Peter Gabriel - Full Moon January 2023 - Panopticom

Музыка

Peter Gabriel's Full Moon update for January 2023, where he discusses the launch of Panopticom, the first track to be taken from the forthcoming album i/o.
Listen to the full track Panopticom (Bright Side Mix) here: lnk.to/PG21
Deep Dive into the tracks from i/o on Bandcamp: petergabriel.bandcamp.com/sub...
‘The first song is based on an idea I have been working on to initiate the creation of an infinitely expandable accessible data globe: The Panopticom,’ says Gabriel. ‘We are beginning to connect a like-minded group of people who might be able to bring this to life, to allow the world to see itself better and understand more of what’s really going on.’
Written and produced by Peter Gabriel, Panopticom was recorded at Real World Studios in Wiltshire and The Beehive in London. The track is accompanied by a cover image by the artist David Spriggs.

Peter is such an articulate and thoughtful artist, ever since early Genesis days distinct from many major artists/ Pop stars who simply want to sell commercial product. It's that's deeper integrity that makes the music he creates of so much value!

As a 14 year old I was thrilled to see you standing there singing Watcher of the Skies at Bournemouth Winter Gardens in October 1973, and in September 1977 at Southampton Gaumont I led the audience to the front of the stage to wake them up. You reached down and shook my hand at the end of the concert. Special memories, Peter!

Since I moved back to Syria almost 12 years now, music became more than a pleasure, more than a need, it became a necessity, a vital component for the survival of sanity and for keeping the light of hope flowing. Every time I listen to your creations I reconnect with myself and with the earth. You have always been a generous soul, with your heartfelt poetry, your global music aesthetic, your collaborations, your kindness and humility. Thank you from the heart.

I was lucky enough and I do mean LUCKY enough! to see Peter when he was the opening act[I know!] for David Bowie's Moonlight tour in Vancouver. We knew then we were in for a musical treat and experience. Peter! His voice...unbelievable. I kid you not. He had the ENTIRE stadium in a kind of musical trance, he was charismatic to say the least. He is a master musician and such a gifted artist....we would have gladly followed him, the whole crowd....wherever he wanted to lead us! Oh yes we would! We were musically hypnotized...that is the best way I can put it. Amazing. We crave art that touches us somehow and music with meaning in this world. Peter's music is that mashup of art, beauty and meaning. Ok. Welcome back Peter!!!!

I’ve been at all your live shows since the early 70’s and will be there when you come back to America again. So happy you’re doing another studio album and can’t wait for the next Full Moon!

What a joy and thrill it is to see, Peter Gabriel, one of my favorite musicians of all time still putting out meaningful songs, with important environmental, and social concerns being brought to our attention. Back in the summer of 1985, one of my best friends introduced me to Peter Gabriel for the first time with what would be my favorite album ever, Security. He had it on audio cassette and we used to play it in the car every night after he got off work, and we would just drive around our hometown for hours listening to music as we talked about life and our future. Those were some of the best times of my life and my first real concert was the So tour where I got to see Peter Gabriel live. To this day Security is still my #1 favorite album and the songs within move me like no other. The Rhythm of the Heat and San Jacinto especially call out to me, and are quite near and dear to my heart. They stir up Native American memories from some past life as "I hold the line". As someone who suffers from Mental/emotional illness the song Wallflower, breaks my heart and serves as a warning.

🙏🏽OMG! I LOVE YOU, PETER GABRIEL! FOR BEING AMONGST THE FIRST WITH HIGH PUBLIC INFLUENCE TO OPEN THIS DISCUSSION!!! You have NO IDEA how excited I am to witness this kind of video from someone like you! I still don’t have the biggest picture within frame, as YT’s algorithms recommended this as the first video to watch, and I realize the entity who owns the platform, is part of the concept you are speaking of here. THANK YOU for opening this MOST important discussion up. I’m so grateful for illumination of the public and their understanding of the reality of the existence we’ve been living in. As having lived the majority of my life not being listened to for what I saw and was aware of, you have no idea the solace I find in this. Please god, let the discussion keep opening.

