Perfect water front camping at New Zealands biggest Dam

Hey Team. This week we are camping at a couple of spots the first at some private property while we power up after running flat. The next is some great lake camping on Lake Dunstan.
We check out the Large Dam, enjoy some beautiful Autumn colours, Paddle boarding, the Historic Cromwell Precienct and the Clyde Museum.

    Yea man, we've been loving the Autumn colours, still a few good spots around as well. Was cool to hang out with Oma and Opa... Yea the girls and toby are so creative with their play I love it. They also were asking when you were going to make another video, I think they are keen to see you guys in action again.

    Some stunning scenery and great footage again. Always good to know your brakes are in top condition, certainly a bit of a sting needing to do the rotors as well. Mel's car needs a computer from Japan because the windscreen wipers stopped working, yikes! I recall going through Cromwell and the Clyde dam as a kid as they were starting to fill it, and luckily we could enter the dam. It makes for a great recreational Lake and heaps of power.

    New computer from Japan aye no doubt that will be expensive, bills Suck... I've actually just put a little ad up here on twizel to do some plastering and painting. Lots of interest so will be good to put some $$$ back in our emptying bank account... having lots of power and a big lake is pretty awesome I feel a but sorry for all those who lost orchids and land though, but I'm sure they would have been well compensated.

    Seeing that river and old village reminded me of when we went to the village that was flooded in the UK for the dam. Better to pay for car maintenance but its annoying as you feel like its lost money*

  • @leopardsgowild

    @leopardsgowild

    Жыл бұрын

    yea your right about lost money... But it's definintely about being safe, with the family and 3tonnes on the back we got some big hills in New Zealand, we need to know we can stop if we have to. Dams are very interesting aye, lots of politics behind them when you flood peoples land... The spot where we were camping, was called fruit growers road... where the lake now is, used to be a prime location for growing apricots... Apparently 12 or 13 large orchids were removed for the lake...

    The orchard the kids were frolicing used to be down the gorge at..... Jackson's 😂 The little museum at Roxburgh is a cracker about gold history. They got huge gold from under old cromwell before it got wet. On gold a dredge went through lower Millers flat maybe twenty year ago, same when you get out of the manuka gorge heading to Milton. South side of the road was done but they reckon the other side of the road had more. There is still gold operations going in that general area, have heard there's a plant headed to the clutha between Wanaka and cromhole. Drilling is happening now in that general area...

    Still catching up on your back catalogue. Did Sophie do the Lake Dunstan cycle trail? It's a not miss but steep in places. Lol at the RJ Charades and the girls guessing when they knew the answers. We thought from one of your earlier videos when the brake system between the car and caravan wasn't functioning that your brake discs could be damaged. Painful bill but as you said you cannot put a price on safety.

    Yes Soph rode it with her Dad, and I ran it, she gave me the keys so I coule drive myself back, was a beautiful day when we did it, but pretty exposed even in April it was toasty hot out there. The brakes are something you def want working well, our truck brakes were good, but just worn and needed replacing, they didn't last very long only about 40,000km from when my dad had them replaced. My Dad lasted 180,000km on the first set.
