Penn & Teller MMT EGYPT

Ойын-сауық

Penn & Teller's Magic and Mystery Tour is a 2003 television documentary miniseries starring Penn & Teller. The program was created by the CBC in association with Channel 4 Film.
The show focuses on street magic, and the subjects of each of the three shows are China (Chinese Linking Rings), India (Indian Rope Trick), and Egypt (Cups and Balls, Gali-Gali men). Unusually for Penn and Teller, Teller speaks in the Egypt episode, even though part of their trademark performance is that Penn does all the speaking.

I swear to fuck that no one watching this video even knows who Penn & Teller _are._ Of course Teller talks. .__. I hate magic tricks with animals, especially in third world countries. You know the probability of animals getting fucked up and killed is high.

I'm pretty sure that's nothing to be surprised since I just heard of them from AVGN long ago but never checked them out till recently and I don't live in the states and never been interested in magic. I've only seen the Fool us shows and 3 seasons of Bullshit, Teller doesn't talk there. I know Teller is not mute(I looked it up) but this was the first time I actually heard him talk. All that aside the comment was meant to be comical.

41:54 Teller's face... It's really hard to explain how much it hits you being in those old tombs and ruins in person. Seeing with your own eyes the grandiose ancient structures, battered and faded by the sands of time. The great men who built them, long gone and long forgotten. And yet, they're still almost as imposing as they must have been when they were first built, thousands of years ago. Egypt is an old country with an exceptional ability to make you feel... small, in a way.

I watch this only for Karam. around 19:50 when he picks up the end cup, you can see him pick up the ball with his last two fingers and curl them as if to palm it. THEN as the cup comes down his fingers stop, he deposits the ball back under the cup and curls his fingers as if he is still palming the ball. I believe he can do the trick better but he didn't know how knowledgeable Tellers is so he made the pantomime broad so Teller wouldn't miss it. However Teller saw Karam drop his two fingers while the cup was still in the air and politely looked away to allow for the palm, and he missed the move entirely. Karam performed the palm much more discretely earlier in the video, it was broad on purpose. It is so subtle because he is miming such a subtle movement to begin with. SO SMOOTH! I can talk about it, I know exactly how he does it, but dammit he is good!

That's the beauty of the trick. Even Teller couldn't figure out how he got it right when the guy performed it in front of him. He was sure the three balls are in the middle cup not one on each cup.

We had great seats for a Philadelphia show where they ended with the cups and balls. Using clear cups made no difference at all. Just top-level entertainment. By the time we made it out to the lobby, both were there thanking people in person for coming. Teller gave me a very warm, "hello" and "thank you" which I will never forget. Great chaps.
