Thank you! Finally, someone who simply explains what can be done, and how, without stuttering their video, or opting to play annoying rave music instead of explaining their process.

For interest, we still use a large Pepper's Ghost effect on stage at Guthrie, OK. Large enough to fit two people. Very convincing. Biggest part is that the glass must be impeccably clean.

This is so fascinating, I've known about Pepper's Ghost for ages but I never really quite understood how it works. Thank you so much!

Thank you for sharing, mine is ready to go but I had issues trying to find materials for inside. I attempted to use a cookie container like in your other video but the plastic I bought had slight waves through it which I didn't notice until I got home. It didn't look quite right when I tested it, the wave pattern was noticeable which made the reflection look slightly warped. I've wanted a floating night light since the first time I saw your videos a few years ago but I assumed it would be too difficult for me to set up on my own. The fish and planets are my favourites, thanks again.

What great and informative video. Thank you. What is the limit to what types of plastic/material that can be used for the reflective screen?

Maybe you can have two translucent panes in a cross and rotate them above the screen to capture the projection? Videogame graphics used Two flat planes to make a 3d appearance.

How do you determine the right shape for the screen. Creating a temple from the inside of those odd shape bottles seems difficult.

Van Oak Props did a video about this recently, but both videos had some great tips. Wonder if you could use this technique to replicate an image like in Star Wars when showing a communication hologram. But still a great video.

Yes. That's exactly it. On the rise of the resistance ride at Galaxy's edge in Disneyland that's how Rey's holographic message is done. The message is a hologram that's on a raised area above where people are standing. What people don't know is that the area where the hologram appears is a mirror reflecting the back of the room. But because it's raised you can't see anyone in it. However, I wanted to know how it was done and being a tall guy I could reach up and see my hand reflected. Hope this helps.

Hi Joshua, I’d love to know more about how this is used to create the 3D hologram effect. What is happening when four sides are used vs just the one in this case. Could you recreate the hologram with a rounded sheet as opposed to flat. Say a transparent cone? Cheers

There is such a thing as "Pepper's Cone". The source has to be very specifically distorted to appear in its original configuration on the shape of the cone. You can find a whitepaper of specific research on Pepper's Cone on the greater internet.

Are you sure this effect can't be achieved successfully with a projector? A lot of projectors are cheaper than screens, and I was thinking of building a small device that took advantage of this effect, but using a projector instead of a screen

You could definitely try it out. You can project onto clear surfaces but I've just had better results with reflections.

I want to use pepper's ghost to display text, is there a way I can set my monitor to show text properly? Using landscape (flipped) doesn't fix it.

Hi. Maybe there's a teleprompter app that you can use since teleprompters work on the same principle. Otherwise, maybe use an image editor to reflect the text. I'm not sure. Good luck!
