I saw the new 2024 Kia Sorento today. It was an army green colour and dog ugly!
Very well equipped, & it is a good looker. Be nice if a vehicle of this size had the Kia Stinger GT engine & its power/torque outputs as an option. In around 7 to 12 years from now when all these screens start failing, some of these vehicles will be either hard to operate, or impossible depending on how much functionality is only available thru the screens.
I'd be embarrassed to travel alone own one. Gross.
It’s interesting the Palisade keeps the old 2.2 and 8AT instead of the new 2.2 and 8DCT. They mustn’t have thought it was worth the investment sticking the new engine and ‘box in it - I’m guessing Palisade RHD diesel is a very small market.
Yeah I think you're right, being RHD would be a low priority. But the Palisade is actually pretty old now too, although facelifted. It was late to arrive in Australia so that's probably why they haven't bothered updated the engine. The next-gen model is expected to adopt hybrid tech.
Sounds like youre sick 🤒
Unfortunately yes. The voiceover probably sounds all wrong 🙃
It can competes with bmw x3, Volvo xc60, Audi q5 & Lexus nx
One of the nicer egg crates for sure but heaven help you if you have enough kids to full it 😅
I rate the Palisade, would be at the top of my list if I needed a vehicle like that.
MG love
You absolutely roasted this car Brett. The poor thing. 🥲
Because, for the price, it's not very good.
@@drivingenthusiastaustraliaagree. Chinese manufacturers are getting arrogant thinking they can charge prices as such for subpar shit boxes.

Wheel under the back carriage? In Africa you’ll be robbed, killed before you can get the spare out to replace al9ngside the road. Maybe that’s the point. SMH
It’s literally industry standard for that class of vehicle, you have clearance why not use it? Also by your logic you’d be killed changing the wheel anyway, so what’s an extra minute getting the wheel unlatched going to do?
Where would u like them to put it… inside the engine bay?
this is a horrible analogy 😭😭 but i understand it being slightly inconvenient
I'm from Kenya, we're fine, you sound South African 😅
Do not generalize because Africa is a huge continent. There are many peaceful places in Africa.
C'mon, the touchscreen and user interface is one of the best things about this car. Takes all of a couple of days to get used to, max.
Better buy a bottom spec Toyota RAV4 ,Mazda cx5,Hyundai Tucson or Kia sportage than this unrefined vehicle
Look this cars competition are cars like the X4 and the Urus which is if we are being real is the money you have to pay for a coupe style suv. no one looking at this is going to look at sedate cars like the Tuscon or Sportage. ive seen quite a few of these on the road and have even asked some owners why they chose it,some say the looks, some like the look at me factor, some say the exhaust sound, alot say the price.
Sorry are you saying people would cross shop this with an X4 or a Urus???
@@mahcooharper9577 if persons were objectively looking at obtaining a coupe styled Suv then yes. But in reality searches for coupe suvs arent filled with rational thoughts. Im not saying persons who are willing to stump up for a x4,x6 or even a urus and going to realize or care they are paying and extra mortgage or five to get one of those over the H6 and choose it over them.
i thought it was strange that your other channel suddenly stopped making videos. good to see you in front of the camera now and not behind it. took me a while though to stumble across where you went haha
Yeah sorry about that. The new owners of PD wouldn’t let me do a farewell video. Thanks for finding!
@@drivingenthusiastaustralia thats no good, just assumed it was your channel? and that you threw the towel in. theres been nothing posted for like a year there :/
@@mrz1281 Yeah, I started it with Josh Bennis in 2011. We sold it a few years back to try and get some help to build it. But that didn't happen - quite the opposite. I resigned in 2023 and took over this channel. I don't know what the owners are doing with PD now. I was the last to upload a video on there.
i should mention this because not a lot of people know but in race mode it actually has 5 kw and 5 Nm more you can find information about that online
Awful car, considering how some of the other Haval cars are, this is a let-down. You're paying a lot extra for a stupid badge, a useless boot, and performance that doesn't come close to meeting expectations. The gearbox looks awful and would probably be better swapped for an 8-speed torque converter unit. Ten to fifteen years ago, this would have been a great car. It's just not on par with the competition. I think I would rather have an MG HS +EV than this turd.
have you driven one yet mate
dude,no one goes into a car like this looking for a huge boot
@@mindfreeze0838 So it's about as useful as a BMW X6.
@@connarwise8839 I test drove the Hybrid, and it was way better than this.
@@hartoz yup, which one would think that people who buy cars like these are well aware of its practical limitations.
