Gave up on korky for my toto units. Constant issues. Tried this and so far, so good. The also work with the flood protect hoses. An adjustment for faster refill would be appreciated.

When are you guys going to make the locking ring on the shaft easy to take off? 75 percent of the ones I've dealt with are impossible to pull up. Especially in the restricted space of today's low flush toilets. I had to make a special ring removal tool. There's no reason for it to be rounded and smooth and have a small diameter. It should have been designed for easy pulling. It couldn't have been made much wider.

Do not pull up on the locking ring that is placed below the black float. The ring is designed to stay locked in place to hold the two parts of the valve stem together. The reason it is loose is to allow the user to twist the valve stems on each other in order to adjust the fill valve length. All of Fluidmaster instructions indicate Do Not Move Lock Ring and should be adhered too. If you have any concerns contact Fluidmaster’s Technical Service Department. @@FluidmasterInc Thank you for your prompt reply. I should have been more expansive in my message. I've replaced literally thousands of Fluidmaster fill valves. Standard practice is to NOT remove the entire assembly from the tank. Because that would necessitate removal of the water line. And the tank is going to have a litre or more of water in it that is going to exit the fill valve hole and that means bringing a container to catch it. In other words....that's a "big" and unnecessary operation. In most cases, the procedure is to turn the often decrepit shut off valve that's connected to the water line. Then standard practice is to pull up on the locking ring. Then pull the top of the fill valve off. Throw that in the garbage. Then push a new top assembly fill valve on top of the stem. And then, of course, push down the locking ring. The stem has no moving parts in it so is never the cause of the malfunction. Now we come to the problem. 75 percent of the time that smooth rounded locking ring does not come up even with a Herculean effort. It is nearly impossible to get a satisfactory grip on. I had to make a special tool to grip the ring. Which the many superintendents I have worked with have looked at with a equal parts of admiration and envy. I humbly suggest a wider and more easily gripped ring. At least allow your loyal customers room to get a two fingers under it so it is easier to pull up. My design improvement will enable superintendents all over the planet to purchase and service Fluidmaster fill valves and result in a increase in sales. I can provide an email address where you can send a check for my improvement of your already excellent product. Thank you for your attention in this very important matter.
