Cool. I would make it a little further. By cutting the exact shape into the perspex. And would use a dremel with a Miniature Ball Bearing Router Bit. If you have a 3d printer you Could make a tool with ease.

Good idea. At the time I thought the drill centres were more useful, and engraved the USB shape into the acrylic which pretty much does what you suggest. During lockdown I realised there are other simpler ways to implement my idea - see how I did jack sockets. kzread.info/dash/bejne/eap61KOhntObpaQ.html

It's too bad they don't make a round USB C snap in jacks. It's impossible to cut a nice tidy slot in plastic. I've seen only one and it was from the UK, but it was a bit pricey and flimsy-looking.

Yes a snap-in socket would be good.
