Persona 4 Golden: Solo/Izanagi Only/No Skills (Very Hard)

Ойындар

Challenge Rules:
1. Solo - Except in Yukiko's Castle where teammates can't be removed the entire game must be done solo. When a team member is present they must guard and All out Attacks are disabled in those fights in the event I crit/item knockdown all enemies. An extension to this rule is all allies in Yukiko's castle must only have their base equipment so I can't give them better accessories to give them higher survival chances.
2. Izanagi Only - This is essentially a No Persona run so I am limited to only ever having Izanagi. Other personas may be in my slots but never used. I can pick them up in shuffle times for sweep bonuses but they must be removed. If I forget it's okay as long as I'm not gaining any benefit like gaining exp from growth to allow for skill cards from Chagall Cafe or actively using them.
3. No Skills - No Skills are ever allowed in battle or out of it, this means attacks, buffs, heals, ailments etc. None can be used. The exception to this is Passive Abilities are allowed. There is 1 instance where I allowed skills*
4. No Velvet Room - Allowing the use of the Velvet Room would mean I could re-fuse Izanagi allowing him to get more passives earlier. Instead I must rely on shuffle times for skill cards and magician cards to skill morph.
5. All Optional Bosses - All Secret Bosses that appear after a dungeon has been finished must be beaten and the Reaper as well. (The superboss is discounted since she is NG+ exclusive but there will be a video on her soon hopefully)
6. No Social Links - No Social Links can be started except for mandatory ones, the one exception to this is Marie to unlock her dungeon which also must be completed. This means No Rise so she doesn't buff or revive you and Hermit is stuck at rank 1.
7. True Golden Ending - I must get the best ending in the game and do the extra dungeons. I can't just fail to guess the culprit and end it there.
8. Very Hard Difficulty
*It is technically possible with godly luck to beat Shadow Yosuke on Very Hard never using a persona skill however this relies on too many dodges to be realistically done. Anyone can feel free to attempt this and prove me wrong but I never got close and due to lack of freedom this early you cant devise a strategy and are limited to 3 medicines only and thats if you get lucky in the tutorial fight so officially the challenge starts on entering Yukiko's Castle.
Aside from a few specific bits of the game this challenge was more tedious than hard. Bosses were often easier than random encounters. Particularly at the beginning I had to gather vanish balls and grind off specific encounters where I was safe for endurance cards. Being unable to save my game until Chie was saved I overgrinded too much out of fear of dying and losing so much progress. A huge part of the game involved swapping floors back and forth to grind for chest only items. Then whenever I got lucky enough for a shuffle time if I were to get a sweep bonus I'd immediately exit the dungeon and save by the tv and go back in then every fight I would do would give me a sweep bonus. Every few fights I would use a Goho-M to save and preserve my sweep bonuses. If I lost it I'd reload. This allowed me to get skill cards faster and in the later dungeons Magician cards to morph my passives to better versions.
You can obtain the 4 base element dodge cards in Yukiko's Castle which is very useful. By Kanji's dungeon you can get the physical dodge and regenerate. When you get access to magician cards these can all turn into evade variants and I ended up with regen 2 and 3 stacked. As soon as you hit Void Quest resist cards are obtainable so you can immediately start mutating those into Nulls which was my setup for basically the rest of the game. Other than endure cards there was nothing any better until Magatsu Inaba where you can finally obtain Absorb Skillcards.
Since I wasn't doing much in the real world most of my free time was dedicated to working in my room for money so I could buy new equipment and elemental items/heals. I did try to complete quests when possible but most of them didn't really help at all. The pinned comment will talk about the individual boss fights and do a brief overview of them but if you have any questions feel free to ask as always!

