    Works out at about $34k for Queenslanders who still have their state-based EV incentives

    Certainly sucks for the people who paid $60k for one... though I'm guessing that's not many people. And yes I'd rather have that than some Chinese thing but it'll take more to lure me into an EV. Cracking deal if you wanted one tho.

    BYD are starting to make the other manufacturers think and become slightly more honest. Ev's are still not for me. Not practical in a rural environment with no chargers. But if they are to gain a bigger market share, the price has to be at a realistic level. By EV standards $40 000 for the Pug is great value. And from someone that doesn't normally like Pugs. That is quite a nice presented car. At that rate do they now do a $10 000 petrol version. I'd buy one. This still begs the question. How can you discount a car $20 000. What did they do before. Think of a number and double it. Ironic that just as a few Ev models are coming out at a sensible price. Charging companies are pulling out of the business. Tesla is losing money fast. Laying off staff. And not maintaining it's chargers. Lithium shares have dropped. Many areas have banned EVs from entry and parking. That new super battery is just 2 years away, for another 20 years. All just in time for hydrogen cars. Much better prospect on paper. A lot of set up required in practice. What we really need is a manufactured cleaner fuel alternative to power what we have. Pour it in your 1967 fast back mustang and only have the smell of roses coming out the back. Way better than a battery.

    Uau such a bargain. It won't do 328kms for sure. More like 250kms.... buy for this amazing priceand being the sleek GT, its amazing. And yes agree, if someone is looking for a small city car, this is ideal. I would go for it if i was looking to buy a small car. A new hatch like my Golf 7 these days costs 40.000 aud!!!

    Out of the plethora of monotonous sub-compact SUV's on the market i think Peugeot nails the styling. Would definitely consider one.

    Heads should roll at Peugeot Australia over this debacle. They have really botched up the marketing and sales of the first Australian EV.

    So a question If someone was to order one next week or so at the lower price & it gets delivered early July, does that mean buyer must than be forced to pay the $60,000 & not the offered $40,000?

    @@drivingenthusiastaustralia not sure but its smaller cousin the e-208 is the highest selling EV in its segment. Peugeot sales are up 42% YOY in the UK overall. The e-208 is due to arrive in Australia very soon. I expect it to bomb in a market that does not understand where these cars fit in and because Peugeot/Inchcape have not got a clue how to sell these cars. I would not be surprised if Peugeot management made a visit to Australia and put a broom through the joint. They are seriously underperforming. Either that or they are not interested in our market and they should just get the hell out and stop wasting everyone's time.

    Official range of 328km for a 100% battery discharge?? If you stick to 20-80% discharging limits to maintain a good battery health, then your realistic range is 195km (=328*60%) FFS, even $40k for any EV with such abysmal realistic 195km range car is TOO MUCH money I live on the Central Coast of NSW. I couldn't go to South Sydney and back with this expensive $40k piece of shit

    lots of ignorance on display here. First this car is primarily for city use. Second, a return trip from Sydney to Gosford in an e-2208 is easily managed without the need for a re-charge. If you're regularly doing long trips then do not buy this car and do not get angry about it. The eMini is loved by its owners and it has a theoretical range of just over 200km. Volvo EX-30 costs $67,500 - longer range but you do not get a dashboard. Everyone's needs and value judgements are different.

    @@salamander416 WTF you are going on about? A) Gosford is at the lower end of the Central Coast which goes all the way to Morisset. Sutherland to Morisset is about 150km each fucken way. LOL, try doing this in this pissy EV on one full charge with 4 adults in the car and air con and head light on ...... B) Calling this expensive pissy EV a city car is an environmental bullshit. If you drive it 20km each way to work 5 days a week, it would never ever reach carbon neutrality before requiring battery replacement. C) No one is stopping you from wasting your money on such expensive crap, as no cares as to how much you love such crap........ Enough said............

  • @drivingenthusiastaustralia

    @drivingenthusiastaustralia

    Ай бұрын

    Out of touch? I've been reporting the car industry for 15 years mate. I'm saying the resale value is not going to plummet as much if the thing starts from $40k, as opposed to $60k. For example, in 10 years the used price might drop to $15k? That's a drop of 75% when the starting price was $60,000. Now, with the new price, the drop isn't so big.

    @@jimmyp1433 I'm not sure if I can explain it any simpler. Basically, with a reduced starting price you're not going to lose as much over time, because now you're paying less to begin with. Not only are you paying less now ($40k instead of $60k), you won't lose as much when it comes time to sell in relation to how much you spent in the first place.
