Just to clarify, none of them knew Poseidon was his father, so they only knew he was the one who needed to do that quest after he was claimed.

Honestly I love the way Grover stands up to Dionysus. Dionysus is like, the patron of all satyrs, so most of them are terrified of him. Meanwhile, Grover straightup disobeys his direct order. He’s a little badass

“You drool when you sleep” is an iconic line in the books. So is Mr. D calling him the wrong name like Peter Johnson. I mean in the books, Percy takes off pretty quick after he’s claimed. They will spend a bit at camp next episode before they leave. Yeah. Medusa is the first encounter. I really like Annabeth and can’t wait for them to peel the layers back and find out who she is. They are definitely setting things up for possible next few seasons. Like Clarise. You will learn more about her. The one thing I wished they slowed down was the part Percy is claimed to the time he finds out about a possible quest. Would’ve loved to see how Percy is looked at after this. I’m an OG fan and I love the show so far. Is it perfect? Close but it’s still fantastic!

Curiously there was a whole scene in the first teaser for the show of him almost doing a walk of shame to his cabin. We only got him already at the front door on the show, but there IS footage of him walking while everyone just stares in a mix of shock, respect, horror and fear. Maybe even some pity lol. I assume they cut it off due to time restraints, and I really hope Disney gives them more episode time or just more episodes in general in future seasons (hopefully we'll get them greenlit)

Dionysus is the god of fertility, wine, and pleasure. In the series, he was basically grounded by Zeus for going after a wood nymph Zeus wanted, so Dionysus is forced to run the camp and not drink, and "be a better influence" for young people lol, which is why he's very sardonic and grumpy. His powers of fertility affect fruiting plants, and since Zeus had forbade him from growing wine grapes (which his powers work best on), the camp grows strawberries instead (which you can partly see in the second episode). Camp's cover in the real world is "Delphi strawberry farm" (named after the Oracle, which we'll see in the next episode), and they sell them to grocery stores and restaurants in greater new york and I think Olympus too, which is how they get funds. Dionysus's powers help the strawberries grow, and the Satyrs use their pan flutes to rid the berries of bugs, and make them grow larger (Satyrs can channel nature magic through pan flute music).

don't go by the movies, this series is more to the books then the movies were. The movies made them a little older then they were. In the series they are the age as in the book which is 12.

The movies are despised by both fans and even the author of the original books, which is how this show got to be made. The movies strayed so far from the books it's not even funny. And the second one is just... dear God. Like the first one, still very far off the mark but at least it still has connections to the book in some strange way, and it's still an ok made film. The second one fails in all categories. And they freaking bring in Kronos in that one because they realized they weren't gonna be able to make more. It was so cheap. Like, I would recommend you find time to read all 5 books, or listen to the audio books, then re-watch the movies to see what I mean. It's important to read all 5 before rewatching them

The show is following closely to the soul of the books, so I think we're all in for a fun time 😊 I'm also a mythology nerd so when I first found the 2 first books when they were released I became obsessed. It's really dam cool

22:04 You're right. They kind of neglected that part of the plot. They should've planted hints of the quest and the master bolt here and there. I wish they could've added more minutes just to add more world building. We'll get to know more about Clarisse in the future seasons. She's one of many complex characters in this series. Annabeth can't see the future but she's the daughter of the god of wisdom (Athena). She's just smart as hell that is why she pieced together Percy's parentage fast. Can't wait for the future eps!

Frankly speaking, this series is much more than I expected. I knew that Rick Riordan is an executive producer and the main writer for the scripts. He changed some things from the book, both taking things out and adding some things. The changes thus far have been exciting. The titles for each episode are the actual titles from the book and the show has followed the book very well. Walker Scobell is perfect as Percy. Leah Sava Jeffries could not portray Annabeth's attitude any better, in my never to humble opinion. And Aryan Simhadri is perfect blend of shy and bold that Grover is written to be in the books. I'm impressed, to say the least.

The Voice does sound like Willem Defoe but after looking on IMDb, it's Nick Boraine. He will spend a bit more time at camp next episode, but yeah, it is fast! In the books, a bit more time passes before he gets his quest. He has 10 days to retrieve the bolt instead of 7. And Percy trains with Luke before and after capture the flag. I understand that they had to cut some scenes out for time, but it's a shame we didn't get to see that. But letting Luke (Grover in the book) tell the story of how he, Annabeth and Thalia got to the camp makes up for it, in a way, and it's a very smart move. You'll understand why later. They waited because they didn't know it was him UNTIL he was claimed. Chiron literally said "Gods claim their kid on their own time", you can't force the gods. And the quest in only happening NOW because someone stole Zeus' master bolt. The book explains all of this much better. Technically, Poseidon could have claimed him "years ago". There a number of issues with that. First, not all kids (for example, Thalia) make it to the camp. And to make matters worse, some kids are never claimed, which is really sad. Second, the moment the kids realize who they are, monsters come after them. Sally literally said to Percy "Half-bloods aren't safe in the world" in episode 1. I have not seen the movie in a long time but I think Medusa is the first monster they fight. Because after that the trio uses her head to turn the Hydra to stone. As a book reader, episodes 1 & 2 are amazing. Not excellent, because there are a few small details that bother me. Very hyped to see the rest of the series.

I don’t get why they did a big focus on Chiron’s big horsey entrance when it was likely to be almost impossible to make pleasent on the eyes on a tv schedule. Why go asking for trouble and prob destroying some effects artist’s self esteem trying impossibly to make it look good. Tho with regards to the quest deadline at the end of the episode. I do wonder if it only became Percy’s problem cos Poseidon claimed him, if he was undeclared would he be on the hook? Honestly I felt the transition between being claimed and setting up the quest arc was really rushed and woulda loved 5-10 more mins for it to breathe.

Totally agree with how the being claimed/discovering that water gives powers felt rushed af. The movie handled it waaay better imo. Also, what's up with him suddenly becoming OP mid-fight for no reason what so ever? They could have at least had him step in the water to explain it and have that be how Annabeth realised his dad was Poseidon.

@@sneb1886 I do enjoy the films. Good actors and the scenes are well-produced. I’m also aware they are poor adaptions and changed things in the plot to be generic Hollywood when it would have been just as easy to be faithful and be great so understand why long-term fans of the books can’t vibe with them. I’ve only read the first book, after watching the films so already had a fondness, so I’m looking forward to it being executed properly on screen.

@@sneb1886 the show followed how the fight went in the book almost exactly, except it was some other kid who pushed him in the water so everything is pretty on the nose. it also isn't far fetched for annabeth to have known about his powers beforehand since she already saw him using his powers in the bathroom.

@@sneb1886 I think since the Luke sword fight (where we first find out he's a good sword fighter) was missing, they just opted to show that Percy is actually good with swords naturally through the capture the flag fight. Maybe he touched the water too since I'm sure there's a reason why the fight choreo cornered him so close to the water. It's a bummer we didn't get to see it though.
