Burning books... oh those memories. Greets from Germany
Possibly the most expensive trick in Fool Us... Might look like it costs $250ish but you missed the $100,000 debt that went into the making of it

The sheer cost of education across the world is ridiculous. Just look at how many folk leave University/College with massive debts. It is quite literally built for the kids of rich parents. Yeah, this kids may be brilliant, stunningly good students, but the same is true for the kid who's family life savings pay for the education and they end up leaving in debt but with just as brilliant, stunning abilities.
Forcing students to buy new books for the courses is one of the biggest scams pulled on the public. Almost all of these books are available used online at 1/5ths or, (sometimes better)the price, but they keep making “new editions” so you feel you have to buy the updated one, but they’re pretty much exactly the same. Don’t feel bad about buying used! It’s Your right and necessary for a lot of students.

Im a bit confuse becuz im not entirely sure how this thing work. But isnt college fee cause like 20 000$ or more per semester. If u have that much money to pay, 40-60$ is just a fraction of ur fee no? .-. Why is it a problem when u are thousand of dollar rich. (Like i said, i dont know these thing, dont hate me)

@@prumchhangsreng979 well, a lot of people need to apply for student loans to pay tuition. Many college students are not rich at all and struggle to pay back student loans, and outrageous book costs just compound this problem

Damn this choked me up a little! What a cool thing to do!! Thank you for spending your time with them! This is what a community is all about! And he was amazing. Don’t care P&T figured it out, his stage presence, demeanour, his voice! His eloquence all top notch and elevated the trick far beyond a first try. He’s a natural, in part thanks to you! And his own hard work and dedication of course. But man, I love this. Thanks again for speaking up to compliment him and validate him even more!!

I think the book just had a lot of 'brainstorm' in it, if you know what I mean.
"Chill. It's not weird, it's on her Wikipedia." CLASSY
If the trick seems to be impossible, the magician felt the force ;)
Absolutely amazing presence and great delivery of a classic prediction trick! It's also fun to notice how much louder you speak compared to other magicians on the show, which can easily be explained by your street experience. When I moved from a crowded urban center to the countryside, people noticed how loud I was whenever I presented something. So I noticed I didn't have to be as loud in such a quiet environment, but took me more than a year to adjust. And since then I kept the ability to draw people's attention, which was a survival tool in the big city.
I've seen so many of the tricks of picking a word in a dictionary, prediction and such (which I still don't know, or want to know the method), but this one was so creatively done with such a good routine that it was the best performance of this type of trick I've seen.
I had a teacher doing the textbook scam too, except it was much worse. It was $60, and on the topic of “health.” It was the most rudimentary information I’d ever seen on a university campus. “What is a calorie? What is exercise?” And it was a required class and textbook for every single student at my university of 26,000+ students. Over 6,000 students spent $60 on what was essentially a pamphlet with elementary school level information. Oh, and it was digital. Basically a PowerPoint.
Ok I cannot even begin to understand how you force something like that... bravo man, it really takes a really talented person to create a trick where even when I know how its done now, i still can fully enjoy it. Because damn man, that presentation and everything...

@@Gary_Hun That makes a lot of sense.
4:21 - I immediately knew the book was home made. You see, there's this thing called grain direction in paper... it is a given that in your average printing paper the cellulose strains are going one way in a sheet, and in which direction they go they make the paper much stiffer, then in the perpendicular direction. Book makers know this and don't print in a way that the grain direction will cause the book to always try and close itself because the pages are too stubborn. According to this rule, the very first tear should have been at a crazy angle, and the second should have been nice and perpendicular to the page's side.
What a great bait and switch. I was so expecting the fire to be the payoff then you blew my mind
Wonderful presentation - I look forward to seeing future performances! You are a natural for the stage.
That was a great performance and you have a wonderful style on stage. Congrats...
Bud, that was excellent! It had me all the way. You, my good man, have a damn gift!
Great show man. thank you for sharing with me
Great magic, guy. Ya fooled me! The most expensive textbook I ever bought was for virology $75 in graduate school in 1975. It was for a course by the same name and written by the prof who taught the course! One of us figured out that we could buy one copy and then photocopy each page (@5 cents/)… Nobody tried that and we never had any need to open the book. I think this has been a trick played by profs since Aristotle.

@stephaniewaters1777

@@YasserSedrati it means burning the books was a way of releasing the bottled-up negative emotions of highschool. A way of saying "that's finished now" ands starting anew. Catharsis is a little stronger than the idea of emotional closure. It's more like cleansing, a purging of bad feelings, release.

I did couple years community college. 1st week was last time I read anything in a book. I could've made it without them. Almost didn't bother buying them. But had left over grant money to cover part of cost and since I dropped out I 9th grade to work construction I wasn't expected to ever go to college. But later got GED and went to local community college thanks to government grant. So I got the books to keep as a trophy for making it to college kind of. You seem like great guy. I hope you get millions of subs. Congrats for making it as far as you have. You would be a perfect role model for lots of kids. Best wishes

Nice rutine and trick.
I was a music education student in the late 90s. We had to buy a book about teaching recorded and arranging a recorder ensemble. It was maybe 50 pages, soft cover and spiral bound. $75 dollars. We never used it. I sold it back for 15. This was around 1998 or so. Adjusted for inflation, $124. Complete nonsense
once i got to my major courses, like half my books were written by the professor. it's really normal.
