*Warning: Very Loud Audio* Penn & Teller - Don't Try This at Home (1990)
Ойын-сауық
Thought I'd already uploaded this; guess I hadn't.
1990 Penn & Teller special that I first saw on public access (WGBH channel 2, to be precise). Not too sure where it originally came from.
Relatively obscure, even for one of their older works. It wasn't even listed on their Wikipedia, last I checked (11/01/12) [While that was true at the time, it has since been added].
Again, most of the gags are repeats/repeated later, but it does contain the first video appearance of the 'Invisible Box Trick', and it's worth watching because P&T are awesome.
This video was originally uploaded while KZread was experiencing a service drop, so the 'Description' section was nonsensical gibberish at first.
Oh, wait, it still is.

The reason they did this was, back in the 90s magicians kept doing the same old magic tricks over and over again, never coming up with anything original. They decided that if they revealed the secrets behind the tricks it would force magicians to come up with new ones.

@Show100prd Penn Jillette was friends with the masked magician(Valentino), but there's actually many of them, like 'anonymous'. They are a 'club' to demystify magic so people appreciate it for what it is, illusions, and to revitalize the art by encouraging the ingenuity of the next generation. It is the whole reason for their TV show fool us. Sometimes knowing how the trick is done leads to the trick being more impressive than if you didn't know at all.

@GarudaPSN
4 жыл бұрын
@@markd2797 The act is a funny sexual/romantic metaphor/play. Penn serves them "drinks", they look at each other lovingly as he goes down on a stick of Fire, then hands her her own. 19:34 they're both lit up together, and they start getting closer and closer. 19:52 she swallows the fire, seductively, and they both lay back on the couch, "tired". Then they go again, and even lick lips at each other. This is the funny part, at 20:34, his flame goes out, but hers doesn't, indicating Penn is done at this point, but she's still up for more, so she relights his fire forcefully. And again! After that it's pretty much setting up for the final cigarette trick, which specially during the 90s, "a cigarette after sex" was very popular imagery. And so the act/trick is complete :)

Fucking epic entrance with the mirrors and zip lines. That should be their entrance on every episode of Fool Us. But, they are probably too damn old for the zip lines now.
I was at the filming of the truck running over Teller and the most shocking part of the the night was Teller speaking during the setup. I have seen him speak since then but at the time I wasn’t sure he could speak.
@0623kaboom
3 жыл бұрын
the truck was pretty easy ... if you look when they do the shot from the back look at the middle of the tires at the rear ... there i no gap ... yet the otherside has a gap ... the tires on the truck that were to run over Teller were arctic soft tread tires ... designed to NOT CRUSH stuff under them but support heavy loads ... that is why no gap .. the weight is dispersed more broadly thus reducing the weight on teller ... all he had to do was inhale and keep his chest puffed out ...
