Peter's Denial (Luke

Despite his insistence that he would follow Jesus even to death, Peter denied his Master when the pressure mounted against him. Continuing his expositional series in the gospel of Luke, today R.C. Sproul considers Peter’s sin and the source of restoration for God’s people when they fall.
This sermon was preached by R.C. Sproul at Saint Andrew's Chapel in Sanford, Fla. Hear more from his series in the gospel of Luke: • The Gospel of Luke: Se...

What a beautiful person Jesus is! The God of all the universe condescending to serve us - what other God does such a thing? It's extraordinary!

I too picked up on the fact that Peter wasn’t really in peril if he acknowledged being associated with Jesus - it was just just unfashionable (then as now) & he was afraid of being mocked. His other character weaknesses are forgetfulness & talking even when he doesn’t know what he’s talking about (Mark 9:5-6).

Somebody once asked, when they start arresting Christians in America if some one denounces you as one, will the judge be able to find enough evidence to conflict you or will he find the charges unfounded and let you go?

Unless you're prepared to bow the knee to the One who is Eternal God among us and worship Him as such, your engaged in idolatry.

The only difference between Peter and Judas is God's grace?

@@HearGodsWord No, everything else comes from Gods grace or lack of it. Christ said he would pray for Peter. He didnt say he would pray for Judas. He said Judas was a devil and would go to his own place (Hell).. So you are mistaken.

I guess it's open for debate but I believe Jesus was saying Satan wanted to sift ALL the Apostles as wheat, not just Peter. Luke 22:31-32 New International Version 31 “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat. 32 But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.

I could be wrong but the way the Hebrew translates it says that Jesus says, satan demanded to have all of you… not have you all. And then why would he go on to say that he prayed/begged that you (peter) will not fail… It sounds like this was specifically talking to peter in the way the Sproul explained in and almost other versions of the Bible also read that way… why didn’t jesus say he prayed for all of them, instead he specifically said he prayed for peter… which I’m sure he prayed for all the apostles but for the sake of just this text he had prayed for peter
