I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. Today is May 15, 2023. Today is the transferred date (May 14) of The Festival of St. Matthias, Apostle. Since 1996, the ELCA has made May 14 as the Day of St. Matthias, which for years was celebrated on February 24. Some denominations may still celebrate it on this day. And on this day, let us pray for people facing difficult decisions and also for world hunger ministries.

NEVER EVER GIVE UP ON OUR LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST,………. WHY?,……….. BECAUSE HE NEVER GAVE UP ON US,………. AMEN

But he is still missed dearly, and I am happy to have stumbled into reformed theology to hear his deep teachings and fervently hope to attend the school he founded.. rbc. The English translations miss the point of that post crucifixion conversation. Jesus and Peter in the Greek are not using the same words. Jesus asks do you love me unconditionally and Peter answers that he loved him like a brother. That happened twice but the third time Jesus reduced himself to Peter's level and asked if he loved him like a brother. That is why Peter was annoyed. Peter was probably trying to be humble but his annoyances proves he wasn't really.

Sorry, you never name a church after a man... The church is Christ's, and HIS alone... Whatever happened to Matthias?

"The Twelve Apostles: Called by Christ" Wow! Thank you kind Sir; for your title...(Sorry for the VERY long "comment". But I believe it NEEDS to be said) For any "Born Again", wise person, could write a "thesis"; about the 12 Disciples Jesus chose. For i say they were NO different than the "12 Sons" of Jacob; whose name was changed to "Israel"; except for Joseph and Benjamin, and maybe Judah. For the other 9 were probably THE most mean, "Abominable Sinners"; to have ever walked on this earth. Not to mention; that MOST of the Disciples were just like those above. For Judas betrayed Jesus; Peter denied Him 3 times no less; and Thomas AND Phillip both "doubted" Jesus. And did Jesus cut their legs to the ground; for saying idiotic silly things. Yet there is little known about most of the rest. Like...what ever happened to "Bartholomew" for example? Etc. However, I would say that John was like Joseph. And maybe Mathew and Mark. But Mathew made some horrible errors in his writings. Like Matthew 1:1 The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. And Jesus said that was not true. IE... John 8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. (And) Matthew 22:41-45. Wow! Talk about 2 Timothy 3:16! Huh? Where Paul made a major mistake. Sad, but true. Yet another horrible error: Deuteronomy 24:1 vs Mathew 19:3-8. And I could go on and on... So Jesus had to wait for a man; named Saul (whose name was changed to Paul) to become: THE greatest "messenger" of Jesus' Gospel EVER. He proved that because 13 letters of the NT was his espousal's. No other writer came close to that many. May Jesus rest his precious soul... ...In any case kind Sir and Brethren, Please Pray OFTEN and Praise Jesus OFTEN; for He is the ONLY true "God Almighty"; there will ever have been. And may Jesus bless you and yours always. AMEN!

There is no error in scripture, only in translation... Apparently, you are not rightly (dividing) the Word... There are no contradictions...

Amen We cannot receive the teachings of Jesus And talk about what Paul said we will not receive All the Word of God is useful for doctrine and correct in the Faith