There wasn't enough room in the description so I'm pinning this comment to briefly explain each fight, the bosses move pools are very predictable and small so you can preplan and make them all a pushover Shadow Yukiko: This Boss wasn't too bad. I purchased a ton of Ice Items from the shop and used them to exploit her weakness, doing so would make her waste a turn putting back up white wall allowing me to reapply a diamond shield or heal or anything else needed. Her summon was the only scary part in that if I got feared I could die instantly being unable to act. Thankfully I got pretty lucky and he mostly tried to silence me so by slowly chipping him down he ran away allowing me to focus back on Shadow Yukiko and win fairly comfortably. Shadow Kanji: If you go in unprepared this boss is a nightmare but if you abuse Nice guys Ice weakness and Tough guys Fire weakness with items you can stop them acting that much, the endurance skill cards I got while grinding for items and money made this easy, just a slow slog because my damage output was so low. As long as I paid attention I was never really in any danger here and once both his minions were dealt with it was just a case of finishing him off. Shadow Rise: This fight could be bad since Izanagi is weak to wind however all she does is cycle through each element by doing both light and medium single and multi target hits. With dodge/evade skill cards I had acquired and morphed as long as I guarded her 4 wind turns she never had a chance. Having Regenerate means I can passively gain hp while doing damage which mainly helps for grinding random encounters but also for bosses. Shadow Teddie: The worst case scenario here was being crit chained but he silences you which gives me free turns as I'm not using my Persona anyway then I just apply diamond shields and attack/heal when needed while guarding before his big attack to prevent damage. Shadow Mitsuo: This fight was easily the worst in the entire game, it's not even a competition. I died a lot to him due to either running out of items or his fear ghastly wail combo killing me. Because of my extremely low dps he could reform back into his Hero part multiple times making this fight an hour long. Midfight I realised I could apply a physical and magic mirror before finishing off his hero form to allow a bit extra repel damage to the baby. Whenever stagnant air is active he will always fear you so to prevent an instant death I just guarded. This would mean I need to at least dodge his first evil touch since he gets 2 turns but with a resist fear accessory I had equipped I managed to clutch out the fight. Shadow Naoto: By Void Quest I was able to get Resist Cards and morph them into Nulls. Although Mitsuo had almighty and ailment kills Naoto doesnt so this fight was a joke. With the right setup I could just rush the entire fight and heal if he used Galgalim Eyes to reduce me to 1hp. Kunino-sagiri: You can see a pattern by this point where abusing morphs I could practically rush the entire fight. Regens keeping me topped up and the fact I null most attacks. The only threat is when he alters the balance to make Electric do more damage but as long as I'm conscious of that change the fight is free. Adachi: Easily my favourite fight in the game in general but a joke in this challenge run. I managed to obtain Book of the Void to Null most ailments, you can also find Absorb Skillcards here. I think Absorb takes priority over high counter so I left Physical as a Null. But this fight was just on rush mode which shows how easy this game is if you know the mechanics. Ameno-sagiri: This boss was tricky. The later on in the fight you get the more Nebulas Oculas he uses along with other moves that do high damage. The start was easy but by the end I had to heal more and pray for dodges as his AI seems to know what you Null in some capacity even though he will still occasionally target your Nulls. Then I just apply a mirror when possible to repel his Agneyastras/Attacks and slowly back and forth until I can whittle him down. Kusumi-No-Okami: My knowledge of the Hollow Forest was what originally gave me the idea to do this. Leaving my Elec affinity open and finding a Repel Elec armour I could use break items to make her hurt herself. I didn't realise that Hot Lightning was classed as almighty so that ruined my plan a little. This dungeon was a huge slog, most enemies are easy to fight and since I have almost no way to be hurt I could rush most encounters to grind items and then use chests. Going in with nothing was slightly worrying but there's only 1 or 2 encounters the entire dungeon I was actually at risk of dying it just took ages to get the items to go into the fight with enough to ensure I could break her elemental affinities since she Repels all and then use items to capitalise on it while she is neutral. I mixed that with breaking her elec affinity for a few extra repel hits on herself but she didnt seem to like doing that often. Izanami: My main worry for this fight was Worlds End and Summons to Yomi which can inflict you with an ailment and then instantly kill you, like a beefed up version of Mitsuo's Ghastly Wail combo but Book of the Void nulls most ailments and a Null Poison skill card I'd held onto for most of the game came in handy here preventing it from doing anything. As a backup I had both endures equipped for safety but never really needed them. Another threat was if she decided to spam debuffs on me and then keep attacking, theoretically there would be nothing I could do to survive hence why endures would allow me a safety net but her AI seems to never want to do that. A lot of the bosses I'd find out the damage values they can do and then would be able to calculate in my head if the next turn would kill me, if not then I was free to buff/attack or whatever was needed similar to my p3r challenge run. This run is not as hard as it looks, mostly scary at the beginning but it has a strange difficulty curve. It's more tedious than anything grabbing loot from chests, trying to get a sweep bonus in a fight then going back to save and then reload if you lose it to make sure all encounters give shuffle times and getting money. It was fun to strategize for bosses but this just proves how easy the game can be. Maybe someone would like to do it while also banning passives which would be cool to see! Thank you for all the recent support and while this likely isn't the most entertaining video I hope people who enjoy breaking games can appreciate the fights at least. Enjoy ♡

Thanks! Yeah I think is it! I did it with her s link last year but my build wasnt very optimal. Instead of needing both her block and revive you can just use endure and enduring soul instead. My theoretical build would be Primal Force Power Charge Absorb Phys Absorb Fire Absorb Ice Absorb Wind Endure Enduring Soul Yu’s ultimate weapon +100hp robes (forget the name) Divine Pillar Then you count her turns like my other video and on her 49th turn you take her under half hp. Instead of using Morningstar + Diarahan her turn 50 9999 overrides it. So she will do Morningstar + 9999 which your enduring soul will tank She’ll still be half hp and now you have 100 margaret turns to kill her. My build with rise was essentially the same but no endures I think I had Heat Riser and something else idk I do have an idea for Solo/Izanagi Only/No Skills/No Items but it does require Rise SL to be able to skip her heal and have a 250 turn time limit. It’s theoretically possible if you can get lucky with crits at the start. My first attempt I got her to half hp at her 110th turn but then had to wait till turn 150 to skip the heal. If you get lucky enough to crit more and get her to half hp at turn 100 you dont have to wait a full cycle to skip the heal and I would have had enough turns to win
