In the DSM-IV-TR it used to be called Gender Identity Disorder, but they changed it to gender dysphoria in the DSM-V-TR. As a result it was no longer classified as a mental illness. I'll add, the LGBT mob wants it removed altogether.

Intersex people are NOT mentally ill. They were BORN that way. They have s3xual organs that do NOT match male OR female s3xual organs. They are effectively neither gender at BIRTH.

Yeah intersex would as example be someone with x and y chromosomes but y cromosome doesn't work so the grow up as a girl and find out later when they don't get any menstruation that they have actually x and y chromosomes and are infertile. That's a medical condition and not and identity or mental health condition. Though it's possible there are people who claim to be intersex when they don't even have a clear intersex condition.

I suffer from severe chronic insomnia, which is a mental illness. (Since physical causes were ruled out) I don't think mental illness should be something to look down upon. 20% of young Americans suffer from some sort of mental illness ranging from ADHD, trough depression to schizophrenia.

Ummm do your research 🙄🙄 Peru is in AMERICAN land. ALL the western countries ARE AMERICA.

I think all surgeries done to healthy tissue on young people under 25, whether it be a nose job, breast reduction/enlargement, top or bottom surgery, they should have strict rules on getting therapy for a certain amount of time to deal with any underlying issues and to give the person time to really think about their decision going forward and what it might mean to them. You need to gatekeep this stuff. Its not like joining a karate class where you can try it out for awhile and quit after a few years and move on with your life. These are PERMANENT body and chemical changes. The medical industry has bought every single media corp here in America, and once you get a young person to become trans, you have a patient for LIFE, They will need hormones forever and checkups, surgeries and revisions and more surgeries. You put them on it when theyre young and you have a steady patient for the next 70 years.

I think they are. They are supposed to be required to go through a lot of therapy to determine if it's actually dysphoria or confusion. 2 or 3 years before they are allowed surgery in most sane areas.
