I feel like I was expecting to get a flashback with Thalia more in s2 than s1 just bc we get more information from annabeth about thalia and what happened during their journey (like the hideout her, luke and thalia made or the reason she’s scared of cyclops)

Your channel is such a breath of fresh air. It can be easy to get bogged down by the criticisms about the show and forget the many great things about it. And yeah, expecting a perfect one to one adaptation of the book is just setting yourself up for disappointment. It's an adaptation....the story will have to adapt to fit a new medium

i think we are probably going to get a luke, thalia, and annabeth flashback in s2. makes a lot of sense because we’ll get to see some of her before she comes back. i’m glad they didn’t have a flashback and instead had luke explain it to percy bc we’re learning of it just like he is and i think it would’ve felt out of place and kind of disrupting if it just cut to a flashback in the middle of that scene

I agree the Krusty scene being kinda misplaced in the book too, the trio suddenly getting chased by people on the street and hiding in a random shop didn't really feel like pjo

i hated how “fans” were mad about the arch scene and how it played out, like you said the falling scene is A MASTERPIECE but also the fact that POSEIDON SAVED PERCY HIMSELF????? like yall were supposed to be just as blown away as percy was cause that’s like the first interaction they’ve kinda ever had

i do love how they’re setting up grover’s search for pan cause i really think season 4 is going to just tear us apart for when we find out the truth of where pan has been and what grover has to do from then on!!!!

episode 1 & episode 2 are like so perfect and nostalgic for me like that is our PERCY JACKSON

1000 percent agree about the Casino scene. I prefer the meaningful conversations to a "fun and vibrant" scene too. And I also enjoyed Lin. I think making it exactly book accurate would have felt out of place for the show and I preferred talking about Luke with Hermes. The nature of getting sucked into the games was gotten across with Grover's finding Pan game, too and I liked that it was a VR headset. That's a fun thing that kids of today can relate to. And it got the idea of wasting time getting sucked into a game tailored to you across.

I agree!! I always felt when reading that book that the scene felt out of place, kinda like those filler episodes in sitcoms(it didn’t really gain relevance until they realized they missed multiple days yk), mostly due to how short it seemed and it was honestly kinda just like, what was the point of this?! But then Rick made it relevant by adding in hermes as their goal for the episode and actually foreshadowed some VERY important information for the later seasons(although ngl, I was a little sad and was hoping hermes would distract them by having them play games in the casino, but when I rewatched it I realized that would’ve been weird?)

We take a zebra to vegas All of these episodes are so close together for me and it was really hard for me to rank them like tbh episode 8 and episode 5 are neck and neck and I love both of those episodes extremely much. I guess its always something about finales and they put so much in that episode and all of it just tied together amazingly. Episode 5 I don't even have to say anything about that episode . Like PERCABETH CENTRAL and GROVER AND ARES like ICONIC. Like I think a lot of people can collectively agree episode 5 and episode 8 are like amazing and can be interchangeable depending on the day like I love both episodes equally. I would say even though our ranking is similar and is very different but like I LITERALLY UNDERSTAND why you picked those in your rankings. Not gonna lie I agree with almost everything you say because it seems like your one of the only reviewers and PJO fans that have common sense and I love you for that. Everyone on tiktok just are talking most of the time like every critique they had made no sense like use your brain. That's why I mostly just stay on pjo twitter because at least on my tl everyone has common sense and loves the series as much as I do. THIS SHOW IS 10/10 idc what anyone says it made my entire 2024 and season two is gonna be amazing I can't wait.

Apropo scorpion: Luke tries to murder Percy with it. The prophecy that says a child of the big three will either destroy Olympus or save it didn’t exist in the first book bc Rick hadn’t planned it yet, but in the rest of the series Luke is very much aware of it and tries to get a big 3 kid on his side for that very reason. Killing the only forbidden kid around (as far as they know) makes no sense

i agree!! i think they should’ve done something else for grover in the casino, like everytime they cut to him he’d be doing something super fun. that shows us what the casino was like and also brings some comedy in

Another great video can't wait till season 2

I really hope they have some more wide shots of CHB and show the regular activities in season 2. At the beginning of book 2, Percy describes CHB as his "favorite place" and we just don't see how that came to be in season one. We didn't see the campfire songs, the lava climbing wall, any explanation of the camp beads, and just so much other stuff that made Percy and the readers so attached to the place.

