I wish they would’ve done a double renewal where they film back to back only for the sole purpose that he’ll be way older by the time they even film season 3. I don’t mind if they age bc let’s be honest, it’s real life but I feel like he went from looking 12 to 16 REAL QUICK 😂

@@cartoonishclaude yeah, but some people aren’t a fan of animation so you risk losing viewership that way imo. Like I’m not a big animated person so I’m not sure how much I would’ve enjoyed it. I def see your point though

I still stand by that longer episodes are required to really do the books justice. I liked season one, but the run time made it suffer slightly. They can absolutely do it in 8 episodes, as long as those episodes are longer than season one.

Oddly enough, Sea of Monsters is 100 pages shorter than The Lightning Thief. So 8 episodes might be enough episode-wise.

Exactly! I don't know how they came to that conclusion with just Becky's Thread. Disney also said it's false and yet they still chose to announce. Even tweeting something about companies lying. So unprofessional and really incompetent. Kinda annoying that they never apologized.

Guys, everyone overestimates how long sea of monsters is. Not only is it the shortest book in the first five, but one of (if not the) shortest mainline book. It is a bit over 63k words. I and probably many people reading this have read fanfics over double that word count. 8 episodes with the same timing as season one will give them more than enough time.

I definitely loved it way more my second watch through (though also I read the book between both watches which changed my perspective a little)

I really don't mind if they're older by the time we get to Last Olympian, I mean look at the Harry Potter movies, the trio was like in their 20s playing 17 year olds, so it's to be expected. I just want to see the story come full circle and end great. And I really don't mind them changing little things from the book as long as they have Rick's approval, like the change to Luke's _scene_ at the end of last season was MILES better than the book imo, like I really loved that change

Well I mean. It’s a bit different because in the books the characters are 15-16 mainly. So I mean it could be a bit strange to have like a 22 year old playing a 16 year old. Walker is already 15 and has changed so much. I don’t mind to much but I can see how people may be worried

2:16: I just like longer runtimes for shows period. House of the Dragon, Lost and a few other examples with a TRT of between forty minutes and an hour (with commercials) is my happy place. But yeah I didn’t mind the first season’s terribly outside of us spending only two episodes and the final one in camp half blood.

I think season 2 can work with the same amount of episodes and runtimes since the book is shorter and we won't need establish as many new things, we can just kind of focus on the adventure and the characters. But I really hope they increase the runtimes for later seasons.

As someone who one day wants to be an author and has looked into the publishing industry EXTENSIVELY...people really overestimate how much control authors have over their own work. Yes, it seems crazy. Some authors can’t even have the final say on their book covers, titles, and even CHARACTER NAMES. Yes. That's true. So it's so insane to me that people are really out here thinking that Rick has the final say on the SHOW of all things, especially since his books technically don't "belong" to him. Like..😂that's not how it works, ya'll. I'm sure he and his wife are trying to have as much control as they can.

Honestly since I've reread Sea of Monsters, I still believe a longer episode or atleast 1-2 more episode is viable, even just with the book's content. Yes, it is short compared to the other books, but so many things happened still. I even drafted out in my head how they will fit the chapters into 8 episodes, and while it's viable, it would be fast paced again and would cut a lot of things that could be dedicated to worldbuilding. For example, I'd love to have atleast 2 episode just set in camp halfblood. Them arriving, chiron leaving, tyson getting claimed, them preparing for the chariot race, percy and annabeth (kind of) beefing, percy interacting with other campers and training with them, the chariot race, and hermes giving him the gifts are already a lot to fit in one episode. And I believe fleshing out camp halfblood is important to percy's world building. Camp halfblood has to feel like an actual camp that percy loves and can't wait to go to every summer. The campers should feel more like real people with different godly parents and their own quirks and personalities. Those chapters in sea of monsters are a great way to show that. With the 8 episode format, I'm sure they'd be out of camp again at the end of just one episode. I love season 1 but I'm really hoping that they get to focus on worldbuilding more in this season. And that meant letting the episodes breath. That's just my opinion though. I'd still eat anything they'd put out and trust the writers with my whole heart. Since 8 episode is basically confirmed, I hope they atleast have 50+ mins runtime for the episodes not to feel rushed.

Like the train scene,Hermes eyes, the Medusa scene, the field-trip scene with the sword etc. it might’ve flew passed every one else but it’s definitely a budget thing and not just the sake for changing up certain scenes or moments. It’s the same issue with the new spider wick show. If you’re a fan of fiction epic television like Star Wars, stranger things, the Witcher, LA avatar the last air bender, the three body problem. Lord of the rings, rings of power and soooo many more you can definitely tell the differences in budget with the decisions/changes they make especially if it’s an ADAPTATION.

Thank you so so much! Being honest, you don’t know which source to trust especially because they each have different information. I love how you share your opinion and know your stuff unlike those articles who’ve clearly haven’t read the books. I also love how you don’t only complain of the length of the episodes because I think people are just impatient for the episodes to come out every Thursday so they want episodes to be longer. The cgi is very expensive for each scene especially because of monsters. The total show is way longer than a normal movie that would be expensive itself. Im so glad it isn’t just one big movie. Let’s be patient and be grateful for the large time we have already for each scene.

Ik one of the actors said it took them like 3 months to hear a call back so I'm trying to get an idea really on how long it'll take. And do you think we'll get a filming date announcement before most of the casting announcements? I love your videos btw, and you're really the only person I trust with updates 😅

According to Rick they haven’t gotten too far with castings, and he himself hasn’t seen any audition tapes for anyone. So it could be a few months! I can’t imagine they start filming before people are casted though.. so hopefully sooner rather than later!

But with the run times, just remember the actors also have to work double as they did in season one if people want longer episodes. I feel like people always never go from the actors perspective bc they have to work their hardest just to get a perfect one episode or movie.

I agree that epsiode 8 is the best episode of the show so far. So I'm excited to see how Craig will improve the show as a showrunner

From what I saw of S1 I don’t hate it but definitely not perfect imo the biggest problem with the show is some of the changes they made Don’t get me wrong adding to already existing properties is not necessarily a bad thing but Here’s the thing you need to ask yourself when doing so. Why am I adding this and what purpose does it serve? Lastly think about the implications how does this thing I’ve added affect the story does it affect it in a good or bad way? Even when adding to a story you should still be respectful towards the original property.
