Do not throw away the original cable of the phone, but fix it in seconds

    One major mistake, this video does not talk about ensuring that the same color of wire is soldered again on the desoldered point. If the color scheme of the wires are not maintained as of original, then due to polarity reversal your phone of thousands of Rs gets damaged due to reverse polarity of DC voltage.

    A much easier solution is that when the cable first begins to fray, cover a few inches around and over the break with Shoe Goo or something similarly strong and flexible like that plastic you dip tools handles into, thus preventing any further breakage and sealing the wire.

    02:42 I liked the heat shrinking rather than stripping the core conductor insulation, but seeing as I have an appropriate stripper, I would prefer its precision. I wouldn't say "fix it in seconds", but yes, with care and the right tools, this can be done.

    Affordability is relative to income and what you want to do with your spare time. Fixing charging cables is not high on my priority list if $20 gets enough cables to last until my next phone upgrade then that's my path. But in many countries changing your phone as often as your socks is not possible but neither is having shrink tape, solder and a soldering iron.

    The major issue is the plastic used in the jacket of the cable. Body oils and flexing will lead to that outer jacket failing. The shield to the cable must also be reconnected to the ground lead but be observant as to which end it is connected to, the phone side or the USB side.

    It may have taken a few minutes but not seconds as advertised! Purchasing the length of heat shrink originally isn’t cheap, neither is the hot glue or the gun! It’s only helpful if one has these items laying about somewhere, otherwise it’s quicker & cheaper in the long run to buy a complete replacement chord as fumbling about trying to repair the original!

  • @alanlevin167
    @alanlevin1675 ай бұрын

    This can be done but, depending upon the price of a replacement, it iis probably not worth it. I would probably estimate thatit will take about $15 of my time to do thisand I have the tools and supplies. if you want todo this, some suggestions: 1. I never hold my fingers as as close to a hot soldering tip as this may does---be careful! 2. I generally use desoldering braid to removesolder from a connection. 3. I do not use a knife to strip insulation off of a wire or cable--it is much too easy to cut through the insulation of one of the inner wires. There are wire strippers that do this easily, and efficiently. Anyway, feel free to try your luck, my time is better spent elsewhere.
