I wish mainstream music was still like the 20th century to the 2000’s to the Early 2010’s to the year 2014 as well tell me about it cause mainstream music of 2015-2019 and 2020-2023-2024 is garbage your right on that
One of Phil's greatest songs ever! It's awesome!
This is my depression song, every time that cloud hangs over my head one listen to this and it’s better than any medicine I’ve ever taken. It holds close to my heart.

@@ashkarra2507 That’s your opinion. Nobody is comparing musicians, so I’m baffled at your comment.
I was having a conversation with my husband recently, about our life together and this song came to mind, especially the line, "we've had our problems, but I'm on your side". I'm so lucky. I married my best friend.
Its amazing how Phil Collins sounds even better decades later
I remember when I saw this music video on MTV a lot during my childhood (how I MISS those days!) that it was unreal. The way the dog had done its business onstage where Phil and his band were performing reminded me of something an online friend told me when I announced that the middle school I was doing the musical Annie back in 2012 (which me and a friend saw), and I told him if there was going to be a real dog playing the role of Sandy. He said that if a dog's going to perform onstage in a school play, they have to be WELL TRAINED. He also said "You don't want someone to break out in song, and the dog takes a shit onstage." Therefore, they had someone in a dog costume in the role of Sandy. Five years later in 2017, the middle school did The Wizard of Oz, and they had a live small dog (a terrier of some sort) in the role of Dorothy's dog Toto.
This song ALWAYS puts me in a great mood, but then again, Phil is a Musical genius.

This song takes me back to the time I had met the man who was to become my husband. I remember when it came on in the car, I would crank it up, really loud. While he loved music, I don't think he was crazy about my levels of volume in the car. But bless his heart, he never complained . And it seemed whenever we got in the car, there it was! And up went the volume. He passed away 11 years ago. It took a long time, but I now hear this song and a smile has replaced the tears. It feels good!

This one WAS XLNT, but "No Jacket Required" and "Dance Into The Light" remain my favorites. The problem with this one was that it sold so well that the follow-up "Both Sides" wound up feeling like a letdown, despite some great songs on it. That disappointment pretty much led to Phil re-inventing his sound a bit for "Dance", which was a fantastic album, albeit in 1997, with Grunge on life support and Slut-Pop on the rise, it was a tad underappreciated.

We had a life, we had a love But you don't know what you've got 'til you lose it Well that was then and this is now And I want you back How many times do I have to say I'm sorry, yes I'm sorry How can something so good go so bad How can something so right go so wrong I don't know, I don't have all the answers But I want you back How many times can I say I'm sorry You know, you can run, and you can hide But I'm now leaving 'less you come with me We've had our problems but I'm on your side You're all I need, please believe in me, oh yeah I only wanted someone to love But something happened on the way to heaven It got a hold of me and wouldn't let go And I want you back How many times do I have to say I'm sorry, yes, I'm sorry You know, you can run, and you can hide But I'm not leaving less you come with me We've had our problems but I'm on your side You're all I need, please believe me You know, you can run, and you can hide But I'm not leaving till it's all over We've had our problems but I'm on your side You're all I need, let me show you They say you can't take it with you when you go And I believe it But taking what I've got or being here with you You know I, I'd rather leave it We had a life, we had a love But you don't know what you've got 'til you lose it Well that was then and this is now And I want you back How many times do I have to say I'm sorry, yes I'm sorry You know you can run, and you can hide But I'm not leaving less you come with me We've had our problems but I'm on your side You're all I need, please believe in me You can run, and you can hide But I'm not leaving until it's all over We've had our problems but I'm on your side You're all I need, please believe in me

2 week holiday to France with my folks, grandad and brothers 1994. Genesis and Phil constantly played throughout. My Dad complaining about Phil's 'monotone voice' (how very dare he) at the beginning of the holiday, then went to the whole family singing along to every track by the end. Thanks for the memories Mr Collins!
One of Phil's best songs, something about 80s music, it is just so much better compared to today's music.

Is there a better overall bassist than Leland Sklar? I think not. Man is solid from the get go and just lays down a great groove.

Merci Phil Collins.

This song makes me cry, it has nothing to do with the dog (I cry whenever I dream about dogs because I love dogs), but this song about trying to ask for forgiveness with a long lost true love and that's what I'm trying to do.

That crazy dog....sweet, too. Peeing on the Bassist's leg, pooping where that one dude accidentally steeped in it, being all up in the food, dreaming dreams .... It really was a dog's life for him, wasn't it? Easily one of the funniest, and best, videos that anybody has ever done, or that MTV ever showed! Rest In Peace, little doggie!
So there is no doubt that this is an extraordinary character and a huge talent. I love listening to music in its performance I always listen to the best music ❤️❤️❤️❤️💖💖💖😘👋👋👋👋👋🇵🇱
My dreams WERE alive in the 80s ❤ ✝
I love this song❤, Phil Collins is a musical legend
Phil will always be Phil.Unparalleled. Rondonópolis/MT/BR.
He always works very hard and goes the extra mile. A wonderful song, but with a video having its own cute storyline and showcasing members of his band!
Prime Time Phil does it time and time again...When you are perfectionist...this is what you get...A flawless performance...What's not to like about this guy...The arrangement is so good in this song
I love that harmonic change in the bridge to the chorus, from B-flat major to F minor to C minor on "How many times can I say I'm sorry". That is so cool! It constantly goes between A-flat and B-flat majors for most of the song and finally resolves to E-flat (the fourth, not even the fifth!) in the chorus, and that is pretty awesome! The harmony in 80s music is way more complex than people give it credit for. These are not meme songs people. Unlike today's music, you can tell it was written by someone who actually cared about making the best music - striking the balance between accessibility for everyone, complexity in musicianship and virtuosity (in singing).
I really like the sound of this snare.
Phil Collins is just amazing such an iconic voice put out hit after hit he had a nice quirky personality too

The way they change to black & white when showing you the dog's point of view is brilliant. What a nice song. The horns, vocals, a full sound. You can understand the lyrics. Nothing vile, obscene, or disgusting, so unlike "rap." I ♥ the dog, and it's sad to know that dog's lives are so short.
