Penn & Teller MMT INDIA

Ойын-сауық

Penn & Teller's Magic and Mystery Tour is a 2003 television documentary miniseries starring Penn & Teller. The program was created by the CBC in association with Channel 4 Film.
The show focuses on street magic, and the subjects of each of the three shows are China (Chinese Linking Rings), India (Indian Rope Trick), and Egypt (Cups and Balls, Gali-Gali men). Unusually for Penn and Teller, Teller speaks in the Egypt episode, even though part of their trademark performance is that Penn does all the speaking.

47:20 This one line really stood out to me. When Lee says, "The more we trust in our powers of observation, the easier we are to fool." That's actually really deep. If we're insecure, unsure of ourselves and the world around us, we don't know what to believe, and it's really difficult to accept what we see around us even if we can't explain it. But when we are confident in ourselves, and sure of what we believe in, we trust our own perception more, and are more willing to buy into what we see but can't explain.

@@Kalenz1234 Honestly, I slightly respect people who go all vegan for the cause of "I'm Squeemish and I fear for puppies" rather than the ones who think "I'm saving the world with my diet-limiting gesture!" So they tear a head off a chicken...Do you think it is going to waste? Damned thing is in a stock pot in an hour and was going to die anyway. I don't particularly like bull fighting except when the matador gets gored (I live in Spain). They don't give the damned bulls a reward for winning...they get whacked and dragged around the stadium either way. On the other hand I like recortadores (essentially bull-leaping) becasue unarmed performers get hurt. but I think in the end the result is the same for the bull. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. I like the portugese version of bull runs (touradas or marradas) because bulls get to fuck up a lot of people ... idiots that torment them as well as bystanders. I can watch that on youtube for hours cheering for the unpredictability and strength of the bull that some puny idiot tries to out-smart ("smart" may be the wrong word). Fun fact about KFC, in Japan people make reservations months in advance for the Christmas rush. What I really want to know is what they do to the bones to make them so soft you can eat them. I haven't eaten fast food in a really long time. That isn't a protest. Most of it isn't food. I wrote a play about cock fighting using people with umbrellas. No one understood it. I think I won.

Salmonella is the big difference, for real, eating raw chicken can be deadly... Eating fresh raw fish is generally safe if the fish is from relatively clean waters, killed very recently and was a healthy fish, raw chicken on the other hand is never truly safe...

If you stuck a pole into a hollow rope, it would rise bottom-first, with the limp rope stiffening up as the pole was pushed into further into it. It still could be a pole with a rope around it, and the rope that he rolls up into the basket is just a decoy. They would have to retract the pole quite rapidly to make it suddenly go limp like that, but it seems most plausible. It also explains why they had to interrupt the trick: before the interruption he lifted the basket.

yeah, and the pole is in the sand with some stick in it horizontally to keep it from falling down, also the hole supports it from swaying sideways. not sure how the slow rising part is done.
