The West Side is a big reason to why I believe Hello, I Must Be Going! is his best album. Just a masterpiece all the way through, Stuermer's guitar licks, Myrick's soothing saxophone, and Phil himself with his punchy drums. Despite being a big pop sensation in the 80s, Phil remained in touch with his drummer self and incorperated things he learned with his time in Genesis and Brand X. No wonder why he chose this song to be played with his big band in the mid/late 90s.

Great Donald Myrick on sax! One of his best performances!! He was Sadly killed by LAPD in 1993.

@@beverlykrebs4372 Myrick was killed in Los Angeles, California by a Santa Monica police officer during a narcotics investigation. While attempting to serve a search warrant, police officer Gary Barbaro mistook a butane lighter in Myrick's hand for a weapon. He fired a single bullet that hit Myrick in the chest. Myrick died in the hospital shortly afterward, aged 53.

The late Don Myrick on Sax, so very good, and all of Phil’s band at their best during the 80’s. 😊
As the orchestrated sound pronounces discourse, there are two drummers. One drummer adheres to maintain the "rhythm" while the other drummer (Phil Collins) provides "meter" variations. Together the two drummers are creating a sophisticated "rhythmic meter" that well punctuates the harmonic and dissonant flaring of the Saxaphone blending with the arrangements of the other shifting instruments.

Although this is from 85, Back in 1987 when this had been broacast in Canada through ctv, i barely knew who he was, as a young 12 yo kid i discovered my new drum hero that would be a major influence as a musician for the rest of my life, it all started right there.
