How to Make a 3D Hologram Video of Yourself... in PowerPoint!

Фильм және анимация

Check out this cool tutorial for how to make a 3D hologram video of yourself in PowerPoint! While actual holograms are still a few years away, you can get a small taste of the future with this cool effect for how to make 3D hologram videos of yourself ... in PowerPoint!
All you need for this trick is the following:
1. A screen to project on - could be your smartphone, a tablet, a computer (I flipped mine over to do this) or even a TV (like in this Big 3D Hologram Projector video: bit.ly/2aSjc01)
2. A 3D hologram pyramid - you can make these 3D hologram pyramids yourself by following tutorials like this on KZread (bit.ly/1HXZC8w), or you can buy the hologram pyramid from Amazon, like I did, since I was too lazy to make it : ) (amzn.to/28RPOpB)
3. A 3D hologram video - usually with 4 faces. You can find lots of 3D hologram videos already made on KZread by searching “hologram” or “hologram pyramid” or "hologram pyramid video"- for example one like this: bit.ly/1W45SoV
In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to make what I call a hologram selfie using just the video effects of PowerPoint. You can then project it using a smartphone, computer, or tablet. It's really fun to make your own videos for the 3D hologram pyramid - and especially videos of your hologram face. Hope you enjoy!
By the way, you can make really big 3D hologram pyramids too - if you use something like a TV - such as in this tutorial here: • How To Make 3D BIG Hol...

    Hi Veronica - glad you're thinking about trying this out! I got mine on Amazon and it was for a tablet, so it was larger than the ones for the phone. I couldn't find the exact link (maybe that company is out of business) but if you search for one designed for a tablet, you'll get the size that I used here.

  • @powerpointspice

    @powerpointspice

    7 жыл бұрын

    Hi RG Ogden Jr. - glad that you're getting inspired to play more with the video options! PPT 2010 onward is great with video. You can check out a cool video-related tutorial of mine here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/e4iMqal-fcfWdZM.html For a landscape, this could potentially work, but it works best with objects that are isolated in black - so one single mountain would be good - but a continuous landscape painting would not look ideal. Definitely experiment though - this is a pretty addictive trick!

    Hi Toshika - thank you so much - I'm glad you liked it and found it useful :). I am using PPT 365 (the very latest version right now - the subscription model) but this can really be done with any version of PowerPoint that supports video - so 2010 onward.

    I'm using the latest version (365) but sounds like you need to make all of your videos "start with previous" in order to make them go at the same time - can you check that on your animation settings? Thanks for the nice comment, Astrid!

    If we make 4 time lines and 3 cameras at 120 degree separation then create separately or together then separate in time line delay in refresher rates then we use pyramid glass cover projection. But advance way is electrodynamic for light polarization and sound surround

    You always come up with something great. I'm wondering if you used 4 cams (or iphones) you could put the front, 2 sides and the back at the x. Then, if you had it up on a stand, people could walk around it and it would be kind of like 3D??? I don't know if that would actually work or not, but I was just thinking...

    Great to hear from you, and yes, this would definitely work and look very cool. The only thing I'd say is that if you're just doing a talking head like I did in this video, you could get away with just filming it 4 times from different angles with the same phone/camera. You'd then mute 3 of the sides - and no one will really know the difference. If you are doing something like a dancing video with very complicated moves, then 4 cameras would indeed be very useful. Love the creativity!

    Yes, correct - this is the closest thing we can get to a 3D hologram "effect" at the consumer level ... for now. But it's definitely just a 2D projection that looks more 3D if you view from multiple angles. Still very cool though.

    +youngwolf20 not sure I quite understand but will try - you want to use the tv to project? You can make the video on your computer but will then have to lay your tv flat in order to make it work - if that's what you're looking to do I can send you a tutorial for how to use this with your tv.

    kinda I want to make it so that it will display 4 panel at all times no mater what is on the screen. that way say I am watching a movie on Netflix it will be coming from my desktop to my tv, that way I can watch it in the hologram. does that make sense? lol I have never tried to explain it before and not really sure how.

    I am on a timeline to finish one of these videos today. I've made it before with no problem, but this time there is a thin green line that appears beneath each head only in the rendered video. My background is black, I've blended with the contrast, I've checked to make sure the outline of the image was set to no outline. Yet there is a green line at the bottom edge of the video for each head that is not visible in ppt only in the mov. It makes a green outlined box in the middle of my video. Any suggestions? I need to get this finished today. Thanks!

    Thanks for watching and commenting, Nidia! You could do this with a static image as well - to make it look like it's floating, you could indeed take out the background (even using PowerPoint) and then replace it with black. Hope that helps!

    That's wicked. I'm just wondering though, if you wanted to have a really big image inside or have the video a bit higher, say, inside a big cylindrical vase, how would you go about adjusting the pyramid size and angles? would you make the 4 sides bigger and steeper? my imagination's going nuts here =P

  • @powerpointspice

    @powerpointspice

    6 жыл бұрын

    I haven't played around with too many options, but I would just make the video as large as you can make it for the screen and just have it on one side, if possible (that way, you maximize the size, though you lose the 4 side aspect). I don't think a cylindrical vase would work with this setup, unless you custom designed it to include the pyramid or something else that projects in a similar way as the base. Glad it got you thinking though - that was my entire goal :).

  • @powerpointspice

    +crushed51 it's possible - not sure what exactly the screen size would need to be but it would be bigger than most the out there - maybe a 90 inch tv would work. Otherwise the smaller the would work for toddler sizes.
