Hope he keeps his feet firmly on the ground .. 1st time I've listened to him comes cross as really nice lad.

Nic Collins is very much his own drummer, he talks about the mechanics of it in a way that reveals he knows what he's doing but there's a complete lack of cockiness. Phil Collins should be damn proud of his son 👍😎

What a nice young man. Polite, well spoken, no big attitude, well done to his mum and dad.

You can really tell Phill's legacy wasn't forced onto him. He really does have his own creative drive. He already seems like a master of the craft to top it off.

He's got daddy's blood for music.. And the same kindness and intelligence.

Im so glad one of his kids is carrying Phil's legacy. Its good to know in a way this era and generation might have their own version of a Phil Collins.😄🙂👍 Gives me hope for future of music.

He seems like a smart, respectful, educated young man. Mr & Mrs Collins should be rightly proud of him.

Very well spoken for 18. Comes across as a pro already.

He can be proud of his father. Phil performed in both Live Aid concerts ( 1985 ). And he was drummer and vocalist of 70's group Genesis. Phil Collins. Legend. Genius. Forever.

I feel for Phil going through so much with his ex and now health issues. I love Phil collins music. But just knowing he has his son who is so respectful of his father and taking over the drums, I think this fulfils Phils heart. So nice to see this.

All his kids are down to earth. Then again Phil was a down to earth guy.

AussieTV - ‘down to earth guy’ kind of read that everywhere these days ... doesn’t seem to mean that much if people make that claim as soon as they heard a guy in one interview. Listened to an interview to Jerry Lewis the other day and there were a lot of ‘down to earth guy’ comments... turns out he wasn’t ... I think we should just leave putting people on a pedestal if we don’t know them a bit more intimate. Just keepin’ it a bit more real! 😅

Because his dad is British. To be honest, I was pretty surprised too. He must have grown up in the US rather then the UK.

Todays kids in many european countries are being teached american english. Like in sweden, in ireland, and in switzerland. Phil was living there, and i guess Nic might also have been in the school there at lake Geneva.

He seems like such a sweet kid and so polite and well spoken. My own father passed away about 10 years ago and it still hits me hard to this day. Nic is one lucky kid being as talented as he is and getting to spend the time he does with his dad. They are both amazingly talented percussionists and they not only favor each other but also play in similar styles as well.

I’ve gotta say man, it seems that Phil and his wife raised a wonderful kid. Most eighteen-year olds are insufferably blasé and arrogant :)... and he’s just so... down-to-earth, articulate, and self-aware. Really impressed with him in this interview. Kind and confident young man. Good on him and his family.

karona actually during Phil’s marriage with Nic’s mother he lived in Switzerland.

Tim091 091 Phil Collins was state educated, he didn’t go to any top private school, whereas Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford and Peter Gabriel went to a top private school called charterhouse. Phil was a grammar school educated kid who then went to stage school before joining Genesis.

I've been fortunate enough to have met Nic and chatted with him for a while before their Glasgow show back in Dec. 2018 (?), and I can honestly say that he is an extremely kind, modest, sincerely interested (and interesting) young man...and he's got a bright future in front of him.

This young man has talent. He had a great teacher and mentor. Been a fan for my entire life and it's exciting to see his son follow in his amazing footsteps.

Nick Collins works really hard and definitely inherited Pop's talent.

Damn. He looks so young but is such a good interview. Sometimes, famous musicians kids just live off their parents fame, but Nicholas is so chill and cool. Awesome video, keep it up.

Phil is proud of all his kids; and rightly so. He’s a great dad, first and foremost.

It's Phil with hair (i should talk). He looks soooo much like his Father back in the day. Lilly looks so much like him too just a feminine version. Great to see him carrying the torch for his legendary dad. I grew up with Genesis and still put on a vinyl from time to time. Phil has a sound that is very distinct and original. One of the greatest drummers to ever grace a stage...MUCH respect!

James Kirk Wrong. Orianne’s mother was Thai. Her father was Swiss. So Nicholas is 0% Cambodian and only 1/4 Thai. Also, if you say he looks nothing like his dad, you must have never seen pictures of Phil when he was that age.

Lily is a spitting image of her mother. Simon closely resembles Phil, as does Nicholas, even though Nicholas is a lot taller and has more of his mother’s complexion. Matthew has Phil’s complexion but more his mother’s face.

You need to check out Simon Collins, Nic's older brother and Phil's son from his first marriage. Now Simon looks like Phil.

It's interesting how Banks and Rutherford said the feel of having Nick playing drums in rehearsals was fresh snd reminded them of the old days with Phil on drums. In this intervening year, they should have made a new album with him.

@@RastaSaiyaman There's also John Mayhew- the drummer on the album Trespass, and Chris Stewart- fired from the band before their first album was released yet his drumming was still featured on The Silent Sun and the non-album singles at that time.

Wow what an example of an awesome well spoken anf mannered teenager !! Phil & Mom ! Nicholas is YOUR BEST GRAMMY AWARD !!! SO, FEEL VERY VERY PROUD !!!

Very grounded, and very nice. It does seem odd for an 18 year old saying “back in the day”, but he’s wise beyond his years, and has a bright future.

I saw Nicholas play with his dad in San Francisco last month and he was phenominal !!!! It was so sweet as I felt bad that Phil had limited mobility and could no longer play the traditional drums...but both transitioning; Phil doing bongo style with the band and Nicholas taking over the drums just as talented as his dad but putting his own spin. I have great memories of Genesis/ Phil Collins concerts in the 1980's and this latest tour did not disappoint.

Really dedicated young guy ! I wish him a great career like his dad !

Was listening to Genesis just now. Phil was one of the greatest. Inventive and astoundingly good.

Nice to see his personality. Nicholas is very nice and grounded young man. Comes from good parents and a very talented drummer. Saw him with his dad's band in Minneapolis, October 2018. Outstanding show.

What a great guy. His dad should be very proud of the him. He’s an intelligent and gifted person. You can tell that Nic is his own person/musician and not living on his dad’s success. I wish this young man great success in the future 🙂

Got to meet Nick and his father when they were flying out of the fbo Atlantic aviation Pittsburgh where I work in 2019....met his father years ago during the lamb your which I was able to attend the show.....very interesting and nice people. And if I might add very talented. got to talk to them about ten minutes....very cool .

I saw Nic playing with Genesis a few weeks ago. For a 20 year old to be playing at the level he is, he’s got a fantastic career in front of him. Great player. Humble too.

It's wonderful to hear and see Nicholas. I saw the Not dead yet tour and he sounded fantastic. It's a very talented and passionated young guy. First time I saw him play, he was about 4 years old. I saw him in a documentary of the Final Farewell tour in 2004 playing a small drumset. Phil's older son Simon is a hell of a drummer too. It would be really great if both enjoyed Genesis in there next tour. Listen to The Big Bang, a drumduet between Phil and his son Simon.

When you actually play drums with a dad who's a drum legend, it must be daunting. Nic is really talented and he handles it well.

Check out his brother, Simon Collins', band. Sound of Contact. Simon's singing sounds so much like Phil.

Nick is one of the best drummers in the world, plus he's on a Genesis album (Calling All Stations). It's great that he's doing this gig and talking to Nic like this!
