Performance Brake Pad Install/Impressions || Yamaha MT-10/FZ-10/R1
In this short series, I will be fully upgrading the braking system featuring the install of brake pads, steel braided lines. and a Brembo master cylinder. In this video I show how to change brake pads on the Yamaha MT-10 or R1 as the calipers are almost identical. I have to chosen to go with EBC double H sintered pads. Not only is this a tutorial, but I go through my own thoughts on whether this specific mod/upgrade is worth it to your average rider.

    FYI, you can rotate the pad securing pin with needle nose pliers. I just push the pin from one side so it sticks out enough to grab it with the pliers and twist until the head of the clips come up. Also it's not necessary to remove the rear caliper to replace the pads. It's very easy

    great tips! great video! glad you did review on pads only as i would start there myself and see if i really needed to spend the extra money on lines and master cylinder. always torque to spec!!

    All I did was swap the front pads for Brembo pads; now have one finger braking for most situations. Much better feel and performance.

    Those pins on the front are SUPER easy to turn to get the little clips or "safety pins" as you call them out therefore making changing front pads much easier than even that.

    I had the MT-10 2017 model for two years and the brakes were not good, they were in my opinion just decent, enough to be legal. After I switched out the brakepads for more expensive ones I think they were ok. Why Yamaha is not fitting the Brembo M40s or something, the brakes that the standard Speed triple S or Ducati Supersport 939 had, those Brembo M40s are not that expensive and would make the breaking a lot better. With the price Yamaha ask for their new MT-10 I think it is the least they can do. I am glad you got the results you were after though!

    I know this is an old video but I’ll still comment anyway lol I bought a KTM 890 Duke R and I’ve never had or rode a bike with brakes this good. I wanted an MT10 more than anything but no idea when I would have gotten one. My first bike had absolutely junk front brakes and I was use to using the rear brakes just out of habit. With this bike having Brembo brakes it’s been life changing and a huge learning curve for me to use the front brakes and when I do they’re super sensitive and will nearly stop on a dime.

    Funny I had a 2015 ktm 1190 adventure with brembo brakes & the brake feel you describe was the same feel on a 1500mi bike.

    Great videos as always thanks friend. I’m big fan of Yamaha motorbikes and your MT10 is beautiful. Please when you got a chance in the future of course can you do a review for Yamaha Tracer 900 GT (2018-2020), or why not the new Tracer 9 GT. I really would like to hear exactly from you what you think about the overall experience :) Regards ✌🏼

    Nice another video! Great info on the break job 👍🏻 If you had to choose now between the MT10 or MT09 now that you’ve had the 10 for awhile would you stay with the MT10?

    Yup definitely, I think what I like the most about it, is how stable it feels and how comfortable it is. The only thing that bothers me is how fast the fuel runs out. This video alone I burnt through a full gas tank :(

    My friend swapped out his master to a brembo radial one too on his MT10. We were hitting triple digits in mexico and a small pebble flew up, smashed the plastic reservoir and brake fluid sprayed everywhere.

    Sintered is not the best. You need carbon ceramic pads. Brembo makes a set with a blue backing. CC pads are also cheaper then sintered
