As a young dyslexic, these books were some of the only books with dyslexic characters so I am very protective of these characters as I grew up with them. it is nice to see that the TV show is doing a good job with the book the movie failed to do this. In fact, they went against the wishes of Uncle Rick when they made the movie. These characters mean a lot to me and other kids who grew up with these characters.

I mean Rick Riordan wasn`t Involved with the movies, unlike he is with the TV-Serie, he himself have picked all the Actors personally for each Role for the TV-Serie.

The idea in the books that the demigods are dyslexic because they are hard-wired to read (classical) Greek and not English was actually pretty ingenious. Although it is preposterous and doesn't bear close scrutiny, Riordan manages to sell it well enough in the context of the story.

I don’t mean to offend at all so I’m sorry if this comes across that way at all. I’m just generally curious as I’m not knowledgeable in this area, but was reading the books a challenge with dyslexia or are there techniques that are taught to you so that you can read what may give you a challenge?

this is a really good question@@EdgarDiaz-pt4qx I listened to the book on audiobook through my local library. I do a lot of reading this way. There are techniques one is called Orton Gillingham it is too detailed to go into in a KZread comment so I would recommend googling it. I am told this is what they did for me I was really young and just kind of knew I had special tutoring. I also went to a school for kids with learning disabilities. Right now I use a lot of the things they taught me in school. As well as assistive techs like speech-to-text, audiobooks, and stuff like Grammarly.

You are correct about Satyr's. They age slower, so he is equivalent of Percy according to Satyr's and ages slower.

21:36 That's funny because at the end of fifth book, he had 5000+ kills. It's canon. 😂

It will always be insane to me that Percy has 5k kills in the first 5 books alone. Like imagine how many kills he has until he can finally peacefully go to college😂😂

I mean, if the show makes you want to read the books, you should definitely do it! There really isn't a better time. The episode titles are chapter titles so you can read week from week, which is what I'm doing (not a first read). The Star Wars references, I can't 😂 Grover is 24 in Satyr age. He doesn't "take the shape of a 12 yo" that's how he looks like because Satyrs mature half as slow as humans. I absolutely love the actors who are portraying Sally and Percy! Amazing casting! That was a great first episode!

If I recall correctly, the hold fast dialogue is a show exclusive. I really hope that they do keep referencing back to it!! Its SUCH a powerful line! But we dont know if they will or not. Its a mystery for us book readers as well!

Yes yes yesss. I'm beyond happy this show is finally here. First two EP are so so well adapted from the books and I really hope show goes at least through first series. Can't wait to follow your journey this season especially since you don't know anything, so it will be good to see newbie perspective

You almost made me choke on my cereal with the "Grovers gaslighting you" I'm pretty sure that they were different actors of like young Percy and 12 y/o Percy I find it funny that they filmed this when Walker (Percy) was 13 so during filming he was 4'11 and was a lot shorter than the actor who plays Grover and Leah (annabeth) and now I believe he's about 5'6-5'8 and is way taller than the 2.

I really liked the first episode! But it was a bit slow I thought. And there never was a sense of urgency I felt. Like when the Minotaur is chasing them or when the minotaur is about to kill Percy's mother he is yelling. It felt underacted (is that a word😂) Anyway I did like the first episode getting to know Percy. Great reaction

I read 2 of the books way back but As child and to this day I always loved and looked into Greek Mythology. The other Ones is always been Egypt and Norse for me. The teacher is a furies which in a game that has them is the old God of War games.

The movies strayed quite a bit from the books. This series so far has been more true to the story.
