Awesome vid! The scariest part was you cutting the mold 🤣. When I was a bit younger, I was cutting a peice of cardboard for a project and accidentally cut the inside of my left pinky. Because it was a razor, I managed to 1/5 of my pinky. Strangely, it didn't hurt. It was just one clean cut. I remember multiple drops of blood dripping onto the kitchen floor as I grabbed a piece of tissue. I was fortunate enough that my tendon didn't get cut. Everything healed perfectly and I can't even see where the scar is anymore.

Thank you for this , thankfully I’ve saved multiple broken iPhone connectors and it just happened my dad got a soldering iron lying around, I have 3 in my disposal and each had different problems but atleast I got the idea of soldering. All 3 worked on my first time trying. I guess I won’t be buying a new one in a while lol.

Wow, I hadn't even considered trying to repair a lightning cable. Very interesting to see what's inside the connector. I guess if you'd try to proceed with a repair you would have ended up with a quite fragile result. Thanks for taking the time to film this adventure! :-)

Wires inside are so little , they are less strong than exemple tv wire so it’s more fragile , so sometime we charge the phone on a table too high and the top of the wire is bent and after many times doing this , the rubber stretch a bit and a wire inside finally break , and we can’t see it , cuz it happens inside ! It force us to buy Lightning cable every year

Apple is corrupt. These cables sold for up to $45 when they cost apple about 5 cents. Apple could've used off the shelf micro USB plugs but they couldn't steal from people. Apple has made billions off of selling cables. To make things worse they put a chip in the cables to reduce the chances of third party sellers could profit off of knock off cables. Apple has billions stored offshore to avoid taxes. We need a law that would STOP THEM FROM DOING BISINESS IN THE US until they paid taxes on all that offshore money. Then force them to pay billions in fines and have APPLE executives arrested and inprisoned for corruption. Sadly, the US has one party of fools who chant like primates when they hear 'deregulation'. We need MORE regulations, not less. The stupid people who mindlessly chant for less regulations are allowing corrupt companies like Apple steal from every American.

If they would only make the strain relief a bit further and stiffer from the lightning connector end a lot of cables would be saved. No surprise on the soldering jobs on the internals. I bet the overmolding helps holds things together and masks poor connections for a while.

Hi thanks for showing what is actually in the lightning terminal side of the cable.I have problem with a cable bought recently. This particular cable is for connecting my iPhone to external speaker which has phono connection. There is lightning connector on one end and 3.5 mm phono jack on the other end. This cable does not work for some reason I don’t know.I tried to test continuity between the connectors with a multimeter but only get one result which is ground but nothing for others which is for sound.I thought it should show continuity for sound but later I learned there is a chip circuit at lightning end so May be that is why the continuity does not show. Please correct me with this one.I wonder why the cable does not work? This cable is for sound only and not for charging phone so I would presume there should be direct connections between the lightning and phono connection.Your help appreciated Thanks

My iPad charger accidentally fell on the ground and the head of the charger (the one that we plug in the IPad to charge it, I’m not sure what’s it called) and the wire got separated. Do I have to buy a new charger? Or do I have to find someone to repair it for me? Can it be repaired?

Better off getting a USB to lightning plug adaptor, then you can use any old USB charging lead. Apple have to make it complicated by having to have a chip that provides some sort of ID to the device being charged (the purpose of the small chip)

my neighbor has an iphone with such a cable and he came to me to check why he can't charge his phone anymore, his connector has the 2 middle pins on both sides almost completely burned off because of arcing I suspect, I measured if there was continuity on those pins and there was none except for one pin that gave an intermittent signal so I told him to get a new cable and write the old one off. It seems to me that many people have this problem with iphone charging cables, I find it pretty funny. I hate apple and everything they are a part of and personally I would NEVER buy, use or even look at and I certainly would NEVER EVER plug an apple device into my personal computer just out of principle that it's from apple.

Merritt Derr - maybe so, but I don’t like this whole throw away society thing and the resulting mountains of trash and wasted resources, I think if some could be fixed then it should be.

@@TheDefpom I suspected that would be the response. I feel the same way mostly but one of the lines I draw is trying to fix molded cable ends, which I've never had much luck at

I appreciate your "how to" videos but you've wasted my time by saying "how to fix a lighting cable" and took almost 12 minutes to get there. If you had titled it: "what's in a lightning cable" that would have been fine. Anyway, I'm trying to help you decrease the thumbs down on future videos. Greg

Well, what can i say.. miserably failed ha ha :-D joke :-D I've been there too many times and i get a bit too stressed out and that does no good :-(. Being too determined sometimes works, but often makes matters worse. I use hot glue to replace the moulded case, not pretty but it works :-D Who said im a bodgy bugger? lol.

@@jamiemorgan4146 Jesus Christ it was a fucking joke. You do understand what jokes are right? I know CDC guidelines state we are not to joke about stupid shit because it might spread Covid (that was also a joke. It’s impossible to spread Covid by saying stupid shit. So I’d like to apologize. Seriously, I would love to apologize Honestly, if I could think of something worth an apology I wouldn’t hesitate. Shit, I got nothin.