I think the volume screen complaints could be easily fixed by some simple color grading. Same with the lighting, some of the scenes were too dark or muddy looking, but they could easily remedy that by playing around with filters and the brightness. I hope they do that more next season cause the cinematography has been pretty impressive, and that paired with some good color grading would really boost the visuals for me! :)

your thumbnail had me ready to throw hands, I was like, "THUMBS DOWN EMOJI NEXT TO EP 5?" ... you really got me lol totally agree with you going back and forth between eps 5 and 8 as your top!! that's exactly how I feel about them too, they're both near-perfect episodes to me. i think ultimately i lean more towards 5 being the best because it has the best acting performances of the season from all three members of the trio imo, and adam copeland's brilliance my ranking's slightly different from yours because I rank episode 7 quite a bit lower, and that's mostly because of how dark it was lit - since most of it takes place in the underworld, it was SO hard to see some of the episode's coolest moments. begging them to optimize the lighting more for TVs/laptops rather than cinema in season 2 lol my ranking is #1: Episode 5 #2: Episode 8 #3: Episode 3 #4: Episode 1 #5: Episode 2 #6: Episode 7 #7: Episode 4 #8: Episode 6

I’m so sorry I have a lot of opinions!! 1. Now that you’ve said it, I didn’t like grover part of ep 6 either! Didn’t feel super suspenseful or interesting, just confusing 2. Its good to know that Joe Tracz (who wrote the pjo musical) isn’t coming back- not saying everything is his fault but maybe they’ll be able to tweak some things based on fan feedback next season!! 3. THANK YOU for proving that its not that important that he jumped off the arch because IT MAKES NO SENSE FOR HIM TO DO THAT lol 4. AND THANK YOU for defending the “exposition dumps,” you cant just SHOW everything in a series with world building like this, where all the little details are VERY important, especially later on 5. And i also think its a stupid complaint that gabe is not abusive enough and sally is too defensive against him- they dont have to make him overly terrible (to the point where it seems over the top) to prove they had a dysfunctional relationship 6. Im thinking they’ll do a thalia/luke/annabeth flashback in season 2 (because they have to cast her for the end of s2 anyway, might as well give her more to work with!) 7. Dont get me wrong I LOVE every episode, but ep 7 was my least favorite mainly because it just seemed important to move the plot forward, and i just wanted to get to the “good stuff” (like all the ep 8 stuff) and the way they explained the whole “who stole the bolt situation” didnt feel super clear. But now that you say it, it makes more sense for them to be at crustys for a reason cause its my least favorite scene in the book, because it felt so random 8. I agree, the whole point of the Hades in the book is to be not a cliched Hades, the show just did it in a different way than the book did. And I NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT HOW HE WAS TRYING TO SEEM CHARMING you just rocked my world with that 9. Ep 5 was hands down the best episode in my opinion, and second is ep 8!! Episode 5 moved me to TEARS

Hopefully they do like 2 chapters per episode next season making the season at least 10 episodes that makes more sense to me

They can cast a young actress to do the flashback and show her face covered in darkness then cast the accrual actress to play her in the future when you need to, it’s hard not impossible making it a valued criticism of the show and if they can read it they can watch it 😂 But over all I love the show and have watched it so many times and I love you channel just disagree a tad on a few topic but overall enjoyed the video keep up the good work and don’t let the haters get you down 😁

I just want shows to go back to making runtimes for every show a minimum of 45 minutes. I love show episodes that are an hour actually. Masters of the Air has been sticking to that. One of My favorite non English shows had episodes at 1 hour 20 minutes each.

I think I was fine with the pacing of episode 1. I didn’t like the first look at riptide because I felt we barely saw it. I just think we spent too little time in camp in episode 2.

the crusty scene made me almost made me rip my hair out in the series the book scene is just so YES🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼

I wanted to add with the showing the mist in the Pilot was Percy seeing the rhino with the bronze metals one moment and then a garbage truck is shown. I agree with your rankings and the reasonings for the placements. The changes made for me caused the story to flow better for me & added to it because it would make sense in future seasons. Scenes that were cut from the show that were in the book like the pink poodle scene, the hellhound scene from camp half blood or Luke trying to kill Percy with the scorpion were fine for me. It makes sense that Luke would try to recruit Percy to join him on Kronos side and it was heartbreaking seeing Annabeth finding out he not only betrayed Percy, but her because they consider each other family ; Luke’s heartbreak on his face was palpable and I felt it. I liked the change of Annabeth seeing the thread cut by the Fates in episode 5 because we know who it is for & how she will be impacted more in future seasons. I loved the changes in the Tunnel of Love Scene as well as the Grover/ Ares scenes. The Season Finale I loved Zeus and Poseidon speaking Ancient Greek to each other, Poseidon being the “ bigger god” surrendering to Zeus to save Percy. I loved the fight scene with Ares and Luke. I just loved the episode so much. If I could episode 5 and the finale would be a tie for me.