When you talked about the Full Moon Club, I first thought about an international practice in the 1980s where people all over the globe would set their alarms and meditate at the moment of the full moon -- the same instant all over the planet. This isn't that, but you've given me a great memory, and this feels like a brother to that energy. Thank you.

On an emotional and instinctual level, the new track ignites you - to move, to lean into it, to welcome that voice back at last. There’s never a Gabriel creation without a fascinating journey. Inverting "panopticon" into the equalizing and educating world of "Panopticom" is a path as worthwhile as the music. I could not be happier to begin this year with the sounds and ideas of Peter Gabriel.

A world class artist who never fails to be original , he paints a world through his music that is so full of creative ideas, its like CS Lewis in audio form, I get sick and tired of artist like Adele singing about another break up song, same with most artists today they just won't push the boat out a little further, its like listening to Phil Collings 80's albums they are cold and clinical and safe. Peter will take you on a journey, look forward to the album.

As someone else in this thread commented, I too had tears in my eyes as I listened to this just before dawn today! So looking forward to hearing the other tracks and getting out to see Peter and the band on tour...did the single, most impulsive (spontaneous) thing I have ever done in my life and bought tickets to see Peter and the band in Copenhagen in late May! Twas not really in the budget, but when I learned European tour dates had been released, I simply could not keep myself from doing so! Decided I only have so many years left on this planet and will thereafter be dead for a very long time, so I said, "fuck-it" and jumped! So excited, on so, so many levels...

I would have said that this is a natural development of the idea he started with the album Ovo which was inspired by the earth and sky, and indeed working with the earth to preserve it's integrity. To me this is a movement which he has perpetuated still further. Thumbs-up to you Peter for highlighting the way of the Native American culture and bringing the preservation of the the state of the earth to the forefront.

Peter, there is no way I can afford to go to UK. Please come down to France in Lyon or Dijon. Thanks for having inspired me for years. Can't say I love you, as a lot of people would say so. I'd rather thank you to have been a sort of master for me for ages. Having met you through music made my life and lead me to breed my kids. Merci

I’m thrilled that Peter’s releasing a new album! I also did some math on his albums with new, original material: • Peter Gabriel 1: 1977 • Peter Gabriel 2: 1978 • Peter Gabriel 3: 1980 • Peter Gabriel 4: 1982 • So: 1986 • Us: 1992 • Up: 2002 • i/o: 2023 Based on the exponential amount of time between albums, Peter’s next album should be released in 2067. 😁

That would be truly something, A release from a time capsule. Last albums also had only two letters as title. My suggestion for the 2067 album: EQ.

I sold my first company in 1987. In 1989, frustrated and burned out from overwork, I was driving into my office and Solsbury Hill came on the radio. I listened deep to the lyrics, and made a pact with God: if this song comes on 3 times in one day, I'll take the same action Peter took to leave Genesis (save for the press release he did at the time). The song repeated twice more that same day, even sliding to another radio station immediately upj completion of one lower on the dial. I left shortly after. Was even sued by my employer. And it was all worth it. Thank you, Peter, for continuing to be a guiding light.

Peter will never know, but he actually (unknowingly, of course) gave me a very good English accent from when I was about 15/17, living in my old city of Venice and knowing by heart most of Genesis songs. Then there was the day I was listening to the Knebworth bootleg, when he was introducing Supper's ready and my mother went: " Is that you speaking?", but that's another story.

Hi! This is so cool! This reminds me of a download I got during the night. I have been stressing over what will happen to my 60+ journals I have kept since my awakening in 2001. I woke up with the idea to give one journal to different people in my circle. I'm not really going to do this, but it set me on a trajectory to open my mind to different possibilities and took away the stress of worrying that they will get thrown in the garbage when I'm gone. Thank you for this, and for your music. Solsbury Hill is one of my all time favorite songs and gave me a deeper understanding of my Spiritual Journey! 😊💙🙏
