Perfect Mirrored Bar - Plug Perfection - Trash To Treasure - ASMR Metal Melting -Steel Copper Alloy

Ойын-сауық

A shorter video today as I melt down a heap of scrap plugs that the scrapyard didn't want. I also do a steel copper alloy bar and a classic copper bar. Another step closer to the 529 kg motor melt which should be here in 2 or 3 weeks I'm guessing. Now sit back enjoy and I hope to see you all on the next video👋😁

HOW I MIRROR FINISH A BAR
I start with an 80 grit flap disc on my angle grinder then I use my drill with 50 mm round sanding discs . I start with 150 grit then go through the following Grits 240-400-800 Then once I get to the following Grits I use a small squirt of WD-40 1200-1500-2000-2500-3000. The WD40 helps to lubricate the discs and stops the sanding disk binding up with the metal powder . Then after that I use my buffer wheel on my bench grinder to get a perfect mirrored finish on it.

Just a quick one today guys as I've been absolutely flat out over here. Another kilo closer to the goal and I can't wait to get a bit closer so I can get that 529 kg motor from the 1930s that I showed a sneak peak of 2 weeks ago . All the usual bits and pieces and one of my Prettiest bars to date. Now sit back relax and enjoy today's video but most importantly have an awesome weekend👊🏻😁

On a personal level, it's really cool to finally see you complete your goal. I got hooked on your videos when I saw you make copper bars from wires in your Garage. The biggest motor ever disassembled after reaching one Million subs was so cool. I find your videos so damn pleasing to listen and watch. I hope it doesn't end after your goal, and if it does. 22:00 - The shine looks like it comes from the nickel content (the nickel coating on top of copper terminals). I believe most audio connectors are copper underneath with different coatings on top (tin, brass, nickel, silver, gold). I didn't notice any gold- or silver-plated ones in the bin, just the cheaper nickel-plated ones.

It really reminds me of the metal use in Dollar and Two Dollar coins - 92% copper, 6% aluminium and 2% nickel. Likely some aluminium used in the cheaper ones, and as you mention, nickel plating is very common.

Another thing to note, is never pour copper ONTO ice, just a plain block of it, it'll cause a massive steam explosion. There was a guy I used to watch that melted like a kilo of copper and dumped it on stuff; he poured it onto a block of ice and it exploded and sprayed molten copper everywhere. Also, never pour aluminum into a cavity in ice, TKOR did it (from a safe distance) and it exploded too.

I'm getting close to starting my own melty metal hobby, and I wouldn't want to accept making alloy bars like that.. Then again, I guess there's no real way to identify or accurately separate the metals from stuff like that without some slightly beefy chemistry equipment. I may not watch your channel often, but your videos have always inspired me to want to start making my own ingots.. And I finally have the setup and material to do it. If you like, after I make my very first bar, I could set aside a chunk to send to you, as a keepsake. A token of appreciation for inspiring me to recycle old electronics for metals and other bits.

Bit of trivia knowledge for you, jewelry show case mock rings 0f 90-95% brass. Most are coated with other metals, gold, silver, platinum, etc. The "generic " yellow-gold bands on display are typically a mix of copper, silver, tin, and nickel. I'm curious about the metal in the plugs as well. I always thought they're nickel-plated, or some sort of nickel alloy in there somewhere.

@MattExzy if you mean the iec plug ends, those are generally brass alloy. Though, that means there could be several metals to choose from. Including, but not limited to, tin, aluminum, lead, zinc, nickel, and more. As well as any combination of. Plus, some non-metals like zirconium, phosphorus, and arsenic. After all, we do have crystalline yttrium aluminum garnets. *** note that I am not a metallurgy person in any way. Some information stated could be inaccurate, been a while since I looked at any source material. Please check more reliable sources of information.

Oh, I can't wait for you to reach the final goal, I would like to know what you have prepared for us as a special video. The video of the accident with the molten copper on the icy water is terrible, what negligence. Don't make Ingot cry, can't you see he's hungry? 🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂 Big hug from Argentina 🇦🇷👋🏻💪🏻
