the batch prior to this is more tremendous 😁 - the ones who won the grand prix in 2007.

Hearing a song praising our heritage really hits different. This isn't just a normal folk song, it's an epic of the journey of our ancestors. Portraying the heritage of not only Antique, but the whole Western Visayas, the remnants of the great Kedetuan of Madia-as of the islands of Aninipay, Himal-os and Buglas. Kruhay!

What makes this masterpiece different from the other choir pieces is that this have those tribe-feels. It gives you not just the goosebumps but also something peculiar. Yung mga random noise na ginagawa sa mga Filipino rituals ng mga tribo. From the beginning to the end, it feels so Filipino. Sorry po kung may nakakaooffend dito sa kinomment ko. Opinion ko lang po ito.

Nope po yung changing notes po yung masterpiece dito compare sa ibang musics yung kruhay masyado komplekado ang changing tone and notes nila . Parang fries na sinawsaw sa ice cream na hindi naman talaga nakasanayan pero nandun yung dating at masarap sa feeling na pwede pala at maganda yung kinalabasan . 👍

Yes. The layers of chanting which is an invocation to the spirits and the deities will give you goosebumps. Believe me, the first time I heard this performed by our school choir during a Korean Culture Day celebration (in the presence of Koreans) drove me to tears.

Totoo, it’s not just colonial spanish music that became the standard songs of the philippines during the colonial era

I don't know but everytime I hear ethnic songs as tremendously beautiful as this piece, my tears slips secrectly from my eyes. This piece enchants me so much and I can't help my tears from falling. 😞

Ang galing ng composer and Philippine Madigal singers really done a great job to bring this master piece into life.

Wow! i realized that Kruhay isn't that easy to make and do. I am also amazed to the composer of this song. i hope this kind of songs continue even though there are a lot of modern songs out already.

The story behind Kruhay should be made into a Disney movie with a fitting princess, then this masterpiece it's theme song.

Its been 3 years since I discovered this piece. Still always come back to watch it again and again to be amazed and bless my ears!

Iba rin talaga ang impact pag kinanta ng MADZ at ibang Pinoy choirs. I think some choirs make the mistake of singing this song in a manner that is too refined or less impactful. This has to be haunting and heart pounding but with the appropriate restraint as well. A difficult piece to really master.

I can still remember the first time I heard this song. It was for an intermission number by one of the amazing choir groups we have in Bicol (BAAO Youth Choir). The singing was just so amazing, although I can't understand the dialect used I didn't realize my tears were already flowing. Since I was standing next to our choir mentor that time, she saw me crying, I just told them I was just being emotional but what our mentor said will forever stay in my head... if you are appreciative of music no matter what dialect or language the song you are listening or singing to you will feel it. This song is just a masterpiece and I am glad I get to sing it before I leave SPA.

@@sugbakilawtuwa This is not about being purist, it's about protecting a culture that isn't their own. It's appropriation however you spin it. Do the people they take those "creative ideas" from consent to having their culture used for something else entirely different? Creative freedom at the expense of a people's belief is utterly disrespectful and insulting. Now if you really want to be "truthful" then research about the culture and understand that you can't freely "borrow" from one culture and mix it with another. The song itself is about an epic of a people, now how would that translate to Urduja which is also another great epic in itself? NONE OF THE TWO WOULD BENEFIT, except the corporations who will most probably benefit from our pride as filipinos hungry for global attention, the service it will be doing is for the pockets of Disney execs.