If you think of it. why it won't give you the full power. Battery
Hyundai has gone with an extremely ugly slanting downwards back end..... Looks so wrong
Sounds like a bad case of sour grapes and brand snobbery from some people.A Chinese made MG that can humiliate most expensive European sports cars really gets under some people's skin. Welcome to the modern era ladies and gentlemen. Suck it up tough boys when grandma in her little MG blows the doors off your modified Commodores and falcons.
My pick in the Haval lineup , H6 Hybrid..!,
Yes, a way better car.
I just bought a new 2024 CX30 GTS model with all the extras. I previously had CX5 and more recently CX3. I have been happy with performance both models and only changing now as wanted larger boot and screen.
Whenever it turns up it's not dull as others in the same segment
The combined claimed fuel economy doesn't seem to good, compared to a G35 Mazda CX-5 which claims 0.2 L/100km better and yet has a bigger engine with more performance with a transmission that has less gears AND is heavier
In 3rd gear you are pretty much ice only.
Mate, haven't you get a chance to try the BYD seal?
Not yet mate. I'll try again this week.
The rear design is busier than the Shibuya Crossing
This is funny as I read this whilst just passing Shibuya crossing 😂
Does this have a torque converter 6 speed Brett? Bit over dry clutch gearboxes from Hyundai/Kia. They are jerky and dont last. Thanks.
Kind of. This uses a conventional 6-speed automatic. But the electric motor is mounted between the gearbox and engine (basically where the torque converter would be). It doesn't feature a torque converter though. Instead, there's something Kia calls an "engine clutch" which brings in and cuts off ICE power. The electric motor helps during initial take off with the 'hybrid starter generator' (basically a very powerful starter motor). Hope that helps.
@@drivingenthusiastaustralia cheers mate. That sounds good. So therefore no DCT clutch packs to crap themselves and I imagine no DSG low speed jerking behaviour exhibited when you drove the car? If so Kia have a real winner here. 7 year warranty and better specs than the also now aging RAV4. And I'd take the better acceleration over the fuel penalty versus the RAV4 personally.
Yes that's right, no DCT. Very smooth take-off. And yeah, I tend to agree. This isn't as economical as the RAV4 but you get more power and it's quicker. It's a shame it misses out on AWD though (probably not a big deal for most).
@@drivingenthusiastaustraliaamazing! Think I've found my next car to replace my Cerato GT for my wife and I. if anyone is brave enough to destroy their warranty and tuners could be bothered this vehicle could also be the world's first SUV tuner eco sleeper. The 1.6 turbo engine by itself is good for 180kw after a tune so 220kw combined power would be possible. It would really need AWD then!
It's the Temu Urus lol
I’ve got a mint WH Caprice with the original dish wheels and I love it so much, will never sell
it basically costs the same as the H6 hybrid which is a 5-7k premium over the regular H6, you get the same drivetrain, just with a different look, and an exhaust sound.
*Cough cough* Lamborghini Urus *Cough cough*
Ive seen a few on the road. Each to there own eh
They used to say "you get what you pay for" but that's not even true anymore. And I give you credit for driving that around mate, it's a deeply embarrassing car. And no, there won't be many getting around with 250000k on them - I'd bet the house on that.
Couldn't have said it better. I feel sorry for anyone who owns one
Coupe suvs arent considered as long haul reliable cars, theyre fashion statements that get pushed out once they are off trend to be replaced by the next trendy thing.
@@mindfreeze0838 ok cool I'll tell that to my 35 year old Mazda MX-5.
@@mahcooharper9577 no one was talking about your Miata though...
You said "sports SUVs aren't meant to last". Well why would an SUV with an ugly body on it not last where an actual sports car does?
Hyundai Tucson or Kia Sportage no not anymore there developing a dog and lemon reputation too many horror stories of there eng experiencing catastrophe failure .I believe this H6 eng won't suffer the same fate
Fair enough. I doubt this gearbox would last. Very jolty and, in general, unpleasant tuning.
Why on earth would you imagine this thing would outlast a Hyundai or Kia? They did have engine problems a few years ago but not with current ones.
@@drivingenthusiastaustralia being a wet dual-clutch is some saving grace.

Is there a shortcut to desactivate the assistance on this car?
I believe they are having problems with the transmission failing. Since the change to CVT there have been issues. I have the older model with 2.2 turbo diesel, which has been so good performance, economy and reliability wise, shame its gone.
This uses a 6spd auto.
The engine on an X6M requires a full rebuilt as it burns 1L of oil every 700km
This is an X4 M 👍
Terrible braking with 42m...
So You have regen at low and like to cruise/keep going yet complain about 5.9l/100k...
Yes. A Toyota Camry hybrid, which is heavier and has no regen options, can achieve low 5s and even dip into 4s. Under the same conditions. That’s why I think this is high.
