It's easy to underestimate Peter his performance here. At this stage Semmy was already a 4 time K-1 champion and had been practically unbeatable for many years. Peter beats him being 40 years old and despite a 20cm and 20kg height/weight disadvantage. What a Warrior!

Two legends. There was great times in k1.

Peter Aerts always seemed to have Schilt's number, he was one of the rare few fighters who was able to close the gap to Schilt and keep fighting on the inside. Truly impressive if you ask me

I always thought schilt froze up fighting aerts somewhat. Maybe schilt gave him too much respect because aerts was someone he looked up to

@@ktothec24 I believe Schilt has amazing stamina (according to his size), however Schilt's stamina only allows him to fight in his own pace: He needs to rest and catch a breath between punches/kicks/knees. Aerts knew it so he didn't give Schilt a chance.

Schilt has beaten him before so I'm not sure how he had his number. Aerts is Legend none the less.

"He's got more hooks then a pirates convention!", "His uppercut nearly hit low flying airplanes", etc etc.

This was in 2010...40 years old Aerts fights like a Lion in those days. I wonder how is he doing today? One of the biggest Kickbox fighter we could enjoy watching. 👏👏👏

Peter Aerts is an extremely tough fighter. Despite the arcade, it was like a terminator!

I never been fan of Semmy's fighting style but I always liked him as an athlete. Peter Aerts on other hand is one of my favourites kickboxers I've ever watched, Lumberjack Pete I used to call him, learn my lowkicks from watching his fights!

Je hoeft geen fan van een vechter te zijn ,maar objectief gezien naar lichaams lengte en gewicht sam haalde alles uit zijn vermogen en dat lukte. Ongelooflijk voor een man van 212cm 150kg.dat dit gevecht geen verliezers heeft voor mij is het feit ze zijn even goed in wat ze doen(en op een sportieve manier) oes.

これめちゃくちゃ印象に残ってる。セームシュルトは地味だけどデカくてテクニックあって誰も手を付けられなかった。 シュルトが老いるか、若くてデカいファイターが新たに参戦するしかないかと思った中、ベテランもベテランのアーツがこの気迫で押し切ったからなぁ。アーツの男気あるところ大好きだわ。

Мало того что так ещё и дух и выносливость.Последние два раунда он его просто начал разбирать.А Семи Шилт выдохся, не было у него того уже напора.Был бы реванш с ним всё бы это закончилось быстрее.

this is the most iconic match, u cannot expect such a huge man to be in shape at this age his body is heavy and the bones are not the same... watch him when he was younger

Yea, this was the only time I ever saw Shilt get worked and really backed up; they honestly don't have fighters like that around anymore. No Semmy Shilts and definitely no Peter Aerts.

I have met a man who seemed to be around 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall - ONCE. Also, the Netherlands have never had any significant settlements from vikings. It's not a part of the Nordic countries.

I remember watching this Grand Prix and really wanting Overeem to win. I figured he would HAVE to face Schilt in the finals. So I was actively hoping that Overeem would win his fights easily and take no damage, and that Schilt would have wars on the way to the finals...so that in the final match Overeem would have the best chance possible to defeat Schilt. Little did I know that Aerts would give him SUCH a good fight that he would actually defeat him! So impressive!

Peter Aerts, Ernesto Hoost, Remy Bonjasky, Semmy Schilt and Rico Verhoeven are my favorite kickboxers! Why? Because they became champions in their own right!

It's 20 cm and roughly 20 kilo but yeah. Semmy is a big, big man. I saw him stepping of his motorbike once. That's one impressive sight with those big boots, all dressed up in leather with padding and that helmet on.. :)
