I know I know, It's been a while... But Perth Airport was too good not to cover! As a major strategic port for Australian aviation, the Aerodrome is rich with history. A history which is all covered in this first part of my deep dive into Perth Airport!! As always, please remember that I do not own the rights to most of the footage and imagery shown in this video. @@xthompsongunx Oh I understand! Can't wait for it though its my home city if you can't tell lol
Born and raised in Sydney, the company that I was working for in 2004 relocated me from Sydney to Perth in 2004. Initially I just didn't like Perth as everyone kept on saying to me that WA means "wait a while!" - meaning that WA has to wait for 24 hr petrol stations, weekend shopping hours, and a whole lot more. However, since 2004, as your video shows and fully explains, Perth is finally getting the recognition that it deserves. I think that Perth airport is the best looking in Australia now. We now do have 24/7 petrol stations, weekend shopping hours, a great freeway system without any toll ways, the best-looking football stadium in Australia [OPTUS STADIUM], Elizabeth Key, and a host of other improvements to the city of Perth that were not here in 2004. Thanks for researching, compiling and posting, great work! DM.
Welcome back! Glad you are producing more content again. Looking forward to part 2 and also hearing about what you’ve been up to! Also would love to eventually see a start to finish about Amsterdam Airport Schiphol at some stage in the future! 🙂🇦🇺🇳🇱✈️👍
Excellent Video... keep going with this kind of work....regards from Chile, South America
Fifty two years ago I arrived at Perth Airport (from Sydney). I was to start work at the old Flight Service Centre on the following Monday (July 1970). I worked above the old "original" terminal building (about 1500 metres off the Great Eastern Highway). This terminal was build in the early 1960's in readiness for the 1962 Commonwealth Games. The airport had three runways in those days including the 10700 ft (3260 metres) which the long haul B707's of Qantas and South African Airlines used for their 7 hr 25 min flights to Mauritius (Indian Ocean).
My local airport 😍

Well done mate. Making learning about airports fun.
Great Video mate, enjoyed learning more about my home city's airport. Can't wait for Part 2. I live not far from Perth Intl Airport and do a bit of planespotting. Just wondering, when you were talking about Airport Drive and the new interchange into T1 and T2, that photo I don't think is an accurate one to Perth's Airport Drive/Tonkin Hwy/Leach Hwy Interchange? Other than that great work!
Thanks for a great video, I was in Perth in 2012 and the airport was awful glad they have had a refurbishment.
These videos are great. I found them while searching for Auckland airport since I was scheduled for a flight to there. Do you think you could do Queenstown airport, I think it would be interesting due to its short runway and scary approach?. Thank you for the great content, keep doing what you’re doing.
Love ur videos especially about nz. Could u look into doing whenuapai airport in Auckland or Suwannaphum airport in Thailand
I love your videos
Cool Video
nice vid
I can get you scans of the master plan of 1999 if you wish. I'm in Perth. I'll pop into the state library tomorrow for you.
I’m hoping you continue with the Australian theme as you still have the best one, Brisbane to do haha!

You should have way more subscribers not going to lie
8:40 One of my top 5 best days ever right there.
I ❤️ PERTH
the train line was completed yesterday
cool
newcastle next please
We nick name the Perth airpot terminal the Death Star
Some inaccuracies here - the airfield shown at 2:11 is Laverton VIC while the one at 2:23 is Amberley in Queensland. Neither are Dunreath (pronounced Dunreeth btw).
I think that Perth Airport was the inspiration for the Underdune in the Mad Max game
I live in Perth
part 2???
Tampa International would be cool
I haven't seen u in a while
Perth is the hub for long distance travel. I heard Batik Air is using Perth as hub for travel between Kuala Lumpur & Auckland. Wishing for more to come.
just to be clear, Perth is not a 3.5 hour trip from the east coast, its 4 hours to Melbourne (which is technically not on the east coast) and 5 hours to Sydney and Brisbane. Good video but such a fundamental mistake
